    I have tried different variations too because I also have Bornauw, Maehle, Cantwell, Shackleton in the squad who can all play two positions because they're now trained for your system.

    @Van The Man - quick question for you - if you are watching the highlights, where do you think most of your goals are coming from?
    e.g. crosses / corners from wide. e.g. through balls from your APs. e.g. high pressing leading to an opposition mistake. e.g. Kane just creating things out of nothing. e.g. long shots + direct free kicks. e.g. long / direct passes over the opposition defence. ... etc ... Usually a tactic focuses on getting more of 1-2 types than the other types. You can usually identify this by watching highlights, or looking at your top assistors / scorers.
    Am wondering where you think most of your goals come from ... ?

    Quick Analysis
    Using your tactic, I played a few games as Man Utd. Yes your tactic dominates weaker teams + yes I can see why you struggle vs the stronger teams.
    Match - Our opponents are using a 4231, with a defensive mentality.
    Key Issue #1: Lack short passing options from the back
    Against any opposition formation with an AMC, with our 41221, we already know:
    Our DMC will be marked by their AMC, so we have one less passing option from the back (in yellow box).
    Normally you’d have the full backs available (but they’re marked) OR the 2 MCs available (but they’re too high up the pitch) ...
    ... so who should our DC pass to (white arrows)?!

    Answer: He passed it back to our GK. Not good. So we lack passing options from the back (vs an opposition AMC).

    Key Issue #2: Our B2B + IW attack the same space.
    As the opponents don’t have a DMC, instead one of their MCs will ‘tuck in’ to a DMC position in front of their back 4 when defending (black arrow), so our MC on that side will have more time + space than normal (white shaded area).
    However, as our AMR is an Inverted Winger, he’ll also cut inside (blue line below).
    So our B2B midfielder has time + space, but can’t dribble forward nor play a through ball - Why? As there’s no gap between opposition DL + DC, because our AMR has drifted inwards.

    As a poster said above, your B2B + your IW are trying to take the same space. Not good.

    Key Issue #3: No supply to the Winger, nor taking advantage of the space he’s created.
    In the screenshot above, you will notice our AP will drift centrally into the the AMC space when we’re attacking.
    As the image below shows, this means there is no-one in our MLC position to supply the AML / Winger. So our Winger hangs out wide, with no supply, pulling their DR wide - this means there is space inbetween their DR + DC (red shaded area below)! ... But our MLC is an AP and drifts centrally, so cant take advantage of that space.

    Stats
    Our DMC was mostly marked out of our build up play (McTominay’s 10 passes) Our AML / Winger barely got the ball (Rashford’s 3 passes) + our DL had the same issue (Shaw’s 7 passes). Most of our play went through our unmarked MCR (Pogba) + our IW (Greenwood), even though they kept occupying the same space. Our AP barely contributed defensively, perhaps not the best role vs better teams.

    Scoring Goals
    In terms of scoring goals, all four goals from this game came from set pieces or long shots (Inc. one deflected long shot):
    Against Weaker teams - you’ll get lots of corners, free kicks & possession outside the box for long range shots. So purely through a numbers game, you’ll score goals. Against Stronger teams - you’ll get less of all these set pieces + long shot opportunities. So your team struggled to score, as they have no / few other common patterns to score from.
      Suggestions
    So against 4231s, you need
    more options to pass out from the back - I’d suggest inverted wing backs (IWBs) + the more cautious ‘Anchor‘ role vs. stronger teams. better role combination on the right side - either change your AMR to a Winger / IF ... or change your MRC to an AP or normal MC role. better role combination on the left side - either change your Winger to an IF (if you want a 2nd ST) or a IF [edit: typo, meant to say “or a IW”] (if you want more through balls ... or change your MLC to a B2B or normal MC role. Example - at the very least, swop the two MC’s roles (AP on the right, B2B on the left!) with a DM / Anchor behind.

