🔴 Manchester United – Control & Press 3-4-3 System (FMM26)

This is my current Manchester United tactic on Football Manager Mobile 2026.

I wanted a system that keeps control of possession but also presses high and attacks with purpose.

Here’s a full breakdown of how I’ve set it up 👇

---

⚙️ Shape

Formation: 3-4-3 (with two wing-backs and inside forwards)

3 centre-backs: one Ball Playing Defender (BPD) and one Wide Centre-Back (WCB) for extra width in buildup.

Wing-Backs (WB) push high to support attacks and provide width when the Inside Forwards cut inside.

Two box-to-Box Midfielders (BBM) keep the midfield dynamic – one supports attacks, the other drops to help defensively.

The front line features two Inside Forwards (IF) cutting in, supporting a Pressing Forward (PF) who leads the press and creates space.

🧠 Team Mentality & General Setup

Mentality: Control

→ Keeps the team dominant in possession but still positive going forward.

Width: Narrow

→ Focuses play through central areas and lets the wing-backs provide width.

Passing Tempo: Normal

→ Balanced pace; not too slow, not too rushed.

Creative Freedom: Expressive

→ Allows talented players to improvise and make key plays in the final third.

🧱 Defence Instructions

Defensive Line: High

→ Compresses space, helps the press.

Closing Down: All Over

→ Aggressive pressing from the front.

Tackling: Committed

→ Players go in strong to win the ball early.

Offside Trap: Yes

→ Works well with a high line.

Time Wasting: No

→ Always looking to keep the tempo up and create chances.

This setup works best with quick, alert defenders who can recover when the high line is beaten.

⚔️ Attack Instructions

Final Third: Work Into Box & Run At Defence

→ Prioritises patient buildup and dribbling into dangerous areas rather than shooting too early.

Passing Style: Mixed

→ Flexibility to switch between short combinations and direct balls when needed.

Passing Focus: Mixed

→ Allows natural movement across the pitch.

Goalkeeper Distribution:Mixed

→ Keeper can start attacks either short or long depending on pressure.

This is 343 Black Hawk with mixed passing style...

Games not been out a week and there’s already 2 guys on here ripping off your tactics and claiming as their own 😂

Would Blackhawk not take it as a great compliment though! As long as they said they didn't make it which we know they didn't!

I just wanted to share it. The fact that I slightly tweaked the tactic isn’t a problem in my opinion. If you like it, feel free to use it — if not, there’s nothing I can do about it.

Of course I didn’t — I used his tactic in FMM24 as well, always tweaking it a bit to fit my style, but trust me, this one is absolutely brutal!

Should at least mention the fact that 99% of it is taken from another tactic on here at least and give some credit

Nice results! How did the season finish, and how has it gone since then?

Do you switch between BPD and WCB depending on players’ footedness (outward) and who’s playing? For example, would you swap so the right-sided CB becomes BPD and the left-sided one WCB if that suits the players better due to injuries or rotation?

In the last few matches, I’ve been playing with two BPDs and one Libero in the back line, adjusting the team mentality depending on the opponent. My Libero is either De Ligt or Casemiro, with Guehi on the right and Luke Shaw on the left.

Honestly, it’s my first time posting on this site. I just wanted to share, and I apologize to Black Hawk for not mentioning it earlier. Enjoy the game, and I can’t wait to start a new save with a mid-table team from another league to see how the tactic works there.

I think a big shout out goes to @blackhawkfor all the hard work and testing he has been putting into this tactic since it came out last week.

I have been using Blackhawk's tactic with Man Utd, Everton and Liverpool. I haven't done a whole season yet. to busy. These are the results up to now.

The first screen shot is a friendly between me and Munich.

The next screen shot is from Everton, took over from in November first game was  after manager was sacked. Am managing brazil as well at the moment, won World cup with them. Switched to this @Black Hawk tactics and results are nothing short of abysmal. I am seeing the same problems that he has with Crystal Palace where the players are making same stupid mistakes of kicking the ball out when they have a chance to shoot, or Goal Keeper randomly making a pass to the opposite player then they score from that attack. Its completely baffling me.

Having the same issue managing any team that’s not a top top team. Match engine just seems like absolute chaos to me this year 😂 will win 7-0 away then lose 4-0 at home to a poorer team the following game

i know what you mean, I replayed a game against Aston villa over 7-8 times, i got beat every single time! I then tried managing a team in Spain, got destroyed by RM!! It seems to me that the AI Match Engine is overbalanced, because I have a Liverpool save and a Man utd Save and there both doing well, my Everton save is nothing short of abysmal, although i have just won 2-0 in Europe to some shit team lol
