Career 300 Goal Season Challenge - completed

I've seen a post or two about this challenge.

 

If you know anything about me I do love a crazy challenge, so this one is right up my street.

Have been thinking of a team for a while but haven't quite decided.

A few things to consider here; 

• Need a big team in a lower quality league
• Need plenty of games
• Need a large squad with plenty of quality players
• Need to be able to attract some quality signings to bang in the goals

All these considered I've decided the best outcome would be to go lower league England.

Got plenty of league games.

FA Cup

League Cup

Papa Johns (or whatever its called)

 

So, quality team, League 1 or League 2.

Best chance of winning games.

 

My pick is none other than the sleeping giants of Sunderland.

 

Huge ask, but by my calculations there should be;

• 46 league games (49 if I manage to play it right and get into the playoffs final)
• 8 League Cup games (If we make it to the final)
• 8 FA cup Games (If we make it to the final)
• 8 Papa John Cup Games (If we make it to the final)

Gives us potentially 73 games to play with.

Hopefully the fixture gods are good to us.

 

Sooooo need to be scoring on average 4.1 goals per game to complete this challenge.

 

For this challenge I will be using all unlockables available to me, without editor, obviously!!

 

Will post an update before the season starts to see how the team is looking.

First game of the season coming up.

 

Done surprisingly well in the transfer market.

No idea why half these players would want to come to Sunderland but I ain't complaining!!!

Red card against Bournemouth probably cost me the win.

Trying to offload some squad players to balance the books a bit.

Looks promising from the friendlies but very poor opposition.

Starting to fall off a little.

Drawing city away in the league Cup was probably the worst draw we could have hoped for.

7 goals away to Rotherham has been coming.

Team is starting to gel now.

Would expect more high scoring games to follow 🤞🤞

Still going steady.

Need to start hammering a couple of teams. Going 2-3 up early then not getting many more.

Kiu, some great scores there. And with regards to your point about going up early then not getting anymore goals; glad it's not just me. I reckon 80% of my goals are scored in the 1st half. I could be 7-0 at half time and that's how the match will finish.

Starting to run out of matches. 

Looks like I'll be automatically promoted too so that another 3 matches I'll miss out on.

Wolves at home in the 4th round FA Cup.

The fixture gods ain't playing nice

Yes it's a tough challenge, the AI starts to figure you out and adapt....i hadn't thought about starting in league 1 though, I might give that a go too and see what happens....265 still my best total for a season

Could have done with these results all season.

Still plenty to play for.

Leicester in the FA Cup quarters.

That's still really impressive! It becomes addictive to try and best it 😅 What formation did you use?

One more go at it. Gonna try a different tactic.

Current tactic was an old one from FMM21

Reckon it would have flown in in that version
