I'm after a suitable formation for my team. I took Kidderminster Harriers from non league to championship in 4 seasons. I hadn't really planned to be in the championship at this point but I squeezed through the league 1 play offs. 90% of my players are 2 star got a decent striker but the rest are just not good enough. I struggle to recruit decent players as my max wage is 8k. Does any know of a good tactic for a team like this? Currently just outside the drop zone

For tactics - I’d recommend:

• any 3142 or 31411 -  3x DCs, a DMC, a flat midfield 4 with either DWs or WMs, with either 2x STs or an AMC/ST combo.
   
• A strikerless 442 diamond - with a flat back 4, a midfield diamond (DMC, 2x MCs, AMC), then 2x wide IFs, and zero central strikers - like this one

• Or a more defensive version of the black hawk 4123 - with either 2x FBs, or a FB / IWB combo. If you have slow DCs, then a normal defensive line also.

About players - I’d recommend improving your squad quality by buying ‘promising’ or ‘wonderkid’ youngsters - who are decent for the championship, but have potential to be better - they typically have low wages (as are young) and some of them can quite reasonably priced / transfer listed / out of contract.

Thanks I followed what you said and the wonder kids have done the trick. Had 2 seasons just about avoiding relegation then a season mid table and this season I won the league. I'm guessing it's gonna be the same in the prem, I mean buying wonder kids and developing them to survive.
