Season 2: Pushing against the Odds
Season 1 saw us perform well enough to secure an unlikely FA Trophy win under Braintree, but sadly, we were not able to get promoted to the upper echelons of League 2. We once again try this season, but will everything go to plan? Will I even be at Braintree come end of the season? Do continue looking on to find out!

I think the AI are a bit smarter this year in terms of counteracting your tactics during a game
The amount of shots can be misleading, as it tends to include blocked and long shots. The clear cut chances stat as @Dar J mentioned is a better indicator of how many your team should have scored

As of the end of last season I was up from Unknown to Obscure, not any much better but its improving!
Not sure if the FA Trophy would have done anything, but making it into the 1st Round of the FA Cup did help to push me out of Unknown zone!

Foreword: Normally I do not start with a challenge but I normally would have done a "Rise from the Bottom" career to kick start a new FMM game so why not give this a shot! Will be trying to find ways to make this career as entertaining for myself and for all who read it, but I do apologise in advance should there be long gaps between the posts, it is plausible but for once, I do hope that I can finish a challenge completely. So without further ado...let's jump into the story!
This challenge and its rules can be found in the link below, kudos to @Scratch for coming up with such a challenge!

The Story..... (Note: Its all fictional 😉)
Its been an exhausting few years of learning, but finally, I am finally certified fit to manage a club! It is a far cry from what I was hoping my life to turn out, but several horrible events in your unlucky life has only served to make me rethink your life plans. A long time ago, at the age of 16, I was stated to be one of the rising stars in the world. Hailing from Singapore, a country not known for footballing prowess, only made it even more exciting for me. The whole world was looking at me.....when disaster struck. A horrific challenge in a league match saw me suffer a torn ACL and knocking me out of the squad for 9 months. That was followed up by multiple ACL injuries in the next 3 years, and at the age of 19, it was clear that I was never going to make it with these injuries, thus leading to an early retirement.
Fast forward another 11 years. The world has forgotten about me now. After having tried multiple jobs and having not much success in these areas either, I decided to give football yet another shot, but this time as a manager. Now, at a young 30 years of age, I am ready to take on my first job.

However, with the limited career opportunities in Singapore, it was pointless for me to try and work my way up here, and thus I packed my bags and moved to the land where some of the best clubs in the world resides....England. It will be a long way up, no one knows me anymore, but the dreams of past to one day be a superstar of the world, it still exists? Will I succeed in my quest for personal glory? Or will I become one of the many others who have tried, and failed? Only time will tell...

    The Beginning of a Journey
After searching around for a job on the job market (there wasn't many to begin with), 2 clubs offered me a job. One would be Hemel Hempstead, a Vanarama League South club. The other would be Braintree, a Vanarama National League club. After some careful consideration, I decided on...

And that is how it starts! Stay tuned to find out how I did in the first season, am halfway through it so hopefully should be out over the weekend or early next week!

I’ll be honest, didn’t really have to look much because I was in debt to begin the challenge! And there wasn’t too many players interested in a semi-pro team...quite shocking to see Jay Emmanuel Thomas as a free agent, refused to join me because I was a nobody though

Damilare v chewkaiwen - Semi Final Results
Time to see who will be facing @Foxy in the final.
Damilare was the first to submit out of the pair and struggled to match what he’s achieved the last two rounds, in fact both managers did as neither won the league. Damilare finished 3rd with Porto with 73 points and a GD of 31.
That gives him 104 points at the halfway stage. 3 points added for each clean sheet and he managed to secure 16 of those finishing with a total of 152.
    Score To Beat - 152
Chewy also struggled and failed to win the league finishing 4th with Porto, who both managers chose to manage in this challenge. 59 league points and just a 17 GD puts him at a disadvantage going into the bonus points with a current total of 76. That means he needs a difficult, but achievable total of 26 clean sheets to take the place in the final.
    Clean Sheets - 10
    Total - 106
Unfortunately Chewy falls quite a way short here and it’s @Damilare who takes the place in the CC final!

    The Bermuda Triangle Challenge

"The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle, is a loosely-defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Most reputable sources dismiss the idea that there is any mystery. The vicinity of the Bermuda Triangle is amongst the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world, with ships frequently crossing through it for ports in the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean islands. Cruise ships and pleasure craft regularly sail through the region, and commercial and private aircraft routinely fly over it." From Wikipedia.
    The Challenge
You must sign a player with a nationality of the USA, Puerto Rico and Bermuda while managing in North America. However this isn't the whole challenge as these three must play as a triangle on the pitch. I'll be fairly lenient but I'd expect to see triangles like
    CB - CB - DMC
    DMC - CM - CM
    CM - CM - AMC
    AMC - AMC - ST
    AMC - ST - ST
The triangle can't be more than one position across or forward, so for example I wouldn't accept CB-WB-AML or CM-AML-ST. I'm sure you all know what's typically classed as a formation triangle. There is no stipulation on which point of the triangle each player is.
    Points System
League Points + Triangle AvR + 20 Points for each cup won.
    Rules
    1. Own formations only
    2. Official databases only
    3. No cheating/reloading/editors
    4. You manage in the MLS

    Season 5: Upheaval in Florida
First season in my new club, and lets recap what is our goal over here:
State 2 Challenge: Revamp the entire team so that it includes at least 15 African and European first team players. With said team, lead your side to a North American Champions League title.
For the fun of the challenge, I actually ensured that I got a squad of 15 African and European players in my first team in the first season, rather than win everything and then build the squad up. With a measly budget of only around 4.5m in the bank, I scoured far and wide for the cheapest bargains on offer that could add any value to the team...

    Season 2: New York Success
So we start the second season having won all we needed to win, but just a mere 28 goals away from completing the challenge. It was never going to be easy, and with still a relatively small transfer budget, I needed to be tactical in the market. At the same time, I have to hope that Orlando sacks their manager after I have achieved my goal, if not I would not be able to move! So how did we do?

So at this point I would normally load the screenshots of my fixtures played but a tired me after finishing up the first season at 2am totally forgot to take screenshots, so I'll work with what little screenshots I have to show you what happened in season 1...

Season 1: New York City Revolution
So as soon as I took over the squad, I noticed that aside from our really small transfer budget of 8.25m, and a huge squad with not many actual talent, there seemed to be a lot of work to do. We had some attacking talent in David Villa and Jo Inge Berget, but the rest, especially the defence, were...forgettable.  But first...my striker...I scoured the market looking for a striker that would fit my personality type, a fast, strong, clinical finisher. For the money I've got, there isn't much on offer, and I eventually settled on this lad:

He ain't the best, but he do have the key attributes that I am looking for, mainly shooting, pace, strength, teamwork, stamina and aerial skills. I can envision playing a tactic that uses defence splitting balls from midfield and him breaking away from the last man to set up a one-on one chance! At 6.5m spent for him from Mainz, it was never a cheap option and always a risk, but one I was willing to take. Given the dire state of my defence and the level of talent I attracted, I doubt I was ever going to repair my defence to a level I liked so hey, why not just outscore the opposition!
