I've decided to slowly start sharing my journey toward a goal career I've recently started.

I've learned a lot from the fantastic experiences shared by the FMMVibe community, and I greatly appreciate that. However, I do also want to experiment a bit and see what strategies work out the best.

I won't be using any editors or unlockables, and I respect the general challenge rules. That said, I'm treating this thread more like a diary or personal progress log.

As some of you may know, I’m a huge fan of regens and love watching them develop. That’s what I enjoy most about the game. I need high-quality regens, so there is one exception to all the rules: I use the reload method during off-seasons to get the best ones because I know how to track them.

Choice of Player

As the title suggests, I’ll be focusing on the regen of Cristiano Ronaldo.

He won’t be available for a few seasons, which gives me some time to improve the players around him first. That's great.

Choice of Club

Like many goal careers, choosing Celtic makes a lot of sense. With over 60 matches each season and relatively weaker competition in the league, it’s a solid pick. I only loaded the Scottish league at the start to speed up the game interface.

TLDR

There are two main objectives in this first preparatory season: build up good finances (so that I can have enough funds to buy the regens) and get some good players (to win us games).

Both will involve selling the existing players – because, let's admit it, this Celtic team isn't world-class. I checked the players on FMInside, Liel Abada is the standout player with a relatively high PA, but he isn't exceptional either. So the goal is to replace most of the squad with high-PA wonderkids and develop them. High-PA wonderkids develop very quickly when given enough game time, and they'll become better than the existing squad members in no time.

 

Coach Changes

The first thing I do is reshuffle the coach and physio team.

For physios, I go with 2 "prevention" + 1 "rehab".

For coaches, I start the game as a "Youth" coach myself. I get 1 "Attacking" coach and 3 "Fitness" coaches, all with natural aptitude. Two of them are bronze level, but that's okay; I'll ask them to take coaching exams, and they'll get to a gold badge eventually.

 

Transfer Business

I did try to sell most of the team, but unfortunately, there just isn't a lot of interest around these players (and I didn't use any transfer tricks). But we still managed to get some players out and obtain funds to get many wonderkids, so I'm generally pretty happy with the transfer business.

Realistically, I only expect Moukoko, Duranville, Endrick, and perhaps Guler to be at the required level when the regens arrives. The rest will likely be developed and sold for profit.

Competitions

We start our season with a nice win and has a pretty nice start to the season:

As expected we're not quite good enough for the UCL yet. And that's perfectly fine - player development is the key at this stage.

The kids are getting better day by day. We win everything domestically to finish off our first season.

We're also in a much better financial position. All thanks to West Ham – for some reason, they were willing to pay a whopping 63m for Abada! This bid really came from nowhere and of course I gladly accepted. To be fair, though, Abada was last season's player of the year.

It allowed us to bring in some more great players, like Zaire-Emery.

In terms of competitions, it was more or less the same as the first season, so I won't waste your time. We continued to win the domestic treble and entered the quarter-finals of the UCL, only to lose to PSG. Most importantly, the kids are continuing to develop nicely.

Next season, we welcome our star boy, the CR7 regen... things will get exciting!

TLDR

At the start of the season, we welcome our star boy — Jose Andrade (the CR7 regen). Remember that name, everyone!

To be honest, I wish CR7 had retired later so I could build a stronger team around him, but that's okay.

Also, Portugal got knocked out of Euro 2024, so I seized the opportunity to take the Portugal national team head coach position. This should greatly benefit Jose's development.

Match Summary

This is the formation I use for now. I would slowly start to play more attacking but I need some more time for the regens to grow first. 

15 y.o. Andrade scored 2 goals in his debut...not bad!

As you can see, most of these regens have 5 star PA...they will become world beaters. Just need time to grow.

Also, to my surprise, the team actually win the UCL this year. I certainly hope this is the first to many. Jose didn't contribute much in the match tho.

Got some quality youngsters there buddy, awesome. That's what I do as a manager, buy them young, send them out on loan for 2/3 years and boom. Keep repeating the process, sometimes sell at big prices. Into my 20th year now, won over 30 trophies and 16 league titles with various clubs. 

Keep up the good work buddy, have you got them being mentored? As this helps massively

Season 2 Overview

As my team continues to improve, I've decided to adopt a more offensive approach in domestic matches this season. However, I still prefer a more defensive strategy in the UCL, given the stronger opponents we face.

Jose is developing steadily this year. In the scouting agency rankings, he has climbed to the number 2 spot among the top wonderkids in the world, just behind the Suarez regen. As you can see, all of the top 10 wonderkids globally are from my team, so Jose definitely has a strong squad surrounding him.

Also, great suggestion from @DanEnglish about having multiple fitness coaches. I realised that the physical attributes really do develop more rapidly this way.

(P.S. Real Madrid made several bids to try to lure Jose away this season... of course I rejected them all!)

 

Regens this season

Just for sharing, spotting regens is quite straightforward. They share the same nationality and preferred position as the retired player. Typically, they pop up between July and August, right after the original player retires.

Match (Stamina) Management

I’d like to share some insights on stamina management. It can be a bit tricky at times.

First, consider the timing of the next match. Each day of rest allows a player’s condition to recover by about 4-5%. So, if the next match is in 3 days, you’ll want your player’s condition to be at least 85% after the match.

How do you achieve this? I let José play the first 45 minutes of every match. Based on his stamina, I then decide when to substitute him. Since there’s a +3% condition boost after the match, if I’m aiming for an end-of-match condition of 85%, I’ll substitute him when his stamina drops to 82%. Hope that makes sense!

We beat Real Madrid in the UCL semis...and crowned UCL champions again by beating Bayern.

 

Finance

I sold quite some players out for more than 150M. Plus we get like around 40M at the start of every season. So the finance is very healthy.

Season 3 Overview

After two incredible seasons, José and his gang are on the verge of becoming world-class. As you can see, almost all of my starting XI are five stars CA already, allowing them to easily dominate the league. It’s time to implement overload football to help José score even more goals.

 

Tactics

I'm employing a strategy that I've thoroughly tested in another save. I'm a strong advocate of gegenpressing and overloading in football to score more goals.

Season highlights

With our strong financial position and enhanced club reputation, we can secure some fantastic players on free transfers.

Harry Kane and Saka are both in the top 10 according to the scouting agency right now. Plus, Salah will make an excellent mentor as well.

We're becoming increasingly dominant domestically—even our old rivals, Rangers, aren't much of a challenge anymore. Though José didn’t play well in this particular match, he performed great in others.

We won the UCL against Bayern again to wrap up the season. Gotta give credit to Bayern, though—they’ve reached the UCL finals three years in a row, only to be defeated by us each time!
