I managed to catch Trevitt for a few mins this morning...
"Yeah, its been a good first season and the lads have been top class especially the foreign ones, some of the older lads I don't understand to be honest, its all double dutch when they're talking and that"
"What Boothy said about the manager is true, he knows his stuff and the training is full on, I've got my hands full keeping up with Malds (Paolo Jr.?) and the Yash"
"Who's the best player? Well its got to be the lad named after a football club whose name can't be spoken (huh? 😉). The boys got a big future, he might yet be as good as big Collin Quaner"
Stay tuned for more insight in the next post season interview...

Week 2 - The Results After the first week the 🇬🇧 team have a 1pt lead in the competition but that could all change as there is 7 points up for grabs from these H2H matches. The Brits could all but have the trophy in there hands if they can get a clean sweep of wins but the 🌍 team could also take a commanding lead in this competition if it goes there way.
You all remember the challenge so let’s get straight in with results.

    @Ian v @Mr Tree
This was unfortunately the least competitive match of the competition as Ian came away with an easy win as Tree struggled to get to grips with these formations.
    2-3-5
Ian choose Hamburg and scored 53pts.
Mr Tree went for his beloved Brentford and toiled to 4pts
    The Metodo
Ian managed one of the more popular choices with Espanyol and finished with 51pts
Mr Tree managed in the Danish 2nd tier with Viborg and did better than with Brentford to score 17pts
    The WM
Ian was very consistent in his scoring with another 50+pt haul at Bochum as he scored 56pts.
This was Mr Trees best performance of the three as he led Union SG in Belgium to 21pts.

    Final Score: Ian 160 v 42 Mr Tree - 🇬🇧 wins 1pt

    @Rob v @Daejeoncitizenworship
This was a high quality clash with both players getting points totals in the top 5 of this weeks overall scoring. There could only be one winner though.
    2-3-5
Rob used popular choice Watford here and it was a successful choice for him with a 54pt total.
It is advantage Daejeon though as he went to Hamburg and came back with 60pts in his back pocket
    The Metodo
Rob came roaring back in Espanyol though as he scored 66pts which is the 2nd highest total with this tactic.
Daejeon didn’t enjoy the Metodo as much as he scored 53pts using Blackburn.
    The WM
Rob went into the final tactic with a 7pt lead and Norwich was his final club choice which won him 62pts.
It would need something special from Daejeon to win now and Daejeon was his final destination. He put in a very good performance with 62pts but that won’t be quite enough to take the win.

    Final Score: Rob 182 v 175 Daejeon - 🇬🇧 wins 1pt

At this stage 🇬🇧 have won both matches and look to be running away with both the week and the competition as a whole. The 🌎 team need to start fighting back so could that fight back begin in with some Mag on Mag action.

    @Rich v @geordiekrispy
Rich had seen Rob’s club choices and decided that must be the way to go as he picked the same teams but would it be enough for the win?
    2-3-5
Rich made a blistering start to this match with the 2nd highest score with this formation. He went with Watford and scored 69pts.
Geordiekrispy also went for Watford and although he scored a very respectable 59pts he is now 10 behind Rich after just one formation.
    The Metodo
Rich was in Norwich for this tactic but he didn’t find it quite as easy only managing 51pts this time.
Geordiekrispy fancied somewhere warmer so went to Mallorca which scored him 64pts and suddenly from being 10pts behind he is now 3pts ahead going into the final formation.
    The WM
Rich followed Rob to Espanyol and came away with 51pts which again anything over 50 is a decent total but he is now relying on Geordiekrispy to mess up his final attempt of he wants the win.
Geordiekrispy was in Hamburg for the WM and was clearly now in brutal form as he smashed out a 67 pointer to get the win.

    Final Score: Rich 171 v 190 Geordiekrispy - 🌍 1pt

    @leedsunited87 v @broodje kip

🌍 have there first point on the board in the competition but they are still 3-1 behind and so they can’t stop pushing.

    2-3-5
Leedsunited was one of the only people to venture below a 2nd tier and for this formation he choose Bolton in League 2. It wasn’t a total success though as he scored 32pts to start.
Kippy went for Blackburn who were a surprisingly popular choice this week. He takes the lead with a 44pt haul which he was disappointed with at the time.
    The Metodo
Leedsunited is now playing catch up and he went for Deportivo in the Spanish 3rd tier next. He improved on his first performance with 40pts but will it be enough to close the gap?
Broodje picked Norwich and went on the offensive as he stretched his lead with a 59pt total. It looks like this match is probably already over.
    The WM
Leedsunited left his best for last as he went for Hamburg and scored 57pts. All three of his attempts have been good but it’s probably not going to be quite enough.
Broodje also pulled out his best effort at the end as he also went to Hamburg and came away with 63pts and the win for his team.

