Tactics DLM Question

Hi ti you all i never been able to close infront of defence with DLM in 4-2-3-1 tactic i m using short passing always conceding goals in front of box despite all defenders in front of opponent attacker from long range. It drive me crazy and DLM doesn't do any thing any solutions for problem

DLM isn't really a defensive role, he  may break up play but his job is more like Pirlo than Matic. You need a BWM.

Does it depend on the formation the opposition are playing? For example, if they are playing 4-4-2, I have found that playing in the DM slot gets better results as a DLM (shutting down the possible passing lines maybe?) than as a BWM. But if they are playing someone in the AMC slot, that BWM does better. Or  am I mistaken?

It is more the pairings. A BWM is good with a CM or APM which are passing roles.

Then B2B player is good with DLM in midfield positions

I observe that if you put BWM in DM pos then he venture forward and your defence exposed then it must be DLM in DM