    Extra Advice:
    aerial decision - would you’ve got a massive aerial threat up front, you need to better supply our Wingers (plural!) using either CMs or B2B (not APs who drift centrally). Otherwise change your ST’s role. different ST role - if you’re also playing an AP, don’t play a CF nor DLF up front - as they’ll occupy the same space. If you’ve got a fast striker who moves into the channels, play an AF for example. Width - If you play both IWBs + IWs / IFs, you probably want to change your width to ‘normal’ otherwise you’ll be too narrow everywhere. Overlaps - Unless your right WB is your best creator, turn off ‘wait for overlap’, as it’ll slow down your wingers play as well. EDIT - vs stronger opposition, if they play an AMC, then change your DMC to an Anchor, to keep some defensive protection as your using ‘all out pressing‘ but they have an AMC to mark. If the opposition play without an AMC, then MAYBE keep the DM or even a BWM in that DMC position, as they don’t have anyone to Mark (though I still love the anchor).
    Summary
    Does this make sense? I can see why you dominate weaker teams + struggle against stronger teams.
    Let us know what you think ... 😄 ... and crucially let us know what works for you!

    Hi!

    I wish I had shared this tactic much earlier. But I've had very little time to test the tactics for an entire season. Our second child was born this year, so you probably understand.. ;-)

    Back to business. Don't use this tactic if you're looking for goals. No, in fact this tactic literally kills matches. Usually you win with one goal difference, but on the other hand you hardly concede any goals. In fact, your opponent hardly gets any chances. Defensively, this is the strongest tactic I've made.

    Philosophy:
    My goal was to create a very solid tactic that would work against both small and large opponents. Nice if you win 6-0 against a small team, but then if you lose 1-0 against a big club it is of no use. So the system had to be rock solid, but at the same time strong enough to win matches. Furthermore, I did not want to make any transfers in the first season to see to what extent this philosophy was applicable to the available players. My only requirement was a complete striker, so I ended up with the Spurs. For the best possible development, you train the players in the desired position.

    Nice tactic. I think when you remove the AF (only 1 Striker ->PF) and use an extra CM instead this tactic can be very good. Then you also have enough power in the midfield so that the IWBs can just become Wingbacks with overlap.

    Welcome Vibers. Today, I will be showing my majestic tactic used for months. Sharing its name with arguably the best player in history, Lionel Messi, this tactic also shares a lot of other similarities. It’s overpowered, it’s dangerous, it’s frustrating to play against and it’s massively consistent!
    The idea came back when I was making the defender-less challenge. I found Trequartista and Wide Midfielder are extremely overpowered this year. Not only that, we’ve seen the like of @Ian and @Rob getting high numbers playing the Trequartista. Let’s get to the first part.
    Formation and Roles

    I know, too many playmakers you’d say. It’s for a very specific reason. The main reason is because I wanted build from the back. Deep Lying Playmaker alongside the Central Midfielder will bring the ball from the back to the middle of the pitch. The Advance Playmaker and Central Midfielder will either, bring the ball forward before giving it to the Deep Lying Forward and make the final pass towards the Trequartista or, pass it to the Wide Midfielder and cross it towards the forwards.
    Shape Instructions

    Nothing much to explain this one. Narrow so that we can get more safe passing options. Normal tempo to make sure we don’t lose the ball by moving too slow and don’t be too reckless with fast tempo and expressive creativity to play a fluid attacking football.
    Defence Instructions

    Not the most usual setup I think. The main reason for deep line and own half pressing is because we only play 2 central defender and no full back. Committed tackling is because I would like to win the ball more aggressively while not playing high pressing.
    Attack Instructions

    I turned on shoot on sight due to the Trequartista sometimes receive the ball outside of the penalty box so I would like him to be the main scorer, thus shoot on sight will make him do more long shots.
    Mixed passing to make us look rather unpredictable and the same with goalkeeper distributions.
    Results
    The main objective of La Pulga is to make Trequartista scoring goals and not to win games so don’t blame me if you’re losing.

    PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO POST A CHALLENGE Right, now that is out the way. I would like to share my success 4-4-1-1 tactic I have used throughout my Jorge 1KC challenge; I am posting this because I know some players would love to do a 1KC challenge, but can't create a tactic. So hopefully this gives them a chance to play one, but without posting it as a challenge here.