    Final Score: Leedsunited 129 v 166 Broodje Kip - 🌍 1pt

So suddenly from 2-0 down the 🌍 team have brought it back to 2-2. There is still 3 matches and 3 points left to play for though so nothing is settled.

    @MikeF v @Dai_
Both these lads made strong starts last week and this looked like it could be a close match.

    2-3-5
It was Espanyol to start for Mike and a good effort although by his own admission a bit leaky at the back. He did score 43pts though.
Dai went to Korea to manage Daejeon and came away with a formation high score of 80pts with 15 wins out of 15 and a GD of +40
    The Metodo
This is already looking over as Mike is fighting back from a 37pt deficit. He went to Brescia for this attempt and scored 41pts.
Dai could have relaxed at this stage but the bloke doesn’t know the meaning of the word as he posted another tactic high score. Hamburg was his club of choice and although he will be disappointed with drawing a game he did win the other 14 to score 75pts.
    The WM
This match is already over barring a miracle but Mike kept going for his teammates and every point counts in the Golden Mobile. He went to Hamburg and scored 37pts this time.
Dai will be very disappointed with this attempt as he didn’t have the highest score for this formation and in fact it was “only” the third highest total. He managed Watford and took away 70pts.

    Final Score: MikeF 121pts v 230 Dai - 🌍 1pt

So the 🌎 team have turned this around and now lead 3-2 for the week and it’s 3-3 for the competition as a whole. If they can win both the final games they will go into week 3 with a 2 point lead but two final wins for 🇬🇧 will do the same.

    @Albionic v @Victor77
Victor comes into this event as an unknown quantity having taken over from Antonie but he certainly gave a good account of himself.

    2-3-5
It was Cambuur in the Dutch 2nd division where Albionic started but it didn’t go quite to plan for him as the team weren’t quite as good as there real life performance suggests. He finished up with 37pts.
Victor choose Zhejiang in the Chinese 2nd Division for his first attempt and takes an early lead with 42pts.
    The Metodo
This match is still either sides and Albionic went for Hamburg next. This was much more successful for him as he scored 64 points to put the pressure on Victor.
Victor was also in Germany but he went for Hannover and unfortunately let his lead slip as he scored 46pts.
    The WM
So going into the final formation Albionic just needs a solid total and he should win the match. He had found his feet now though and with Watford he got the 2nd highest total on this formation with a score of 71pts.
It has been a valiant effort by Victor but it wasn’t quite enough in the end. He also managed Watford for the WM and scored a very good 65pts.

    Final Score: Albionic 172 v 153 Victor - 🇬🇧 1pt

With that win 🇬🇧 make it 3-3 for this weeks challenge and 4-3 overall. If they can take the final match they will go into next weeks group challenge with a 2 point lead.

    @Woody v @hhooo
Woody had his score cut last week due to not following the rules but this week he had his reading glasses on and had no problems in that respect.

    2-3-5
Woody managed Hamburg to start and started out well with a score of 51pts.
Hhooo went to Korea and like Dai managed Daejeon although he wasn’t quite as successful. He scored 50pts to give Woody a slender lead after the first formation.
    The Metodo
Toulouse was Woodys next stop and he showed his consistency by scoring 51pts again.
Hhooo was ready to pounce though and take the lead and he would do so in Argentina and Sarmiento de Junín. He scored 62 points here to go from a point behind Woody to 10 points ahead.
    The WM
Woody needed something special here to get a win but his form deserted him right at the last minute. He managed Hearts in the Scottish championship but it was broken hearts as he could only manage a score of 30.
Hhooo just needed to bring it home now and his choice here was Esbjerg in Denmark. This was an inspired choice as he scored the highest WM points total of the week with 73pts thanks to 14 wins, 1 draw and +30 GD.

    Final Score: Woody 132 v 185 Hhooo - 🌍 1pt

That brings this weeks challenge to an end and it’s a 4-3 win for the world 🌍 team. What that means is going into next week we have a tie with both teams on 4 points.

    Golden Mobile
Dai was the big mover here as he is now in top spot following his top score this week. It is close though and Rich, Hhooo and Rob all have a chance with even Albionic and Ian not that far behind if they have good weeks.

Here is everyone’s scores this week.
    Dai - 230
    Geordiekrispy - 190
    Hhoo - 185
    Rob - 182
    Daejeon - 175
    Albionic - 172
    Rich - 171
    Broodje Kip - 166
    Ian - 160
    Victor - 153
    Woody - 132
    Leedsunited - 129
    MikeF - 121
    Mr Tree - 42

Next weeks challenge will be out tomorrow.

