I just finished my busy work. I will test two more formations 4-4-2 and 3-5-2, if you have better options please reply to me:)

how about 4-1-2-2-1 / 4-3-3?

surely there's a lot of teams that have them as their preferred formation

Had an insight which may help, after thinking about these (excellent) tests a few days ago ...

Assumptions:

  • it seems & we've been told there is a different match engine for playing matches vs holidaying / simulating matches. These tests above were holidayed / simulated.
  • for 'playing matches' - it seems the match engine uses a mix of CA (current ability), attributes (hidden & visible), fitness / condition, morale, plus likely a 'random' / luck factor to calculate the result
  • for 'holidaying / simulating' matches - it seems the match engine predominately uses CA to calculate the result (plus probably fitness / condition, morale, random / luck)
  • adding +5 to an attribute will slightly increase the players CA.

Possible Explanation
Firstly, as this test uses holidaying / simulating, perhaps 'decisions' is not more important than other attributes 'if you are playing matches yourself'. Not sure, but plausible.

Secondly, as adding +5 to an attribute (e.g. decisions) will increase the players' CA - maybe actually it's not about the attribute increase, perhaps you're just measuring the CA increase (i.e. higher CA, better performances when holidaying / simulating).

  • maybe (!) this is because decisions takes up more CA than other attributes.
  • so in a normal save, your player gets a development boost (e.g. +5 CA) due to game time / training, then if it all went into decisions then the players would receive +1 decision, but if it went to another attribute (e.g. teamwork), maybe the player would receive +2 or +3 teamwork.
  • I.e. another alternative theory is that some attributes take up more CA than other attributes, and that is what this is showing.
  • Not sure, but plausible

Thoughts? 🙂

I am not sure if CA is even a thing in holiday mode. Not saying it isn't but I have reason to believe that there is something entirely else going on.

Because I lost my profile on fmm24 I chose to pick ManCity tonquickly gain the gold badge and a few titles a long the way.

So I gave all my players 5 Stars through the IGE and sacked ALL players/staff from my opponents before the game. I played against no names.  Have I won 10-0? No, on the contrary actually. The results were literally unaffected most of the times by the stark difference between my and their players. I lost so many games I should have steam rolled.

So I started again with a different idea, I lowered the reputation of my opponents.  I put them on obscure (the lowest), fired all personal (staff, manager and players) put their stadium size to 1k (just to be sure, right?)

And then I simulated again. And the results? Now they were definitely more realistic in a broader sense. I won the league relatively comfortably,  big teams got relegated. But sometimes I still lost particular matches notoriously. I simulated certain matches when I lost again and again. So often did I lose to the same score. Only rarely I won (so I concluded it wasn't hard seeded nor scripted - because I got different results)

So what does that mean for me? Vacation mode is practically useless for testing stuff with attributes or oppositions reputation (only affects it by a degree).

I don't know if vacation mode takes up like a formula of something like:

Reputation*match importance(CL finale for example)*form*winning streak(you won 5 times? Now there comes a loss)*maybe away/home(I lost home games against nobody's more often than it was realistic as ManCity)

Conclusion? I shouldn't even come close to have so many bad scores against teams with no names as mancity so that the vacation mode feels (without knowing any formulas) more like a weighted dice roll.

I heard reputation is important part for simulation.