    More screenshots of the results can be found in that thread.
    I must say, I took a lot of knowledge and tips from various users in the old thread, on how to create a lone-striker tactic, which can be found here;
    Also, through various DM messages, @Rich has given some guidance and advice on the tactical side of FMM which helped me in putting it all together.
    Right, moving onto the actual tactic;

    Players required;
    GK = Standard attributes really, nothing special.
    WB = I went for crossing/dribbling, along with the usual defensive ones such as tackling & positioning.
    CB = Usual attributes. (Tackling, aerial, postioning) Pace & Passing are always good if you can get them.
    CM = Tackling, passing, decisions & teamwork were my main ones. You want them to be able to win the ball back, and have the ability to find a pass quickly, either out wide or into the AP. Try and have a Left footed player on the left, and Right footed for the right.
    W = 2nd most important position here. High crossing/dribbling is a must. Ideally, pace & decisions will be as equal. In the spoiler below are my two choice wingers. Please bare in mind I am in the year 2032, so have had time to buy/develop world class players. Same as CM for left/right footed for each side. It will make alot of difference having a left footed player on the left etc.
    AP = Almost as important as W, but not quite. Teamwork/creativity/decisions/passing for me. I tried to avoid any AP with shooting over 15 as don't want them stealing too many goals.
    TM = The key to this tactic. Usual TM attributes are a must. High aerial, shooting, movement. Low teamwork would also be a bonus so they are a someone selfish player.
    Instructions;

    Balanced defensive line as not to push too many players forward & limit the goal scoring for everyone apart from the TM. However, you will want to win the ball back ASAP, for the wingers to get a nice cross in to hopefully land on your TM's head.
    Attack wise, the most common partnership of Work into Box & Run at Defence.
    WIB = You will want to try and limit any long shots, especially from your AP. This should enable your AP to think about the pass, and hopefully play it through to your striker.
    RAD = Mainly so your wingers will run at the oppositions back line, meaning your TM has time to pick his position in the box, perfect for when that cross comes in.
    The other instructions are fairly self-explanatory.
    Results;
    So, as you can see in my Celtic thread, I have had success year in, year out using this tactic, but for those of you who haven't seen it, I have a few screenshots to give you a glimpse of what I achieved;

    All of the above was won in 12 seasons, constant success domestically, and 10 Champions League wins in a row.
    Players results;

    Over 1000 goals at club levels, the highest scoring season was 100 goals. As you can see, between 90-95 was the most common result.

    These are my two first choice Wingers, and both have been with me for a number of years and provide between 20-30 assists a year. Not as high as others have produced, but a solid return none-the-less.

    Overall, this tactic has averaged 2.76 goals per game, while conceding just 0.53 a game. All while not spending that much money.
    I haven't managed to test this at any other club yet, but providing you get the right players for the right spots, I can't see it being a problem.
    Any questions please ask away.

    Thanks for reading!

    Hi,
    I've created this new tactic with the aim of scoring as many goals as possible.
    It turned out very effective and also has quite high possession given the formation and playing style.
    You can see from my attachments how things are going for me in the second season.
    End goal is to try and score 200+ goals in one season. Something I have never achieved before and in reality it is probably near impossible as it requires an average of 5.26 goals / game.
    In my current season I am sitting on 5.1 goals / game with 8 games to play 🤞🤞
    I've had great fun with this tactic as there is never a quiet game.
    I've attached my formation, some player histories, my current league table and fixtures, last season's league and top goal / assist and also some highlights from this season.
    Note that in Europe and the cups I tend to use my back up team but even they are smashing it this season.
    Any feedback on how it can be improved is very much appreciated.
    Good luck and I hope you enjoy.

    Hi!

    My goal was to create a classic and effective 4-4-2 tactic. In the end I came with this. Due to lack of time, only tested with Manchester United. It's important that you have fast wingers with a good cross and stamina. Left-footed winger on the left and right-footed player on the right, of course. The target man holds the ball for emerging midfielders but also scores a lot himself! You can just go for a 'cheap' option like I did with Weghorst. He has the right qualities. Power, shooting and heading are very important. As a partner front i picked a poacher who is always on the lookout for clever balls from midfield. The rest of the positions actually speak for themselves. In midfield go for a combination of a creative player and a dynamic midfielder. As a tip for corners I would always put the TM at the first post and aim for that.