L_Dotz reacted to StAnton14 in Sunderland Playthrough because Iain told me to
    Hello folks!
I am a fan of the "Football Manager Show" podcast hosted by Iain Macintosh. In the latest episode "25. New Season, News Pods, New You!" Iain called to listeners to join a community of FM players in starting a Sunderland save. My favourite save this year has been taking my local team Exeter City to the top of the PL (although I did cheat and used Sugar Daddy) and so I'm familiar with this journey, but wanted to do it again without Sugar Daddy. I am now ready to take a team from Sky Bet League One back to the Premiere League without the financial assistance of Daddy.
I'm currently writing this after my preseason tour of the South West, results below:
Torquay 2-0 W Plymouth 1-1 D Exeter 2-0 W and a token trip to Salford for a 1-0 W We have also played out first competitive game against Bradford City in the first round of the Carabao Cup winning 1-0 thanks to Jordan Willis knocking in a rebound at a corner.

    Formation & Playing Style
I wanted to try something new after playing a short passing 433/4231 on Overload with Exeter City in my previous save.
I really do not get on with 3/5 at the back formations so those are off the cards. Sunderland really lack wide talent and only really have Aiden McGeady (more on him in the transfers section) and Jack Diamond who just isn't up to scratch. On the flip side whilst Power, Dobson (a player I recruited in my Exeter save), Scowen (and to a lesser extent Leadbitter) are not technically blessed they are all aggressive midfielders decent good teamwork and stamina.
I decided to go with a narrow 41212 formation with WBs. In attack this plays as a 2422 and in defence it plays like a 4132. This will obviously change and develop over time, I'm not happy with how the BBM is drawn out to the right wing in defence and the BWM stays central and doesn't shift over to cover the space in midfield so will play around with this. Any feedback greatly appreciated!

    Transfers
I want to keep this save at least somewhat realistic and so ignored my scouts suggestion of signing Ugarte, Strinic or Kjaer. We had a really healthy transfer budget over £5 million but needed to cut some of our wages. Realistically this squad is good enough to get promoted and I would rather keep the money to spend it in the Championship. Once you reach the Championship the pool of talent to pick signings from is much, much better.
    Transfers Out
Aidan McGeady: After realising I needed to cut my wage bill I ordered my team by wage and immediately stuck Aiden McGeady on the transfer list. £16k/week is just too much for a player in League One and I didn't want to try and shoe horn him as an advanced playmaker at AMC. I promptly accepted the first offer of £150k from Bristol Rovers just to get him out of the club. Conor McLaughlin: No offence fella, I just really dislike having more than 2 full backs on either side and O'Nien/Sanderson (on loan mind) better suit what I'm looking for. Sold for £275k. A whole bunch of youth players: I had my Anakin Skywalker moment, sorry lads enjoy your time in the Vanarama.  Transfers In
Jason Taylor: I needed a CDM with better positioning and tackling than my current options. Taylor was the only player interested so we signed him for just £20k and £1.5k wages. At 33 years old he's definitely just a quick fix to see us through League One and the start of our adventure in to the Championship (hopefully!)
Jack Byrne: I wanted a CAM with decent aggression and teamwork to help the rest of the headless chickens press. Jack Byrne was a cheap and decent option who could probably be back up in the Championship too. We signed him for £500k and £6k wages.
Fiete Arp (LOAN): Is it realistic for Sunderland to sign a Bayern Munich player on £88k/week for a loan with no contribution to wages? Not these days. But, is it realistic for an English 3rd tier team to loan in a player from a German 3rd tier team? Probably! And that's good enough for me. A clear upgrade on O'Brien and Grigg at Poacher so happy days.
    The 1st Game
All set and ready to go after pre-season only to discover my 1st choice CBs Bailey Wright and Arbenit Xhemajli were both on international duty at the same time! On top of that Scowen picked up an injury which complicated set-up a little. In came goal scorer Jordan Willis and Feeney at CB.
In any case we went on to dominate Bradford City with 62% possession, 15 shots (7 on target) against their 2 shots off target. Had Arp or Graham brought their shooting boots it could have been a blood bath.
    On we go!

    The Scorned 6 - Season 2
The seasons pass. And we grow strong.

    Transfers
Some of our brothers left to join other packs. We did not mind. Only one was strong and he (Palhinha) did not want to stay. We have pups who are as strong as him already.
Others joined our pack. McKennie, Lewis and Aarons made us stronger. The others will help in future.

    Results

The League was easy, but Benfica beat us with these penalty things in the League Cup and Chelsea beat us with away goals in the first knockout stage of the UCL. Next time we will not give them the chance to use these things.

    The Hunters
    The hunters are growing strong:

Arzani and Koita are fully grown. The others still growing.

    Injuries
Injuries are supposed to be part of life. But not this year. This year we were lucky. Though Koita joined his friends in Africa for a month to hunt a cup there.

