The Carlos Bianchi Top Scorer Challenge

Bianchi is an idealist; a man who sees football in the simplest terms. For a man who has won a record four Copa Libertadores titles, it’s all about quality and numbers. The best players win things. Bring them together – in mind and in focus – and glory is inevitable. That’s the Bianchi school of thought, and it made him a legend.
Bianchi himself was a teenage prodigy, rising through the Vélez youth ranks to make his debut for the club in 1967. His first season, in which he would be crowned top-scorer, would remarkably represent the high-point of his career in Argentina. Winning the Torneo Nacional was just reward for a fantastic Vélez side, considered by many to by one of the greatest in the club’s history.
In 165 games for Vélez Bianchi scored 121 goals, earning a move to Stade de Reims in 1973. By now – and little could Bianchi have known – his Argentina career was already over. At just 24, and with seven goals in 14 games, Bianchi had already played his last game for La Albiceleste. The disappointment at such a meagre return would drive Bianchi to success in his managerial career and create a bitter relationship between Argentina’s most successful manager and the national team for years to come.
Helping the French side to a fifth-place finish in Ligue 1 in 1976, Bianchi continued to prove himself as one of the best goalscorers of his era. Plundering 107 goals in 127 games in the top-flight, he was a masterclass in touch, striking of the ball and intelligent movement. His own career drove him to the natural assumption later on in life that quality is what matters. It’s ironic, then, that despite Bianchi’s undoubted talent and world-class statistics, he won very little as a player.
Bianchi’s zenith came during a spectacular two-year stint with Paris Saint-Germain between 1977 and 1979. Notching 71 goals in two years, including winning the Ligue 1 top-scorer award with 37 strikes in 1977/78, Bianchi cemented himself as one of the club’s greatest players. Indeed, until a certain Zlatan Ibrahimović waltzed into Paris with the determination of a charging rhino, many still considered Bianchi to be the club’s greatest foreign striker. He stands tall with the likes of Ibrahimović and Safet Sušić as one of the finest imports in PSG history.
    The Challenge Rules
Load up France and any other leagues and take charge or any Ligue 1 club. Sign any (or use at club) any Argentinian striker. The challenge will last for 7 seasons. You must secure the top league scorer award at least 5 times in the 7 seasons, this must also be achieved with three different french clubs.  Usual other rules apply Leaderboard

    Season 4
    Starting XI
Another change of shape here, trying to get the wing backs to create down the flanks we switch to a 5-3-2 formation. Mejbri is now the main AP as the Ox was ok but got a decent offer for him and felt it was the right move. Diaz was bought in at the back to add some ball playing.

    Season Stats
Just the double to show this season as we lost to the old enemy in the Scottish Cup final.

    Awards
So my formation plans backfired here as Driussi takes all the player awards! 😠
Mejbri had a great season and picks up the young player award.

    Manager Stats
Nearly £500m in sales in just 4 seasons.

    Larsson Jr
No change again here from Larsson. A bit up and down stats wise all season.

He had a few injuries this season which restricted his games so goals was down to 46 this season but still more than one a game.

So he is over the 200 mark now and 100 league goals. We should hit his old mans goals next season as his total was 242 goals.

    Season 3
    Starting XI
So a big change here as we go for a 4-3-3 to help support Larrson, I know we might lose some goals but I felt this formation creates more chances so hopefully it will make him more consistent. The back four was nearly fully replaced, Dalot on a free was a great deal. The Ox was also bought in very cheap. With Driussi and Klimala up front to support the main man.

    Team Stats
So we make it a treble treble here with league and both domestic cups. Better run the Champions League with a narrow quarter final defeat.

    Manager Stats
Decent profit here in just three years.

    Annual Awards
So incredibly Klimala nabbed the FW Player of the Year award despite being the lowest scorer of my three front men and lowest Avr rating. Mejbri is turning into an elite AP in the centre of the pitch for me and overtook the Ox as the end of the season for the starting place.

    Larsson Jr
So again no improvement at all in his stats, still decent enough though.

The change of formation didn't really affect him too much as only dropped a few goals to 59 for the season.

So cracking along nicely here and should break the 200 goals next season (barring injury)
I just need to pick up that other Player of the Year Award.
    Thanks for reading.

    Season 2
Sorry for the delay here, struggling for time to post this one.
    Starting XI
So a few changes here as Forster went back to Southampton so Clark was brought in from St Johnstone. Ristovski took over at RB with Jullien replacing the Ajer who went to Red Bull for £50m+. Toure from Nantes is a decent BWM, my front three remained the same.

    Team Stats
An easy league campaign plus the two cups for back to back trebles. Struggled in Europe, as always!

    Annual Awards
So this time Larsson grabs the players award I need plus top scorer and players' player.
Almada again taking the young player award.

    Larsson Jr
Not really change in his stats, he has definitely leveled out. Can't seem to improve him at the moment.

An improvement in goals though as he blast 62 goals this season, 35 in the league. Lovely.

