1) Why Trelleborgs FF Women Are a Good Choice?

When I first loaded up Football Manager Mobile 2026 and was scrolling through potential saves, Trelleborgs FF Women immediately caught my eye. As a manager who enjoys building projects from the ground up, this Swedish Elitettan side presented the perfect challenge. They looked solid but not spectacular. What really sold me was the potential for growth in a league that's rapidly developing across Europe.

The real challenge here is geographical. Trelleborg is a small coastal town in southern Sweden with a population of just 75,000 - making it one of the smallest communities to host a professional women's football team at this level. The local area presents unique recruitment challenges as most top Swedish talent naturally gravitates toward Stockholm or Gothenburg clubs. This constant battle against geography makes developing and retaining talent incredibly difficult, but overcoming this challenge would make success even sweeter.

2) Stadium & Training Facility Information

Vångavallen is our home ground - an average modest 7,357-capacity stadium that's seen better days. The Youth facilities are equally average. The youth setup was virtually non-existent(No youth players at all), which explains why we struggle to develop homegrown talent. I will be pushing for investment in these areas, emphasizing that upgrading to "Good" quality in both departments would significantly improve player development and training effectiveness.

3) Staff Members

Our backroom staff is surprisingly competent for a second-tier Swedish women's side after geting in some Free-Agents.

My core team includes:

  • Christoffer Järnesjõ (Pyshio)
  • Martin Hammar (Pyshio)
  • Elias Fredheim (Scout)
  • Emelie Windahl (Coach)
  • Agne Vaudagna (Coach)

The main gaps are in scouting - we need an extra scout to cover more of Sweden and neighboring countries. Our current scouting network barely covers southern Sweden properly.

On a side note, I've been getting invaluable advice from Malin Levenstad, a former Damallsvenskan player & Manager who I work with in AI. Her guidance has been instrumental in understanding the nuances of Swedish women's football, which I knew very little about before taking this job.

I've delegated training to Assistant Manager Marlen Carlsbogard, who has been excellent. Finances are "Okay" according to the board (orange status), we're consistently over our wage budget.

4) Squad Changes

My first major move was signing two free agents who have transformed our squad:

  • Clara Thimstrand (23, CB)
  • Loreta Kullashi (26, ST)

I also made the difficult decision to loan out Felicia Blomstrom (19, GK) for the season. While she showed promise, she wasn't fitting into my tactical system, and regular first-team football at a lower level will do her development wonders.

5) Tactic Used

My journey began with a SLICK 4-1-2-2-1 tactic, heavily inspired by Franky's system which worked wonders on FMM24. However, there was inconsistency at first with this system. I realized I needed some tactical flexibility. For the second half of the season, I implemented a match-day strategy:

  • If we took the lead: Switch to Counter to protect our advantage
  • If we scored again: Move to Contain to absolutely lock down the game
  • If we went behind: Push to Higher Tempo to create more chances

This flexibility transformed our results.

6) The Results

Against all odds, we actually won the Elitettan by one point and earned promotion to the Damallsvenskan! 🥳🏆The journey was anything but smooth though. We finished with the worst goal-scoring record in the table, but conversely had the best defensive record.

Our inconsistency was so extreme that there were rumors I might get sacked after looking like we weren't going to fight for promotion, stuck in 7th at mid-way through the 26 game season. Luckily, results would then start to pick up.

But the stats don't lie - our defensive organization was world-class. And at the heart of it all was Loreta Kullashi, who went from free agent to star player. She was the one who scored most of our goals.

As I prepare for our Damallsvenskan debut next season, I'm filled with both pride and trepidation. We've proven that with smart management, even a small-town club from Trelleborg can compete at the highest levels. Now the real challenge begins...

Second Season in Damallsvenskan with Trelleborg FC

The second season in the Damallsvenskan was a brutal baptism for Trellesborg FC. The jump to Sweden’s top women’s division exposed our flaws, tested our resolve, and forced me to confront the harsh realities of elite womens Swedish football. Here’s how it unfolded, what went wrong, and where we’re heading next.

  • Final standing: 14th place, relegated
  • Goals scored: 13th Position in League
  • Defensive record: Worst in the league

If there was a single banner across the campaign, it would read: we started with optimism, we learned the hard way, and we’re not done yet.

The Tactical Journey: From Slick to Salvage

Start point: We kicked off with the familiar Slick 4-1-2-2-1. For the first few fixtures, the system felt hopeful in theory, but it became clear quickly that it wasn’t going to deliver results in Damallsvenskan. The gaps between our lines were exploited by stronger opponents, and our transition flows didn’t bite as needed.

