Challenges Club and Country challenge with Wales and Treowen Stars

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!!

This will be my next challenge after Glory Hunter and this time I will be doing the Country and Club challenge. Last year in FMM 24, I took up the same challenge with Wales and Baglan Dragons but unfortunately was unable to complete it.

The aim of this save is to win, within 30 yrs, the Club World Cup or atleast the UCL with a team in the JD Cymru North/South and the FIFA World Cup with Wales football team and achieve a number 1 in the FIFA rankings

So let's begin!!

I started the save with 5 countries (Wales, England, Spain, Italy, Germany) and appointed as the manager of Wales and Treowen Stars, a club in the JD Cymru South which predicted by the media to be relegated.

1339978476_Screenshot_20260225_230745_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.0934a93367df874b54e054eb244fb5c6.jpg170030272_Screenshot_20260225_230740_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.2aaa92ffd13512148bbf17bc584edba5.jpg

Throughout the season, I will be using a 2-4-1-3 Wing play+ Tiki Taka tactic with any modifications as needed.

SEASON 1:

Treowen Stars:

When I got into the club, I noticed that unsurprisingly, the squad was pretty much depleted and there was a budget of 5000 along with a decreased wage budget.

Hence, I had to sign and promote some youth and reserve players on free to the first team.

Here's how the squad and tactics looked after the window.

The season started quite well, but then went down rapidly. My team was failing in both defence as well as attack.

Hence I tweaked the tactics a bit, changing the RP to a BBM and the mentality to attacking.

After that, results improved rapidly and before I knew it, we not only got promoted but won the JD Cymru South!! 🥳

My striker was my top scorer with 18 goals with my left winger not far behind

A brilliant first season with Treowen Stars with the challenges of the first division waiting in the second season.

Wales:

My career with Wales started absolutely terribly with the team failing to qualify for the World Cup due to draws, injuries and a 3-1 loss to Belgium

The team also dropped to 44th in the rankings. A far from ideal start 😭

Season 1 Summary:

A perfect start with Treowen Stars, winning the league was dampened by the failure for Wales to qualify for the World Cup. Looking forward to the challenge in the first division with lots to learn and a long way to go with Wales as we head into the second season of this challenge.

Ah something refreshing to see :) will be interesting this one. I have managed in Wales a few times. Good to see you take this type of challenge on :) takes years for their League reputation etc to get up to standard. Good luck buddy, I shall keep an eye on this 👀

SEASON 2 [2026/27]:

Treowen Stars:

Managing in the JD Cymru Premier wasnt as difficult as I expected it to be.

Transfer Window:

I sold a few players who performed quite well last season and bought many new players on a free (mostly from England and an amazing Winger from Wales)

2103073146_Screenshot_20260228_180158_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.26a94db7c726a0a4fac4c44caf4bca2e.jpg652979091_Screenshot_20260228_180155_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.577882576ce8d17a53df45a0c3464ae4.jpg

Since my clubs academy wasnt good at all, I had to scout other academies in the division and sign some wonderkids whom I can develop and play in my team. I did this in Jan since most of their contracts were expiring, hence I could get them on a free.

I also had a decent player come through the youth academy.

1924307943_Screenshot_20260228_185032_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.2847d4b75c1274a4e6f8c298990eab2b.jpg450684281_Screenshot_20260228_185027_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.a1403faf8c200dd1d4a7af80860c6ba8.jpg

After the transfer window, this is how the squad looked like.

Results:

Treowen Stars breezed through the fixtures easily and we ended up winning the domestic treble!! 🥳

This meant that we will play in the UCL qualifying rounds next season

863099500_Screenshot_20260228_185558_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.332a72188b50c3f65d20fca71b4edc48.jpg

The league standards unfortunately didnt change and stayed stuck at 50. A very loooong way to go.

611710740_Screenshot_20260227_234710_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.19336c0317a3283a97dd98efdeb8516a.jpg

Thomas was the top scorer in the league and in my team, but it was Welsh U 21 international Logan Briggs who really caught my eye. He is definitely going to be a part of my team for a long time, as I aim to try to make the team of Welsh players only.

31970267_Screenshot_20260228_180221_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.c79fc1d252103b19d574e56262695748.jpg1428146324_Screenshot_20260228_190028_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.7889c571d869b6e1c7763bbcee21508e.jpg

Wales:

Wales played in the European League Div B. We started horribly with relegation almost confirmed before playing good the last few matches to qualify for the relegation play off.

797912247_Screenshot_20260227_180020_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.9019b5f4f772480bbf73e05db0e53c52.jpg357062163_Screenshot_20260227_180015_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.c9ccc508e57bb5c2d4b2d47beaa8cafb.jpg

We met North Macedonia in the relegation playoffs and comfortably defeated them to ensure that Wales stay in Div B

837388927_Screenshot_20260228_184017_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.0384c9e93b0cb52f4f4409e5d14192cc.jpg

The last few matches of the year boosted Wales FIFA rankings by 7 places to 37th! So definitely a good end to the season.😁

Summary:

A brilliant end to the season with Treowen Stars winning the domestic treble and qualifying for the UCL stages next season. A poor start ended decently as Wales stayed up in Div B and moved up 7 places to 37th in the world rankings. The European Championship qualifying awaits next season for Wales.

See ya all next season!!

it was quite similar with my Welsh Quad Crown Challenge save. 😁

it will be hard manage Wales, at least first 3-4 years. Especialy finding decent GK.

anyway, goodluck with your career, mate.

Its already been hard lol. My keeper lets in like 66-75% of the shots he faces.

However I feel I am getting a hang of it bit by bit. Once I get my clubs youth system up and running, I dont think it will be a problem after that.

yes, it's hard. So, who's your goalie at Wales NT right now? Darlow? or anyone else?

yeah, you need to upgrade your facilities and youth, and some good regen will come. 😁

I am currently using Ewan Watts. Hes sometimes been good, sometimes been terrible.

