Career Couch to 5k - joining the madness

I’ve been looking for something to pass the time before the next version and the 5k insanity I’ve seen people attempting looks fun. I’m not expecting to do it anywhere near as fast as the goal machine @Dai_ but even achieving it would be a nice bonus. 
 

Of course we’re at Celtic for this one. You all know the reasons why. 
 

I’ve gone full Bonnie Blue with this one so here are the barely legals I’m looking to exploit. 
 

I’ve never had this guy  I’ve monitored him a few times and thought about him for a 1k as he developed well but his aerial isn’t always the best. With 4 others scoring goals maybe that’s not so important in the new system I’ll be using.

I used him for my goal challenge and it’s well documented that he turns into a beast.

I’ve never seen him turn into a superstar yet but he has high potential and I’m a spurs fan so he’s in.

A good player but he’s lazy. Still he fits my system and is young.

You can’t have a team of 16 year olds and not have Lamine. The only oven ready player but they’re all 16 so I have time to mould the rest as I please. 

Let’s do this.

Season 1

To get the boys I wanted, I had to spend big. £72m for the 5, £49m of which was Moore and Yamal. 

To be able to do this I had to flog everyone. And when I say everyone…

After I’d made some new signings I couldn’t actually field a full match day squad so needed to get a couple of loans and also had some youngsters around. A slight error on my behalf. 

My second team was pretty poor so I tanked out the CL and rested my boys for the league and cups. 

Anyway, this is how the boys looked at the end of the season:

 

Considering most are still 16, they’re starting to look decent. Enzo clearly had a growth spurt. 
 

The goal contributions weren’t quite there but they’re so young I’m not too concerned. Yet. 

Goals: 115

Assists: 90

Total: 205

Solid enough but 18 of those came in one game!

Love the player choices. All turn out really good. Sternal becomes an absolute machine. A little injury prone, but a machine.

Great setup and choices.....I wasn't as patient and wanted a good return from the start with my choices....but pretty sure you will bypass me as the seasons roll on

Season 2

The boys are still young so we didn’t have a huge season but they’re developing well. I also tweaked my system a few times during the season but think I’m happy with it now. My wingbacks got 19 assists each so I need them to start sharing the love. I play them as IWB as I’m going through the middle so I’ve switched their sides so they’re on their weak foot and hopefully that means they’ll pass and not cross. 
Anyway…

Nice score in 1st season i not able to figure out how u guys bring out so many assist !!! This is my score 

So much behind in 1st season!! Still 100 scored !! I think that is good start !!

Season 3

One extra goal scored but quite a few more games played so I’m still not happy with my tactic. I made a couple of tweaks towards the end of the season which seemed to look better so I’ll run with this for the next season and hope for the best.

Outside of this, we won the CL this year which will help with recruitment.

They’re all still 18/19 but we do need bigger numbers.

Sternal is on 20 but yeah, van Persie’s won’t go up!

I need the league standard to increase to they improve more. CL win will help that.

Season 4

A good season as the boys matured further. 

Goals: 186

Assists: 111

Total: 297

 

Everyone is looking good now they’re a little older, and their fitness has improved a lot which helps get the minutes in. Sternal had a big injury that ruled him out for a couple of months but that was our only major concern. 

Moore is entering the final year of his contract and is asking for £400k per week (which we don’t have) so this challenge could end much quicker than expected!

We’re trying a tweaked system going forward (thanks for the tips, chaps!) so we should hopefully see some more goals fly in as they continue to develop. I spent too much time tweaking my system to get more assists but focussing on goals should help with both goals and assists.

Season 5

A solid season here. 199 goals, which is annoying to not get 200 😂 but I can’t complain. 

Goals: 199

Assists: 127

Total: 326

We also scored 185 goals in the league so I want to break 200 this year. 

They’re all looking pretty good now too so there’s more to comm I’m sure. 

Mikey Moore wasn’t doing much so I made a couple of tweaks towards the end of the season which helped get his numbers up a bit. 

I had to sell my star solo CB Bamba as I got a huge bid for him and needed money to Moore to sign a new deal. He did sign luckily so we continue. 
 

So far:

Goals: 791

Assists: 533

Total: 1325

Solid no. Of goals and assist !!!! you always start slow and pick up pace later on !! Moore is strongest them all if you use him wisely he can reach even 100 goals + assist!! I used him as striker and still he assisted as much as winger !!

Season 6

A massive season from the boys here. Sternal particularly getting over 90 goals.

Assists: 171

Total: 449

We had the club World Cup which helped with a few goals but the league is where we really ran riot. 

 

237 goals in the league is insane frankly.

I was on track for 250 goals at one point nearing the end of the season but a few too many low scoring games meant we just missed out.

Wow, those numbers are massive! And the 237 league goals that's just stupendous. I really really want to see you get to a goal difference of 200. Anyway, keep it up mate, you are really smashing this.
