Tactics 4-1-2-2-1 high-pressing domination

My own tactic that I've been tweaking for almost 2 seasons resulting in 2018/19 Europa League semi-final (still going) with Polish underdogs - Legia Warsaw.

What it's all about:

I focused on covering every part of the pitch as well as possible and pressing the opponent at all times. This results in many interceptions on the opponent's half followed by quick balls to my (at best) mediocre poacher (good movement, shooting and pace) who scores so many goals his value grew from ~€100k to ~€13M in a year (without significant attribute gain and absolutely no potential according to the coach).  It's tailored for my players, therefore the heavily attack focused left side, creative midfield and defensive, counter-attack focused right side.

Tips:

  • Keep the squad harmony up at all times, if someone is unhappy with their training, put them on a regime with everything light/off for a week or two, until they calm down. If someone wants a new contract, just give them a new contract, it's not worth the trouble to fight for a couple pennies.
  • Rotate the squad for less important matches, so that everyone is always 96%+ fit.
  • Give chances to young players 15-18 even if the coach doesn't give them great potential, because they develop rapidly when they play.
  • Make sure your medical staff is as good as you can get and have at least one prevention and at least one rehabilitation specialist. If you have another slot available - go with another prevention specialist.
  • Make your staff take coaching/scouting/medical exams every time they're available.
  • Keep upgrading training and youth facilities, if you're not managing an extremely poor club and you succeed regularly, the board will most likely agree (even to double back-to-back upgrades)
  • Set your set pieces takers and captain so they're not random players incapable of doing the job
  • Trade your unwanted players with high contracts for young ones from your domestic league (cheaper, more prospective and less likely to be unhappy).

Training regime:

Goalkeepers and strikers have their own regime, the rest uses the general one (I made sure to have a good general training coach and to be one myself). Also make sure to use one regime (for example technical) to have something prepared for unhappy players (everything light/off).

Very close to the statics I use.

My question is how about the possession for your tactics.

I found it is easy to dominate the match, but it is difficult to have more possession.

Usually 48-60%. Every time I play a tactic focused on possession (~70%) in FMM I get "FM'd" every other match (the situation when you have 40 shots, your opponent has 1 and you lose 0-2). This fast, offensive football just works better and I'm getting overwhelmingly good results with Legia.

:SJust wondering why you put the BPD on the left side of CDs, is he a left foot preferred player?

He's great with both feet and has great stats for a BPD (17 Pass, 12 Tech, 16 Dec, 16 Team). He's on the left side because that's where I mostly build my attacks, the right side is just a highway for counters. And all my other CDs are right-footed so I'd rather keep them on the right side.

When I set up my tactics, I always face the problem with left CDs, find them hardly to work well no matter what roles I set them. Get a lot of lose goals on the left side.

Looks awesome. Thank you for the detailed description. Gonna try it out with Bath City in League 1. I've been promoted 3 times in my last three seasons but that's been solely from a playoff place except the first season in Vanarama South where i finished 1st. My tactic however makes me concede over 3 goals a game and i score from 3 to 5 from time to time so a lot of games and in draws and losses. This seems like a good one. Gonna let you know how it goes
