Tactics 2-4-1-3 Wing play- Unbeaten in the Championship

Hi all, this is my first time posting tactics on this forum. I did a 30 yr save in which I attempted the Glory Hunter challenge and win as many trophies as possible. My main focus for a tactic was to have a purely wing play focused tactic with the striker preferred as the main goalscorer

My tactics evolved as clubs changed to find a tactic as close to perfection as possible. Eventually I settled for a 2-4-1-3 tactic that made me unbeaten in the championship while winning the Fa cup and the Carabao Cup. 

My team also went on a 23 game streak without conceding.

Next Season I proceeded to win the Europa League and the Premier league in the first attempt after promotion. The season after that I won the quadruple.

Ok enough talking now. Here's the tactic.

Edit: Replace the RP with the BBM and switch mentality to attacking. It works even better.

A thing to keep in mind this also has a variation, mainly with the WB being replaced by the FB . It's recommended if you feel you are leaking many goals or your team is a small team in the league.

Wingback helps to create many chances for the front three. It is also preferred for the inside forward to have good aerial, but it is optional. However, It is a must for the striker.

The defenders, as with all high line tactics should have good aerials and pace.

What was the formation preference of your other coaches?

The tactic looks interesting - but I'll ask an obvious question - as I'm sure you'll get plenty more of the same.

After about 4-5 seasons on this game, you can get a world beating squad - god knows what that's like after 30. There is no way to gauge if your Spurs team massively over performed when you stormed the league, because the game has gone on for so long.

Have you tested this tactic with a team that would be recognised as significantly over performing?

Note: I feel that a FB in place of a Wing back is quite stable, but then Chance creation decreases so u might have to adjust accordingly

I employed mostly 4 at the back coached. Front didnt matter as I was the attacking coach

Yes that's why I am gonna be testing on other teams as well. TBH I started using thos tactic when I joined Como in 2027...a bit of a different variant (AP at AM positon and BBM at CM position with FB instead of WB) but the same concept of wing play. I remember at that time the DM position didnt even have a BBM role.

 

I used the tactic properly with Athletico Madrid in 2032 something with 2 BBM but I used an AP at that time along with Overload and work into Box. It worked like a charm and I won everything there in 2 years.

 

I properly tested this tactic when I aimed to win all 5 second tier leagues...and except for Bristol, won all of them in the first try (Bristol took one more). 

 

As for testing with overpowered teams I won the UCL and league with Marseille in the season I joined the club. (In 2044 I think) My striker scored quite a lot of goals. (I will try to send a screenshot if I find it.) 

 

I will be trying a country and league save (trying to get a country to win the league club and a club of that country to win the UCL) So I will see if any changes can be made or if this tactic works perfectly from the start.

Interesting tactic. What is good aerial for you? In my current save in 2035,  there are only three strikers with aerial of 17 or more. Only one striker with 18 and none above that.

When I see these 1k challenge and see their strikers with 20 aerial, I'm amazed. I know mentoring helps but it's such a rarity in my time playing FM mobile.

Anything 15+ is gonna get you more goals than games. However 12-15 is also pretty decent.

I will be testing this tactic with Sevilla. It looks interesting in my opinion. Hopefully it works for me too

One more tip if you are struggling to create chances: Switch to attacking mentality. Try not to go for overload

If you are struggling to defend, replaced RP by a DLP. This also helps in chances creation as it gives the BBMs more freedom to push upwards

You need to update your version of the game.

Update: I tried several combinations of midfield and found out that replacing RP with a BBM at CM position and setting mentality to attack is proving to be better in both attack and defense.

Just finished a season in the JD Cymru South and won it with Treowen Stars in the first season.

Try replacing RP with BBM and change mentality to attacking.

As for the same results, it is a bit difficult as there can be a difference in the quality of the players and squad

I've tried loads of the different tactics that have been posted on Fmmvibe and I have found that this one is easily the best for me. I changed the centre midfielder from a RP to a CM and I switch the mentality mostly between balanced and attacking depending on strength of opposition. I've only done two seasons with Villa but won the Europa League and finished 4th in the Prem in 1st season, and won the league, FA Cup and Semi-final of Champs league (lost to Real Madrid) in Champs League.
