Season Two - Part One 

As we need to have possession of all three required trophies at the same time, only winning the league title last season meant we needed to win the treble this season to conquer Northern Ireland. To try and help achieve this aim, plenty of changes were made to the playing squad.

Transfers In

A goalkeeper, five defenders, three midfielders, four attacking mids/wingers, a striker, plus two attacking players from the youth squad were brought in. 

Transfers Out

Redmond was sold to help increase our budget, while the rest were either not required any more, or were lost players we managed to sell for free. 

Winning the league meant we had earned a place in the Champions League qualifiers, and as mentioned before, these games could now result in player losses. Our first qualifying round opponents were Connah's Quay.

Play-off Round

Despite losing the second leg in the play-off round, we had managed to qualify for the group stage! This came at the cost of one player. 

We would have hoped for an easier group, but we would have to do our best against Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Lyon. 

Group Stage Results 

Almost coming away with all three points in the first game turned out to be the highlight of our group stage campaign, while we'll try to forget the massive defeat to the German giants. 

Finishing bottom of the group with five losses means five players leaving. 

We would need to win the Bet McLean Cup this year or face another season battling for supremacy in Northern Ireland. We joined the competition in round two.

It could have been even worse in the quarter final defeat, but either way we were out after a disastrous performance. 

This game resulted in the loss of one of our goalkeepers. 

Five non required cup competitions were also played,resulting in three wins, getting knocked out of one, and still participating in the other.

We're in a good place heading into the second half of the league campaign, but we paid a price with four lost players. 

As we go into the next part of the season, the players we have lost leave our squad looking like this.

Season Two - Part Two

At the end of the last update, it's safe to say our squad lacked a bit of depth. Thankfully the January transfer window was upon us, and we made some new signings. I forgot to get screenshots of the transfers, so this is the best I've got. 

We had signed another striker as well, but as you could guess, he didn't last long. 

A star player also left, as Barnsley matched Jordan Brown's release clause fee.

Onto the results now, and a competition we were still in that didn't affect player losses was the Mid Ulster Cup.

An eleven goal thriller set us up with a semi final against Cliftonville that we sadly lost. 

The Irish Cup would affect player losses though, and if we could win it along with the league title, we would only need to win the Bet McLean League Cup next season to conquer Northern Ireland.

Threw it away completely in the last few minutes. It'll need to be the treble next season then. This defeat resulted in the loss of a player only signed in January. 

 

All that's left now is the league.

We lost a couple of players thanks to these results, both signed in January, and one only lasting a few weeks. 

The most important thing though is were these losses worth it?

I'd say so! We won the league by a clear 25 points! Obviously results in the other cups make this title win not worth as much though. 

Player and Manager Performance

Overall, a sense of disappointment that we're in the same position as the beginning of the season, needing to win the treble next season. Time to refresh the squad and come back stronger! We'll need to, because as you know... When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die.

Sorry for lack of updates recently, been so busy with work I've not had any time to play ☹️ Should all be settled down by next Tuesday/Wednesday so hopefully get something posted not long after.