I am also buying all the hot prospects from other Welsh clubs and aim to develop them in the next 4-5 years😁

SEASON 3 [2027/28]

Treowen Stars:

Transfers:

2027/28 Team:

Results:

The club, for the first time in its history, plays in the qualification for European football.

We played Zrinjski in the First round of the Champions League Qualifying Path. An achievement for a small team which plays for the first time in the UCL in its pursuit to win it in the years to come.

The first ever Treowen Stars side to play in the UCL

1336057589_Screenshot_20260228_232943_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.04ec999e25d78aed635af7c3c2944a98.jpg

Unfortunately we were beaten 3-1 in the first leg away and despite showing a fight in the second leg at home, it came to no avail. Treowen Stars were out of the UCL in the first round of qualifying itself

1873913048_Screenshot_20260228_234721_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.e2b72fdd2f08eb98cbd066c29137e83f.jpg

It was a bit of a blow, but not entirely unexpected for a team of such a small size and reputation.

The loss put us in the champions path of qualifying for the UEFA Conference League where we faced Linfield as our first opponent.

584705737_Screenshot_20260228_235107_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.fd4058b209749fad3999f59afabd3cbc.jpg

Treowen Stars beat both Linfield (6-1 agg) and Flora (7-2) comfortably to progress to the playoffs.

We faced FC Sheriff in the playoffs. Everyone thought it was the end, considering that FC Sheriff was such a large club compared to ours.

The first leg ended in a stalemate. However FC Sheriff dominated most of the proceedings.

It was time for the second leg at home which was going to be the decider.

And riding on quite a lot of luck, Treowen Stars miraculously won the second leg!!

1378172372_Screenshot_20260301_014939_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.7a5258ac75bb2dc5a84f0b03de5f6063.jpg605822557_Screenshot_20260301_014929_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.b024499602086017fbc380a0d3f8e196.jpg

Winning the playoff meant Treowen Stars made history: Becoming only the second club in Wales to reach the league phase of a major European competition.

2099794472_Screenshot_20260301_015002_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.e59736770e03a134c203102561fa3df8.jpg

The league phase, as expected turned out to be difficult for the club as we were eliminated with one game left to play, with certain unlucky results contributing to our elimination.

2143477996_Screenshot_20260302_085920_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.a5b5fd2d79f1e458efa6be5168b60f7f.jpg1382079789_Screenshot_20260302_015555_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.e849afe91c1922f2c32c6a2e7e2c8639.jpg

The highlight of the league phase was a well deserved draw to league leaders and eventual semi-finalists, Panathinaikos

Just as last season, we conquered the league, scoring 116 goals and won the MG Cup.

1306961619_Screenshot_20260302_181712_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.f72c4bcbf5280c4001d002de70387686.jpg95387414_Screenshot_20260303_014315_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.bbb27641ec44a4db73cf3d2b8a6eabd8.jpg

Unfortunately we were knocked out in the quarter finals of the Welsh Cup by The New Saints on penalties, which came as a bit of a shock.

638185820_Screenshot_20260303_023153_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.a1e81177dca88b954837e5b2e0cfc3fa.jpg

This season was also crucial in terms of infrastructure and youth as we upgraded both facilities to adequate. The youth on loan developed quite a lot as well and we will be seeing those players very soon in the first team.

1543128490_Screenshot_20260303_014209_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.5eed60d6f334e3b2eecfb714670817b4.jpg756747130_Screenshot_20260303_023753_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.f94617b979a0cdf0b97838a4309d1d0d.jpg

Overall a good season domestically as well as in Europe as we achieve to build more towards European glory.

Wales:

We started our journey to qualify for the Euros next year. We were matched with Netherlands, Austria and North Macedonia (here we go again), a difficult group to qualify from, with the 2 matches against Austria most probably deciding which team will proceed to the finals

1226506363_Screenshot_20260228_184017_FM26Mobile.thumb.jpg.c7d3e707dd2054f12a907c99c930a434.jpg

Surprisingly we managed to give a good account of ourselves and managed to finish second in the table!! We also nearly drew with Netherlands who are ranked 8th in the rankings.

Due to results elsewhere we didnt have to play any more playoff matches and earned direct qualification to the Euros!!🥳

Somehow we slipped to one place below last year to 38th in the world rankings

The Euro and the European group stages were drawn with the Wales' Euros campaign starting on 11th June 2028

A challenging group in the Euros but the team will be looking to do our best to try and achieve the best result possible.

Summary:

An excellent progressive season with both Wales and Treowen Stars. A huge challenge in the Euros is up next for Wales, while Treowen Stars will look up to build on their European journey as they reached the league phase of the Conference League in the first time of asking. A wealth of steadily developing youth players also coming through which we may see in the first team next season and hopefully in the Wales senior squad.

Nicely done there, some good transfers as well :) guessing your a professional club now? Which should help with growth :) well done in getting to the league stage of European football :) some exciting results there :) bear you in good stead for future. Only downside is your good upcoming players might want to leave for higher level football 😕

I am currently using Ewan Watts. Hes sometimes been good, sometimes been terrible.

I am also buying all the hot prospects from other Welsh clubs and aim to develop them in the next 4-5 years😁

try to persuade Elyh Harrison to be a Welsh. I think he is decent until you get "real goalie". 😁

Yup the club is professional now 😁

I will be actually willing to let players leave only if I get quite some money for them (atleast until the facilities are fully upgraded).

After the facilities are at max, I will definitely not be willing to let my best players leave.

Hes already played for the England u21, and he's ineligible to represent Wales 🫠 (his nationalities are England and South Africa)
