Hello fellow vibers today I will discuss a certain topic that hasn't been paid much attention here and that is the style of playing and the match engines.

What is Style of playing ?

Style of football is the type of strategy ( Gegen Pressing , Counter attacking , etc ) that a team deploys on the pitch . In FMH 15 there are 3 mentalities available at the moment -Attacking , Balanced and Defensive , along them their are 3 passing styles available - Short , Direct and Long . Their are also 3 tackling styles available - Normal, Committed and Cautious . Along them their is a very wide number of formations available along with the ability to set up custom formations . While this seems like a fairly detailed experience , it's really not and the game feels very much random half the time ruining the experience of being a virtual manager.

The OrIgInal match engIne -

'The matches in the original engine feel too random' and 'It feels like the game revolves around luck' , these two lines are 2 of the most cliché lines used by enthusiasts of the FMM franchise while complaining about the matches in the original match engine. While the original engine has been updated several times and is the oldest engine in the game , it doesn't even show the one thing it's supposed to properly - the highlights . This engine provides a very quick and dumbed down experience of the match but it is just too simple to display any real highlight that doesn't involve either a chance on goal or a booking .

So results like you dominating games and creating loads of chances but still not scoring while the AI scores 3 out of 4 times are quite normal and will happen . The engine does not show the style your team is playing and is not capable of delivering a non frustrating and realistic experience that the fans of the franchise have been eagerly waiting for.

The Enhanced Match Engine

Let's discuss the marquee feature of FMH 15 - the enhanced match engine . This engine delivers a much more in depth and complex experience which will highlight how your team plays and what strategy they are using , and unlike the original engine feels a much more complete and strategic experience.

It's all not smooth sailing though , far from it , while the engine delivers the match day feel ,it is too slow and is not used by a very wide audience who do not like the many loading screens that this engine unleashes upon them and due to this , the new engine is generally considered a disappointment . So you will see the dots flash and counterattack or play the ultimate tiki taka way while dominating the opposition , it will be a much slower experience which basically ruins the pick up and play aspect FMM is supposed to be based upon.

The Tactical options

The tactical options in the game are fairly limited but with the announcement of the enhanced tactics feature in FMM 16 , it seems that we are finally going to get a much more desktop like FM experience . Even if the developers can deliver a psp like tactical experience which was fairly detailed while remaining simple at its core , it will be progress in my eyes.

Thanks for bearing with , don't forget to comment if I missed anything and keep an eye out for any future articles by me.
