CHOOSING THE CLUB

I wanted to manage in Holland and decided to be the smallest club from their 2nd Division. SC Telstar fitted the criteria and I was excited to manage them. The Clubs board had asked me to deliver them a safe mid-table season - Could I do it?

STADIUM & FACILITIES

Both Facilities were adequate when I first arrived at the club. I requested improvements to these and they got upgraded to average facilities - slight change. The stadium holds 3,060 Supporters with a current average of 2,000 Supporters.

STAFF,FINANCE & TRAINING

The training regime was delegated to my Gold Badged Assistant Manager Dirk Van Der Lugt. The staffroom has been improved & filled up with the best-in-class coaches that were interested. The finances are secure due to buying mostly under 100k players & selling players who did not fit our philosophy.

SQUAD

The below shows the players in and out for this season. The players out did not fit into the player template we had set ourselves with some players selling for big money. The players in were filtered out most for under 100k with a lot of the players being relatively young.

TACTIC

I used my Control Tiki-Taka tactic for this Career with SC Telstar. The tactic worked very well & was very strong defensively. We did get a lot of draws during the season & need to strengthen the attack going forward.

THE RESULT

My 1st season at SC Telstar and we managed to gain promotion to the Eredivisie. We gained promotion via the playoffs & held the best defence in the league. During the season, we probably had too many draws and attack was a weakness. Earning promotion in my 1st Season at the club in a difficult competitive league is fantastic though and indicates my Philosophy works.
