Scratch got a reaction from Nucleus in Scratch Tries: Andrea Pinamonti 1.5KC [Season 14]
    Update - Season 14
Pinamonti enters the season having just turned 31 and showing the first signs of wear. He has 389 goals left to get to the 1.5K mark. Can he do it? A lot is going to depend on this season. He needs a big one before the rot sets in...

    Transfers
In the out column this year were Riccobene, De Rossi and Zaza, all of whom will continue to feature in my Italy team, but none of whom quite fit into the Newcastle squad. They can all play in far more positions than when they joined though.
Coming in were a bunch of youngsters, most of whom are regens. Yes, I cracked and abandoned my minimalist approach to regens. We have Tim Cahill's regen's regen. Amiri Jr. Slabhead Snr resurrected. Verratti's ghost. And (probably) Robben's clone.
Who knows where this will lead...

    Competitions
Once again we fell short of the full clean sweep. Here's how we did:
Won the Community Shield, beating Stoke 2-0 (one goal to Pinamonti).
Lost the European Super Cup, with PSG scoring two late goals to beat us 3-2 (one goal to Pinamonti).
Won the Club World Championship, beating Wydad Casablanca 3-0 in the final (one goal from Pinamonti).
Won the League Cup, beating Man Utd 2-1 in the final (one goal from Pinamonti).
Won the FA Cup, beating Man Utd 1-0 in the final (the goal coming from Pinamonti).
Won the Premier League comfortably again, with 124 goals, which is probably our best. We got a goal difference of 100 which is nice.
Lost the Champions League Final, with Barcelona scoring a couple of late goals to pinch it 3-2 (both goals to Pinamonti). We've lost or drawn a few games this year (including the Super Cup) due to two late goals (never more, never less). Maybe we have a problem.
On the ITN front, Italy played terribly in the European International league. We got relegated, with England being the ones to put the nail in, absolutely humiliating us...

For you England fans, you'll be pleased to know that England went on to win it (1-0 over France), with your PM taking credit for the win and saying it was all down to Brexit:

I'm now bribing Italian politicians to get this Itexit thing going...

    Assists
Who is providing all the club assists?

Once again we had a player step up and own assists this year. Once again it was a 30 year old who hadn't got anywhere near this many assists before. Last year it was Havertz. This year it was D'Amico (right wide AP). Who will it be next year?
Havertz also had a very good season. Messi Pochettino got the vast majority of his 17 assists in the second half of the season after a very slow start following his 12 month layoff. Rooney Kanu showed signs of finally being a force, right before he picked up a 7 month injury.

    Injuries
No real injuries this year (at least to Pinamonti). Only this ghost injury, but that was it:

    Decline
This is what Pinamonti looked like at the end of the season:

His Pace actually went back up 1 point to 19 (the normal level over the course of his career). Stamina, Strength and Decisions all went down 2 points on last season and Movement lost a point.
He was actually worse than that for a quarter of the season (17 Pace, 15 Stamina, 17 Decisions), but he rallied in May:
I offered Pinamonti a new 5 year contract half way through the season, which he accepted, but he's now saying he'll retire at the end of it. I'm not asking him to reconsider yet, because I can't tie him into a longer contract right now. I'll try in a few years if it looks like we'll need it.

    Goals - Highlights
Pinamonti had four 4 goal efforts this year:

    Goals - Club
He scored 92 goals in 56 games:

An awesome season, better than average, which is amazing given his attributes are starting to decline. That doesn't seem to affect him - when his attributes went down to 17 Pace, 15 Stamina, etc (as mentioned above), he still banged 4 past Man City... Legend!

    Goals - ITN
Pinamonti had 203 international goals at the start of the year:

And he finished with 219, meaning he'd scored 16 goals in 10 games.

Less ITN games this year, but still a good job.

    Progress

    The Future
This was the season we needed. Pinamonti now only has 281 goals to go.
He has just turned 32 and the decline is coming, but if he can average 60 goals a year for the next 5 years, he'll make it before his contract expires. I figure we should aim for 80 next year, then 70, 60, 50, 40 goals.
    Bring it on!

Scratch got a reaction from Foxy in Scratch Tries: Andrea Pinamonti 1.5KC [Season 14]
I just realised that I've passed @Foxy's 1209 goals (for Fiete Arp), putting Pinamonti second on the Leaderboard!
Although @Nucleus may have something to say about that, with his Mbappe on 1204 goals and a year younger than Pinamonti.
A couple of late runs into the box here...

