Tactics The Killer 4-1-2-1-2

Recommended Posts

Good day, everyone.

I have been exploring this forum for a while, especially since I had some difficulties with tactics. I tried various tactics that performed well but lacked consistency. After studying the match engine, I decided to make some adjustments, and I discovered a winning strategy.

I began with Barrow after they sacked their manager. I managed to win the league and achieve back-to-back promotions while also clinching the Vertu Cup consecutively. Currently, I am dominating in the Championship.

What’s fascinating is my squad. They consist of mostly average players, yet we consistently achieve good results. Defensively, the tactics are outstanding.

As I mentioned, this approach is a combination of many tactics I studied here, along with my understanding of the match engine's dynamics.

Try it out and see for yourself

Just about to do a test with Leeds, it's refreshing to see a tactic not suited for real Madrid and Man City 😅

Nice 👍

I will appreciate your feedback

Sorry this took me so long to get back to this thread, but a pregnant wife and a two year old doesn't exactly lend itself to having all the time in the world free to test FMM Tactics 😅

So I'm currently half way through the premier league season with Leeds and the tactic seems really positive. Normally for me the best tactics are ones that allow you to 'Punch up' and beat the better teams with a weaker team and this tactic absolutely does that.

From what I've seen there is absolutely no correlation to when I might win or lose, but for the most part I'm winning. I've lost to team with a mix of formations but I've also beat teams with a mix of formations but out of all the tactics I've tested for a relegation struggling side in the prem this is easily the best for consistency.

I signed a whole bunch of high PA wonder kids but with pretty horrendous CA and started them in pretty much every game I could and didn't notice any drop off at all. Thanks for sharing it mate, can't believe more people haven't been commenting on here!

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad to hear it's working well for you. I've just been promoted to the English Premier League (EPL) with my Barrow side, and it's reassuring to know that the system is performing effectively.

I'm currently trying to make some adjustments to increase our scoring while still maintaining a strong defensive structure.

It seems to work really well in it's current setup.

Have you tried it out, what team did you use and how would you rate the performance

Currently using it with Pescara who's board request is battle bravely against relegation. After a rocky start, the players got used to it and I'm easily mid table at the moment with what is a very poor squad. It's got the players over performing.their abilities.

I noticed if you rotate early on so most of your squad has had a few games in the system, it costs you some results but it pays off later when you need to use them after your first 11 start to tire or get injured. I haven't really done that with other tactics so maybe that's a general thing.

Enjoying the Pescara save so far.

You are right, squad rotation is a gem if one knows how to use it right

I'm glad you are enjoying it 👍

Very good tactic this one. 1 goal conceded in 11 games.

😳 That's brilliant

What team are you using?

With your barrow team did you buy the players to fit the system ? I like playing from the lower leagues

Initially, I didn't sign any new players; I only utilized those already available in the squad. During the offseason, I brought in a few promising players on free transfers and also took one or two on loan.

While in the Championship, my focus was on finding players with higher potential ability (PA) and developing their skills for specific roles. The challenge was that many of these players were somewhat out of their depth in terms of ability, but surprisingly, they performed well. Toward the end of the Championship season, everything came together, and I found myself on a winning streak with a solid defense.

Lens. No major signings made. Finished 2nd in first year and won the league in second. Scored around 2 goals per game , also very solid defensively

Thanks for sharing @DannyRaMses, this seems basically the tactics I use since fmm21 with not crazy good teams ^^ can I ask you why did you choose look for overlaps + through balls? From my experience overlapping makes your tema wait a bit and slow the tempo, which is good in letting your midfielders to find gaps for the through balls. But since your only lateral players are the IFs and they are your main strikers too I suppose, doesn't this make them be a bit too much on the side and distant form your opponent's goal? Considering the through balls, why didn't you choose a high defensive line to press allover and use the counterplay to pair with the through balls and some fast offensive players? In my personal saves i've ised the IWBs as you do, but place them a bit higher than the CBs (paired with a high defensive line tho) to help the pressure and shutdown my opponent's plays in the center of the field. What do you think about all of this? I'm just trying to understand it better and try to match our ideas to gain the most out of the tactic, not saying at all that I am right. Justa wanted to have our experiences to match and make my understanding of this kind of tactics better :)

My defensive line was originally set to balanced because my defenders were slow and not very effective. However, I've switched to a high defensive line.

In the center of the pitch, it tends to get crowded, so I'm looking for overlap options to stretch the play from the middle. This approach allows my midfielders, particularly my box-to-box (BBM) players, as well as my inside forwards (IF) and supporting striker (SS), to get closer to the box before making an impact. I know it might seem counterproductive, but it actually works fairly well.

My main challenge now is getting the attacking part of my tactics to function effectively, as I struggle with scoring goals. Any ideas or tweaks you could suggest, especially regarding the scoring aspect, would be greatly appreciated!