After two seasons, 111 goals is a decent return indeed.
Will be looking to push on in the next few season and boost that total with some better performances in Europe.

As I have just posted this challenge I would like to show you guys my efforts on this one.
Not too many updates here as I am short on time and didn't take too many screenshots throughout the challenge.
So off to Celtic Park, we arrive and first thing to do is bring Larsson Jr in to try and follow his dad's footsteps.

With cashing in on Odsonne Edouard for £40m I had some money to reshape the squad. Larsson only cost £16.75m so not too bad for a decent looking front man

    Team
I've opted for 4-1-2-1-2 with Forrest pushed out as an Inside Forward to helo support Larsson.
Almada really lives up to his wonderkid billing as his stats shoot up given regular game time.
Stage is I think the first player I buy every game! I love him! 😍 Solid back four in place also.

    Team Stats
So a comfortable league win here with only two defeats and over 100 goals.
A cup double to add for a nice opening triple. Snuck out of the Champs League group but fell at the first knockout.

    Annual Awards
So Larsson picks up lots here but fails to capture the one I need as Almada takes the FW POTY award, what a talent he is by the way!

    Larsson Jr
So, he has kicked on a little bit in terms of stats but nothing exceptional.

Nice opening season here with nearly a goal a game as he hits 49 goals, 24 in the league.

Nice opening season here, lets see if he can kick on in Season 2...

Yeah, pleased with that...one more would have been nice.
I will see if I can dig out a screenshot. He is B2B/CM. Not amazing stats but quickly becomes the heart of a team. Always an 8+ every match.
Thanks, didn't want to unbalance the squad too much and will try to use the youth players too.

    The Larsson Rides Again Challenge

Bringing this one back for 2020....

He is the son of Henrik Larsson, who played in the same position for Högaborgs BK, Helsingborgs IF, Feyenoord, Celtic, Barcelona, Manchester United and the Sweden national team. The elder Larsson won trophies in the Netherlands, Scotland, Spain and England, totalling 242 goals for Celtic alone. Larsson was born in Rotterdam, while his father played for Feyenoord. He is named after basketball player Michael Jordan. He is Cape Verdean Swedish, through his paternal grandfather. Jordan Larsson was regularly seen at Celtic Park when his father played there, and accompanied him on the pitch in trophy celebrations.
A youth product of FC Barcelona, he began his career at fourth-tier Högaborgs BK in 2012. Two years later, he signed for Helsingborgs IF in the Allsvenskan. He became a first-team regular at the club under the management of his father, but was assaulted by fans after their relegation in 2016. Larsson then signed for Dutch club N.E.C. in January 2017, and after their relegation from the Eredivisie he returned to Sweden with IFK Norrköping a year later. In August 2019, he signed for Spartak.
Larsson has represented Sweden at various youth levels and made his senior international debut in January 2018. He was selected for the 2016 Olympics but was withdrawn by his club team.
Can you follow in the old man's footsteps and outscore him?

Here is my attempt, no full career...just the highlights.
For this one I headed back to the league set up for goal challenges...China.
Of course I needed someone young and dynamic to aim for this one so I picked up a "wonderkid" that doesnt seem to have been used that much on here so far....Takefusa Kubo

Plenty of time to grow and he has the ability to play in a number of attacking postions which gave me the range to test out lots of different front combinations out.
Increbiblity I managed to drag him out till he was 42 years old! 😲
How he managed to keep going I will never know, he was "Definitely Retiring at the end of the Season" for 4 years in a row 😆
At the end I am sure he could barely move around the pitch.

In his amazing career he finished with 767 goals and 761 assists for a total of 1,528

My career also took me to lead China for a number and years and I managed to secure back to back World Cups, just missing out on a third one on pens.

added 0 minutes later Yep, I have added my score to beat!

Roy Hodgson: The King of F.C. København Challenge

FC Copenhagen was only founded in 1992, but has been on a remarkable, steady rise since then. Having won the Danish Superliga 10 times, Danish Cup five times and featured regularly in European competition, it is now the highest ranking Scandinavian club in the UEFA team rankings list, sitting in 46th place.
The club was born after a merger between Kjøbenhavens Boldklub and Boldklubben 1903 that also involved the building of a home for the newly-formed outfit.
Their first season saw a tremendously close finish in the league, eventually coming out on top one point ahead of Odense BK and two in front of enduring rivals Brøndby IF.
The next campaign began with a 0-6 lesson by AC Milan in the 1993/4 Champions League qualifiers, but they continued to prosper domestically, finishing a close second in the Superliga that year.
In the subsequent years they struggled to make an impact until their fortunes were given a spark by the installation of Roy Hodgson as manager in 2000, who went on to guide them to their second domestic championship in the following season.