    My Poor Messi Regen
Just had to share this: I almost didn't sign him in the first place, because I thought he'd score too many goals. Then I hardly played him for the first 6 seasons at the club, just off the bench or when Pinamonti was out.
It turns out that he is a great assist provider as a wide AP. No sooner than I'd discovered that, he picked up the 12 month cruciate ligament injury I reported on previously:

It took him about 6 months to fully get back into the swing of things, then just as the season was drawing to a close, he did his cruciate ligament again:

He's still only 28, so has time to come back, but how unlucky can you get?

Yeah, great stuff, truly impressive. Mbappe still has his pace which is good. I'm going to watch with interest how he degrades in comparison with Pinamonti (who is starting on that downhill slide right now).

    Update - Season 13/14 - Calendar Year
Pinamonti's calendar year record (so far) is 115 goals in Season 11/12. Can he beat it this time around?

    Club Goals
Pinamonti starts the year with only 24 club goals (after injury and a slow start to season 13):

Then gets a massive 54 goals in the first half of the year (78-24), followed by 47 in the second half of the year:

Making it a total of 101 club goals.

    ITN Goals
    He starts with 193 goals:

And finishes the year with 212 goals:

Making it a total of 19 ITN goals this year.

    Total For The Calendar Year
Club Goals 101 ITN Goals   19 TOTAL: 120 A massive year! I think it's enough to go to the top of the leaderboard, although I won't be surprised if @Nucleus tops it.
The key this year was the 54 goals in the second half of season 13. That's significantly higher than normal (most players fade in the second half of the season). I can only assume that the injury gave him a freshness related boost through this time of year.

Scratch got a reaction from samhardy in FMM19: Who to Manage
Great article, except for the inclusion of Sunderland. Although I guess they've earned it by sinking down to League 1... 😐
I'm toying with starting unemployed. In fact, I'm thinking about creating a challenge around that: Start unemployed, with a reputation of None, with all leagues in England loaded (to give it extra depth) and then see how long it takes you to achieve the status of Superstar Manager. Leaderboard based around the earliest date it is achieved.
It's a pretty vanilla challenge, but it appeals to me, especially early on when the game may have bugs and updates that would affect a 1KC.
Would anyone else be interested in that if I create it as a challenge?

Scratch reacted to Nucleus in Should SI call time on OME?
The EME is broken, but that’s not to say the OME hasn’t got its faults either. Like @Scratch says, the OME is now a subpar engine which doesn’t have a future and will undoubtedly be stripped from the game eventually (be that in FMM 19 or later) the limited resources that SI do get for the game is without a doubt pumped into the EME side of things. Which then makes you think why the hell we still have so many issues on the engine, but that probably warrants its own thread. I for one changed to the EME as soon as it was released and certainly won’t be swayed back.

Cheers @Scratch it's probably seeing you do a 1.5K challenge that prompted me to think, 'Why Not', stupid of me to leave it right until the wire for when 2019 comes out, but, well we will see.
I think the comments at the beginning is one of those things that they might as well save programming on, because it really doesn't prove anything, as you clearly pointed out, you can win everything, including the BIG games which supposedly they are 'frightened' to play in, what a load of crap.

I had a feeling Alaba would be a player that sticks around for a while. He’s just got those attributes that say “I’m going to play until I’m 75” 😛
Havertz/Mbappé - not sure which one is my favourite player this year overall! Checked the TTAC and yes, I’ve beaten the top score there - sorry @Foxy 😟
Mbappé should get the 1.5k, so long as o can finish it in time for FMM19!
Thanks for the kind words mate, appreciate it

For me personally, I'd let the OME die. If it's not really tied into the new tactics etc, then ... it's a subpar engine. Without a future.
From a selfish point of view, having us all on the same engine would be good as well. It would save all those "Is that tactic for EME or OME?" questions and separate sections on leaderboards etc. We'd all be playing the same game.
I know some aren't that fond of EME and sure, it's not perfect, but to me that's the game now and OME is purely a relic.

I guess the obvious one is Bad Boy Alaba. Give me a shout when you want me to add him. Can't believe he's going so strong at 36, what a legend!
Havertz is just amazing here. I reckon he will get to a total no one will match. And probably the same for the TTAC too (although I don't know what the top score is, but surely you've beaten it).
Mbappe is nailed on for 1.5K, no worries there at all!