AI assistance: I turned to Malin (AI) for guidance. Her recommendation was pragmatic: lower the defensive line to reduce exposure, and compress space to improve structural resilience.

Mid-season adjustments: The defensive line shift did yield marginal improvements. We were more compact, conceded fewer big chances, and our shapes held better under pressure. However, we still struggled to convert our performances into points. The attacking output remained a lull, and the goals-for tally did not rise to threaten the upper half.

Other tactical experiments: We toyed with:

  •   Tackling in own half to win the ball higher up the pitch
  •   Direct passing and Long passing to exploit quick transitions
  •   Press intensity adjustments and pressing triggers
  •   None of these yielded the desired balance between risk and reward.

Bottom line: The Damallsvenskan demanded a much finer balance between defense and attack, tempo control, and game-management. Our early faith in that 4-1-2-2-1 proved unsustainable at the highest level.

Player Development: The Bright Spark in the Darkness

Positive notes: Amid the grim results, we managed to identify and bring in exciting young players on expiring contracts. This was a deliberate long-term move to build depth and future potential.

Why it matters: With a squad that still needed time to gel and adapt, integrating youth with potential accelerates our planning for a stronger return to Damallsvenskan. These players may have been raw, but they carried tangible upside and competitive hunger.

The plan forward: Nurture these talents with smart minutes, targeted development plans, and a growth-minded environment. If we can keep a core group intact and accelerate their progress, we’ll be poised for a more credible challenge in the next cycle.

The Journey Continues

This season was a stark reminder that stepping up to Damallsvenskan demands not only quality players but a coherent, adaptable, and relentlessly disciplined approach. We’ve identified the cracks, learned painful lessons, and laid plans to come back stronger. The path to redemption is rarely linear, but with the foundation we’ve started to lay—through evaluating tactics, investing in youth, and leaning on guidance—I’m confident we’ll return to Damallsvenskan better equipped to compete.

Third Season in Elitettan – Promotion & Rebirth with Trelleborg FC

After a brutal descent, a rebuilding mission, and a steadfast belief in the process, we finished our third season in Elitettan on a high note: champions and automatic promotion back to Damallsvenskan. Our attack clicked, our defense organized, and the tactical backbone – Franky’s Slick 4-1-2-2-1 – proved to be the right call again. Here’s how it unfolded, the financial realities we face, and the path forward to sustainable success.

  • Final standing: 1st in Elitettan, promoted
  • Goals for: Dominant attacking output
  • Goals against: Solid defensive record
  • Wage budget impact: Intake of expiring contracts pushed costs up; balancing the books remains a priority

The Tactical Return: Slick 4-1-2-2-1 Triumph

Core decision: Returning to the Slick 4-1-2-2-1 provided the balance we needed. It allowed compact defensive organization while enabling quick, vertical transitions through the midfield.

Attack: Our forwards clicked, with overlapping movements from the wide players and efficient link-ups in the half-spaces. The system facilitated overloads in wide areas and rapid breaks through the middle.

Defense: A disciplined midfield shield and smarter positioning reduced the number of dangerous transitions from opponents. We managed to convert possession into purposeful attacks rather than speculative forays.

In-season evolution: We refined rotation, kept tempo under control, and preserved stability in key moments. The system stayed dependable across the campaign and delivered consistent results when it mattered most.

Squad dynamics: Youth, Experience, and Expiring Contracts

Expiring contracts: We continued to integrate exciting younger talents, a strategy that promises long-term upside but came with a short-term financial premium as wage budgets expanded to secure those faces.

Player development: The emphasis remained on nurturing homegrown talent and ensuring minutes for the emerging stars. The blend of youth with measured senior experience helped sustain performance across the season.

Financial reality: The wage budget took a notable hit due to expiring contracts and competitive renewals. We’ll need to reassess wage structures, optimize signings, and pursue smarter, value-driven contracts to keep sustainability at the core.

Staff, Scouting, and Club Structure

Scouting & recruitment: The season reinforced the importance of a sharper talent funnel. We’ll aim for smarter, data-informed signings that deliver immediate impact without inflating long-term costs.

Financial discipline: While results were excellent, the financial side will guide our choices going forward. The club must balance ambitious promotion push with a sustainable wage bill.

The Journey Continues

Climbing back to Damallsvenskan was the immediate goal, and we achieved it through discipline, smart tactics, and a commitment to long-term growth. We’ve proven the system works, the players can adapt, and the club can sustain advancement with the right balance of ambition and prudence.