Top scorer that season was Todi Jónsson. He spent a large portion of his career at the Danish Superliga side FC Copenhagen, having arrived in 1997 from Lyngby BK together with the new CEO Flemming Østergaard. Todi, as he is known by the FC Copenhagen fans, is one of the all-time leading goal scorers for the club and a member of the Hall of Fame as decided by fan club voting. From 1997 to 2005 Todi played 207 matches for FC Copenhagen and scored 68 goals.
    Challenge Rules
Load up Denmark and any other countries you like and take over at F.C. København. The challenge will last for just 35 games to match the number of games Hodgson was in charge. You must sign your new Todi Jónsson. He is Jákup Thomsen, who is available as a Free Agent when load the March 2020 database.
Your challenge points will be made up of Thomsen's goals and your total manager points after 35 games (screenshot to confirm) Other transfers allowed. Usual other rules. LEADERBOARD

    The Phil Jackson Triangle Challenge
This challenge was inspired by the watching the excellent "The Last Dance" doc on Netflix about the Bulls and Jordan. Well worth a watch..

Jackson was the head coach of the Chicago Bulls from 1989 to 1998, leading them to six NBA championships. He then coached the Los Angeles Lakers from 1999 to 2004 and again from 2005 to 2011; the team won five NBA championships under his leadership. Jackson's 11 NBA titles as a coach surpassed the previous record of nine set by Red Auerbach. He also holds the NBA record for the most combined championships, winning a total of 13 as a player and a coach.
The triangle offense is an offensive strategy used in basketball. Its basic ideas were initially established by Hall of Fame coach Sam Barry at the University of Southern California. His system was further developed by former Houston Rockets and Kansas State University basketball head coach Tex Winter, who played for Barry in the late 1940s. Winter later served as assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls in the 1980s and 1990s and for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2000s, mostly under head coach Phil Jackson.
Head coach Phil Jackson, with help from assistant coach Tex Winter, won 11 NBA Finals with the triangle offense. Jackson coached the Bulls from 1989–1998. He next served as the head coach of the Lakers twice, first from 1999–2004, and then from 2005–2011. The Chicago Bulls under Jackson won six championships in the 1990s playing in the triangle. His first three title-winning teams in Chicago featured superstars Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Jackson's later three titles with the Bulls came with Jordan, Pippen, and fellow superstar Dennis Rodman. Jackson's Los Angeles Lakers won five championships employing the triangle. His first three Lakers championship squads fielded superstars Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, while his last two title teams saw him pair Bryant with fellow All-Star Pau Gasol.

This is a short one pager update on my completed attempt of the Bad Boys in Brazil Challenge
I tried to resist it but I ended up back in China, the perfect place for this kind of challenge.
A new club though, specifically picked because of one half my duo...

My first player is the reason I chose Shandong, someone who always scored against me before.

    Season 7 - Pink - Ben Chilwell
Thought I would quickly finish this one off as I have a few other challenges going to update.
So finding a pink player was quite tough as there isn't many clubs with a Pink kit but I knew Leicester had a nice one.
Then I found England's left back wasting away having hardly played in 5 seasons so I picked him up for a bargain £2.6m although his stats are terrible but I felt I could boost him back up

    Transfers In
Just a few more youth players, I seem to just be getting attackers though.

    Transfers Out
More good money for my youth players, Jack leaves also on a free after being a good servant to the club.

    League and Cups
Oh dear, I managed to lose the title even though I hit 95 points. My luck ran out and the lack of squad depth hurt me this season and I dropped too many points as Celtic regain their crown. Not even a cup also but ironically my best run in the Champs League and was a whisker from reaching the final.

    Team Stats
So in his final season Hernandez takes the tops scorer and Player Player award.
Marin again was FM Player of the Year and Kovalenko ensuring he was top assister in every season at the club.

    Rainbow Player - Pink

Very average from Chilwell here, never really got going or contributed much to the team.

So we finish this one with a total of 220, not that great and gutted to miss the league on the final season.
It was an enjoyable career with Rangers, as I have never used them before. Decent manager stats at the end and I had some very good youth players coming through, would have been interesting to see if I could have a full Scottish XI.

Thanks for reading and will be back soon with a few short career updates.

    Season 5 - Blue - Antonio Marin
So onto my fifth season with Rangers and I decide to change things up a bit and change the formation to a 4-3-3.
This allowed me to bring my my next rainbow player from Dimamo, Antiono Marin.

A bit of a coup really as I couldn't believe he had not been snapped up already.

Here is my first team after this change of formation. Marin is playing from the FL position.

    Transfers In
With Marin was just some more youth hopefuls.

    Transfers Out
Trimming the squad here and releasing the youth not up to scratch.

    League and Cups
Another comfortable league title and just the Scottish Cup to add to the trophy cabinet.

    Team Stats
Marin's excellent first season see's him grab the FM Player of the Year award.
Paciencia tops the goal scoring this season.
    Kovalenko tops the assists again.

    Rainbow Player - Blue

A cracking first season from Marin coming in from the FL position.

I guess this is my standard season here as I continue to struggle in Europe.
My squad is just not strong enough for the latter stages of the Champions League.
