LoL, I just found I had this career open in 3 separate tabs waiting to read! That explains how I missed it I guess...

Wow, not sure how I missed so much of this career, I've been a bit scarce around here lately, but still...
Anyway, all caught up now. His heights were massive, his lows were ... not so good. As far as sweepstakes go, mathematically we can predict his score next season will be in the 40s...
Not 100% sure what's up with his development, but my money would be that he maxed out a couple of years ago, but that the game doesn't want to actually tell you that (I wrote about that in my cheat save career). Is he getting any increase after games at all? Or is it 0 every time?
As far as the league reputation goes, if it's too low it can stop his development in league games (he'll still improve after UCL games), but there will be a message on his Training screen that he needs to play at a higher level to improve. If it's not too low to actually stop his development, it can still slow it down. If his CA is already pretty high and the league standard is low, then he might be only getting 1% or 2% after games, but if he was in a better league that might be higher.
Anyway, wait until he has a 9 or 10 rated game in the UCL and check the post match screen to see how much he improves. If it is 0, then he's done and fully developed. If it's a small number, then he probably has a high CA already, but has a little more improvement, but it will come slowly - and if there are too many injuries, he might not ever make it to the next step (even if he doesn't go backwards attributes wise, it wipes out some of his progress).

Leaving all that aside, he should be good enough to be scoring a lot more than last season! So it's back to tweaking the tactic and maybe his teammates (maybe they are too good now and don't share with him enough?). Or I guess maybe he's not happy or something? That might explain why his attributes dropped without injury that time and could also explain why his numbers dropped off. Not much you can do except offer him a new contract...
Anyway, hope you get him back in line.

Thanks mate, yeah Danish league looking easyish, but so far haven't quite cracked it wide open like I've done with Scotland in the past.
Thanks. I end up using him a lot as I struggle to buy LWs and he's often a reasonable option and has a lot of improvement, but he's always been the supplementary player, never the main one, so it's good to give him his chance!
I get what you're saying about balance. In my head, I really wanted someone who I knew could assist, as I assumed goals would be easy enough to pick up - but now I'm wishing I picked someone who could play up front if I wanted him to, as I could switch him without messing up the balance. It'd be great if I could play him in the 'assists' position for 60% of games and switch him to a striker role the other 40%. But anyway, it's early days, no cause for alarm yet.
Thanks mate! Though now I'm thinking that if I was going to use a Mexican player, I should have gone with Santiago Munoz at Newcastle!
Thanks mate. I think Mr Bite would be pretty unimpressed with the state of things. Must not forget to take my tablets...

Damn, I was too slow. Instead of the 2KC you should have pivoted, changed tactics and got him to 500 assists to claim that split 1KC...
    But yeah, a 2KC wouldn't be bad either... 🤣
Anyway, smashing work, doing fantastically well...

Wow, nice rebuild mate - I'm no stranger to a complete overhaul, but the sheer quality of the players you're bringing in is amazing. I'm thinking this will be massive. Good luck mate (not that you need it!).

    You can train Technique mate.

That would be nice, I’d love some new roles, I also really want some new individual player instructions, when I say shoot on sight, I don’t want the whole team shooting from everywhere etc.
Also some more final third instructions would be great, to freshen things up.

I'd like the defend/support/attack variation on the roles.

Means you could have a winger on support means he's going to stay out wide and track back more. OR a DLF on defend is going to close the opposition down more than one on support.

I'm 3 seasons into this, so may as well start a career post! I'll keep the write ups minimal for this career, but this first one will cover all 3 seasons so may be a little longer.
I've wanted to do a split 1K (500 goals/500 assists) for some time now, but seeing @Ian do his pushed me over the edge.

    The Candidates
I looked at a bunch of players I'd been storing as good candidates for this: Fabio Vieira, Daramy, Bellingham, Verschaeren, Vignato, Unuvar, Nygren, Salcedo, Lainez, Gravenberch, Damsgaard, even Billy Gilmour.
I was primarily looking for someone who'd be able to cross well enough to get assists from corners, but who'd be able to score from the AMC position (playing as a T of course). Some of those were weaker on Crossing than I'd like, but had been good assisters for me in the past, so might have been worth a punt.

    The Club
But first I had to pick a club, as that would dictate which candidates were realistic.
I looked around for a while. Maybe Ajax? Brugge? Or Anderlect? Inter? Dortmund? Not Celtic again surely? Porto? AEK Athens?
But the more I looked, the more I kept coming back to FC Kobenhavn. It was giving off Celtic like vibe, a strong club in a weaker league, which is ideal for these challenges. It was a league I'd never tried before, which was appealing. And there were some decent players at the club, like Daramy who I often sign as a support player, and Wind who I tried to sign unsuccessfully a couple of times.
I did my research and found the Danish league was only 32 games, but I figured that might mean a more relaxed schedule and I might be able to keep him on the pitch more and keep him fresh. Turns out they have the whole of January off, which means they still cram games into midweek etc...
But anyway, my choice was made.

