Chat Why does this happen EVERY SEASON and how do I stop it?

Recommended Posts

Every season that I’m doing well, I have this wobble/bottle job at the end of the season. I was 14 points clear in the premier league but now I’m struggling right at the end while arsenal in 2nd are .winning every game. I’m not doing anything differently. I know someone will say players are tired etc but why does that not affect AI teams? At this point I feel it’s hard coded in the game to add drama /create difficulty. So so so frustrating.

At the end of the season, clubs have already learned your approach and playing style, so they start making adjustments to counter you especially during such a critical period where teams are trying to secure titles or avoid relegation.

That’s why you should try surprising them by making changes to your formations and tactics, so their preparations against you become useless.

I agree. It's kinda like boxing day, where other clubs start countering your tactics and make your prep feel useless.

There is almost certainly something built into the game to prevent unexpected title wins. In your example, Plymouth winning the Premier League is very unexpected, and I think the game is coded to prevent this from happening very often. I call it the "rubber band". As someone who likes managing in lower leagues it is incredibly annoying. Changing players, tactics, etc. has little effect. The only thing that works is to sign a really good striker who would never normally join the club, which breaks the realism.

I think this is all because most players will manage a top club, and the rest of the game is designed to be a "realistic" backdrop to that.

i do feel the rubber band effect after managing multiple lower tier teams, feels like the game forced realism in an unrealistic way

condition is soooooo important in this game. Rotating is key

Even so the opponents work out your tactics.

That's true, but it even happens when you rotate, manage games carefully, manage motivation perfectly. It doesn't matter.