    Season 1 Review
We've completed our first season and I’m really enjoying the league format. The seasons get done quick and it’s a fairly competitive league. I wasn’t sure what to really expect from the team so I set myself a goal of a mid-table finish. Here’s how we got on:
    Team Performance/Competitions
    Eredivise:

We’ve done an amazing job this season! Our 4th place finish in the league meant that we entered the play-off for European places. We scraped a 1-0 against AZ and we were off to play Utrecht in the Final. Our defensive record was one of the worst in the league so that’s something to improve on next season. I’ve dropped our wing-backs down to full-backs and it’s seemed to do much better so we’ll run with that and see if we can plug up that leaky defence.

We’re in Europe!!! Well, not technically yet but we’ll be entering the qualifiers so there’s a prospect of us playing some big teams in the Conference League. It’ll bring great experience for the lads and hopefully we can go far!
    Dutch Cup:
I completely forgot to take a screenshot of the game but we ended up crashing out in the Fourth Round against Cambuur. Lost 3-2 and even though a late push saw us claim back 2 goals, the veterans really didn’t do well. Shame but it allowed us to focus on the league.
    Fixtures

A lot more red than I would’ve hoped for but it’s okay, we’re only getting started and the boys are steadily improving and slowly become world-beaters. The big teams in the league proved to be a challenge and that’s where we’ve dropped a majority of the points. Still a good showing and we did well to establish ourselves as contenders in the seasons to come.
    League Stats
    Goals:

@Rich/Davies was in a league of his own! Did fantastically well to claim the Golden Boot and @broodje kip just about made it into the top 10. Our attacking force is looking really scary and the opposition defenders should be shaking in their boots.
    Assists:

@leedsunited87/Marty with a massive 20 assists! Truly a world class talent, he is making the Dutch league his playground. @Rich also gets into the top 10 with 9 assists bringing his total goal involvement in the league to 37!
    Club Records 2020/21

Not much to say here really. Would’ve hoped for a longer win streak but every time we picked up some pace, a big team would just turn up and take us down a peg. The 5-4 win against Sittard was a great game to witness and I’m sure the fans loved it too!
    Individual Awards
    @Rich/Davies - Top Goalscorer

Great 1st season for our Welsh marksman! Really settled into the league well and I’m hoping his form continues as we look to challenge the big boys next year.
@broodje kip - Young Player of the Year

The Dutchman had no problems taking on the Eredivise. It’s his home league and he showed that he is very comfortable here. 19 goal involvements really set up our Wonderkid for a fantastic future.
    Player Stats/Profiles

We’re very consistent. Almost all of our players averaged a rating over 7 with only @MertNobre dropping below that. It’s not alarming however, we’re sure he’ll bounce back and have a great second season.

Our coaches rate the team very highly. @YungGaffer/Yashin and @leedsunited87/Marty come in as our most expensive players with massive price tags! £31.5 and £84 million respectively. Some impressive gains from our central midfielders too, @Mr B/Vogel and @hhooo/Lamela-Peters have become crucial members of the team.
    Youth Intake

Only the one stand-out player for us. Funke will join up the 1st team and will provide a promising back up for @YungGaffer/Yashin in case he needs it. Looks pretty good already and will hopefully improve steadily with the odd game here and there.
    Season Overview

Ajax still hold the crown but I’m hoping that we can be the first team to change that. Venlo did brilliantly and managed to take home the Dutch Cup. Man City finally made their dreams come true and secured the Champions League with Barcelona winning the Europa League. Sing of things to come?
That’s everything for Season 1. Great foundation and something we can build on next year. The veterans have all been replaced but you won’t find out who has joined us until the next update. There’s some names you’ll definitely recognise. Let’s just say - the streets won’t forget😄.
Thanks to all who have joined in! Hope you enjoy reading this and any comments are much appreciated. If you want to see you actual player profile then let me know and I’ll post it for you. Hope you have a fantastic weekend and I’ll see you soon, take care!

    @Rich/Davies - Top Goalscorer

Great 1st season for our Welsh marksman! Really settled into the league well and I’m hoping his form continues as we look to challenge the big boys next year.

Can’t wait to see what you can do with the ‘old-boys’! It’ll be a fun competition to see how far we can go😄.

With Authorisation from Vibe FC's Chairman @L_Dotz

Reports say that the disgruntled former players of Vibe FC are looking to regroup in the Netherlands after being sacked from their positions. They will form a new club with the assets of their former club, which was dissolved after they were unable to gain the appropriate licenses. The new club is expected to take FC Eindhoven's place in the Eerste Divisie under the moniker 'AC Vibe Rejects'. Rumours state that their new manager is going to be an unknown from the city of Daejeon.
We interviewed William Fôn Williams, who was tending to a flock of sheep in the nice meadows of Wales.
"The lads have been training at their home countries in order to keep their skills up. Of course they are not going to be the physical gods that they were, but they're working hard."