    The Player
I tried to get Vieira as he'd bubbled to number 1 on my list, but he didn't want to come. Therefore I went with this guy, Diego Lainez:

Probably not the sort of player most people would have chosen. Shooting of 9 looks worrying! But although I've used him a lot as an out and out winger, I once retrained him as a AMC and he did really well. Crucially he always gets a good number of assists for me, which will be important here. And of course, he's really good and always improves a lot. He should do really well in Denmark.
He cost almost all of my budget so I had to settle for cheap players and loans in the first season or two. We'll probably never be able to afford the best players, meaning we'll have to grow our own - but that's the best fun.
The one piece of buyer's remorse I have is how many games he misses with ITN duty. Mexico's fixtures aren't quite lined up with Denmark, so he'll leave a week before the other players and miss a game or two. Over the course of the first season I think he missed 6 games. I probably also should have chosen a player who could play up front to give me some more flexibility.
Anyway, there are no trade-ins here...

    The Tactic
    I tried something new:

A tactic with no Wingers! What's wrong with me! As much as I love them, I figured we'd be better off without them bypassing Lainez. The WBs will give some width without taking away too many opportunities from Lainez.
I was originally planning to go with two TMs in front of Lainez as I've used that very successfully before, but I didn't have the personnel to pull it off (ie not enough tall men). I therefore made one of them a DLF - I'd used them before (mostly with players off the bench supporting my main crew) with decent success, but also it seems everyone around here loves them, which sealed the deal.
That tactic was reasonably successful for the first couple of years, but I felt like Lainez wasn't quite dominating as much as I'd been hoping, so I experimented in season 3, eventually settling on this:

That's similar to what I used on the KDB challenge last year, only with an extra CD instead of a P in front of Lainez, which would obviously been unproductive. I also moved from Attacking to Overloading. The results seem to be pretty good, although he's not getting as many goals as I'd like - but we definitely started getting more corners and he's ace at turning those into assists.
I tried experimenting with a single TM in front of him, which worked real well for Messi and Suarez in the MSN challenge (with Neymar lost on the wing). but I haven't been able to make it work yet. Perhaps I'll keep experimenting, but it's the one above for now.

    Transfers
Just going to post them here, not much to comment - a lot of loans in the first two seasons, not needed in season 3 as some of youngsters had levelled up enough; and a lot of young hopefuls on the cheaper side. Key other signing was probably Scamacca who bangs home the corners for him.

    Results
Going pretty good domestically, but we've also overachieved elsewhere, winning the UCL in seasons 2 and 3 and also winning the Club World Championship. I don't think I've had that much success, that early - definitely not this year - so I'm pretty chuffed. It probably says something about playing 2 central defenders instead of 1...

That only shows the first 22 games of the league, not the extra 10 rounds of the 2nd part, so here is the final standings:

    Development
Here he is at the end of each season - as you can see, looking pretty good, but I'd like his Shooting to be a little higher:

He is still creeping up, but probably hasn't got much improvement left now.
He's had a normal spread of injuries, one or two each season, between 10 days and 1 month, nothing over that thank goodness. Not going to show the screenshots - too many to look through now.

    Progress

    Giving us:
Season Goals Assists 01 25 29 02 37 35 03 39 54 Totals 101 118 Slow-ish start, in keeping with my MO. Assist building very nicely, but the goal ratio went down in season 3 and is a worry.

    The Future
I'll keep experimenting with tactics and maybe even go back to the original one, as he had a better goal ratio with it. I'll potentially experiment with the other players on the pitch - maybe the other forwards are getting too strong and taking too many chances from him.
But really, I'm pretty happy. I feel like there are things that can be done to improve the number of goals, but it's harder to make up a 'deficit' in assists and he has that area covered.
Anyway, I think that's all for now. Thanks for reading!

Great job mate, just caught up on all of this. Gravenberch is top class. Was looking at using him in a split 1K, but couldn't afford him. You've got him looking fantastic I have to say. Let's see how he goes next season, gonna be big!

@Rich has advised me to add myself to the 100 club.
I have scored 100 goals before with players but this one is special as its whilst using a strikerless formation.

    GpG  - 2.15, I think.

I normally do what @Rich does - post before I start. Part of the excitement of a new save for me and having to write up each season keeps me going (well more often than if I don't write it up). I did once do a 1KC (Super Secret Scottish 1KC) and kept thinking "I better write it up now" and never did it until it was over!

    Copy and paste from above:
Been playing pretty slow as lots on at the moment. Just finishing season 2, a little over 30 goals/assists. He's gonna have to step up a gear. That said, the team is still not really strong yet and he missed a bit with injuries and ITN call ups (Mexico seems to have different windows to EU, so he missed about 6 games),
I suppose I should write it up, but I'm in a bit of a lull... Not sure I will or not.

