Chat Player labelled as goalkeeper but really isn't.

I had a player come through my academy. He is said to have very high potential but look at his attributes. 1 in most goalkeeping attributes and then look at the coach reports, he has good technique and is a good free kick and penalty kick taker. 

 

This suggests he was mislabeled as a goalkeeper.

Has anyone had this before? And since I can't retrain him, is he just useless.

Don’t worry, this is normal. there are goalkeepers who became famous for penalty kick taker and free kicks, like the Brazilian goalkeeper Rogério Ceni.

I get that but this guy has 1 for every goal keeping attribute. Even the worst goalkeeper wouldn't have 1 for kicking, handling, reflexes, aerial and throwing.

Use the editor to check his Potential the scout report is often inaccurate.

That is indeed very strange …

… and you also have an amazing opportunity here:

• can you get him to score 100 career goals (through taking set pieces) while playing as a GK ?!
• or can you get him to score 1,000 career goals by playing him as a central striker (even though he had no familiarity there) ?!

You are in the Irish league, so if the player had enough potential, then he could be an ‘ok’ keeper (5-10s for GK attributes?) or a ‘better-than-ok’ striker 🤷

Honestly even for the Irish league, he'll be terrible. These are my two goalkeepers, academy produced,  despite only a three star facility. Though we have 1 million in transfer budget, they still refuse to upgrade pass that level but then they agree to upgrade the youth facilities now it's 3.5 stars. But that's a whole other issue.
