Help Player plays like shit, why

I have this CM , I don’t know how to get him to actually play as I believe he should.

please help

I'm not sure if CM is a position he can excel in to start with.

Firstly, a ~7.0 average rating in the Premier League isn't that bad.

However we can understand why you'd want better ratings from him (as his attributes are excellent)

If you take a look at the image below, of your 3x central midfielders, this Brazilian 'do Nascimento' will often be the deepest of the three when you're attacking - because the BBM will run forward, the RP will run forward, but the CM will usually stay roughly in-position (except on overload mentality). Therefore he'll likely have less goals, less assists, and a lower average rating, as he's your deepest central midfielder. Advice: try changing his role to BBM.

Also there's not a lot of space for him to play in. The IF will want to run inside, the IWB will be trying to move inside, plus both the BBM & RP will be trying to move forward. That's not a lot of space for your Brazilian to be creative / be amazing. Advice - (1) try moving the IF forward (i.e. up one position, from the AMR to the FR position) and (2) try moving the IWB back (i.e. back one position, from the DMR to the DR position). Why? This would give more room for your Brazilian to have space, especially as a BBM, with an IWB behind him and the IF / CF infront of him.