Thank you for the feedback. Sorry I've not responded to everyone sooner. But hopefully it helps all your tips. Just because I've done 4 seasons now and as far as I know I think I've scored once for a corner

I always go for players with positive related messages on the Coach Report screen.
Eg for corners, you'd ideally want someone with "Can deliver a good corner". If I have more than one, I'll order them based on the Crossing attribute. If I don't have any, then I'll do the same with "Good delivery from crosses". And if I have none of those, then I just use Crossing. Some people take footedness into account for corners, but I don't bother.
Similar thing for free kicks - I look for players with positive messages related to that (can't remember the exact wording at the moment).

Scratch got a reaction from geordiekrispy in Any way of improving this side of the player??
@eternalaurora - Alright, here's the mentoring test I did last night - just looking at the effect of "mentorship finished" event on hidden attributes (not the other attributes).
I joined a club, set up a mentoring partnership and holidayed through until the just before it ended. Not as good as playing it, but I don't have time to do that.
I tried 4 times before I got one to work. First I used Herrera at PSG, then Goretzka at Bayern and both times it went almost 2 years and ended up getting to the point where the player felt he wasn't learning much from the mentor. Both times, they were a perfect match and had good influence, so I guess that shows that there's more to it than that. I know I've seen some players marked as good influences on younger players, so perhaps there is another hidden attribute for that somewhere.
Next I went to Celtic and tried Thorsby because I've had good results with him before, but he wasn't a perfect match, only good - I tried it, but the player lost interest in his mentorship after a couple of months, as was expected.
So finally I turned to Scott Brown, who I know mentors players more quickly than most (maybe because of his Leadership?) and who was a perfect match. That the test that actually worked and got the player to complete his mentorship.

    The Mentor:

    The Player

    Starting Hidden Attributes:

    The Partnership

Perfect role model and focusing on leadership (though I don't look at that at all in this test, just the hidden attributes).

    Just Before The Relationship Ends
By the time Murray's ready to graduate, his hidden attributes look like this:

Most are unchanged, but Unselfishness has improved by 2 over the course of the test. We don't know if it was from the mentoring or squad influence or something else.

    The Graduation
All the results are in this spoiler section if you want to look:
but here is the table summarising them:
    Test Trait Picked Up Main Attribute Change Other Attribute Changes 1 Work Rate Work Rate +8 Pressure +1 2 Loyalty Loyalty +7 Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1 3 Pressure Pressure +6 Work Rate +1 4 Work Rate Work Rate +8 Pressure +1 5 Consistency Consistency +6 Pressure +1, Work Rate +1 6 None N/A Pressure +1, Work Rate +1, Ambition -1 7 Professionalism Professionalism +2 Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1 8 None N/A Pressure +1, Work Rate +1, Ambition -1 9 None N/A Pressure +1, Work Rate +1 10 Pressure Pressure +6 Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1 11 Work Rate Work Rate +8 Pressure +1 12 None N/A* Pressure +1, Work Rate +1, Temperament -7 13 Professionalism Professionalism +2 Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1 14 None N/A* Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1, Temperament -7 15 Pressure Pressure +6 Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1 16 Professionalism Professionalism +2 Pressure +1, Work Rate +1 17 Professionalism Professionalism +2 Pressure +1, Work Rate +1 18 Determination Determination +5 Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1 19 None N/A Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1, Ambition -1 20 Consistency Consistency +6 Pressure +1, Unselfishness +1, Work Rate +1
Of the 20 test, the personality traits being picked up were as follows:
6 were reported as none (but 2 of these were actually Temperament) 4 were Professionalism 3 were Work Rate 3 were Pressure 2 were Consistency 1 was Determination 1 was Loyalty Note: I highlighted how much the main attribute changed, but actually the size of the change isn't really significant - all that's happening is he's taking Brown's value for that attribute (including a decrease for Temperament).
In all cases, there were changes to other hidden attributes. In particular, Pressure and Work Rate liked to increase. These aren't directly related to Leadership (which is what Brown was mentoring him in), so I can only guess they were bits of his personality rubbing off on Murray.
I was sort of hoping I'd find a pattern, eg "if the Professionalism is picked up, the following other attributes will always change", but it looks like there is at least some element of randomness there.
All of this is probably dependent on the actual mentor and the player, so it may turn out quite different for other players - still it's pretty interesting (to me anyway).
Anyway, not sure what it all means - I guess find the best mentor you can, with good personality, good influence, and the ability to train people quickly, assign them to players who are a perfect match and then hope they pass on a trait they are strong in and the player is weaker in (Brown passing on +2 Professionalism to Murray isn't bad, but +8 Work Rate is better!).
