"Some teachers had a dream,

To build a football team,

They had no money, no kit, not even a ball (not even a ball!)

But they carried on...,

And SUNDERLAND was born,

SIX LEAGUE TITLES,

and we're still going strong"

With 6 titles, Sunderland AFC, have officially won the 6th most top division championship's, ahead of the likes of Manchester City, Spurs, Leicester and their arch rivals Newcastle. Even Chelsea are only able to equal this total, despite their success in the last 15 years. Yet in FM2020, they find themselves languishing in League 1, reeling from the disappointment of losing in both the Checkatrade and Play-Off finals. The memories of the "Bank of England" club are cemented in the decent past. No longer are we "going strong". That is until we appoint a new manager... YOU.

Your challenge is to get Sunderland back where they belong, and win their seventh top flight title, and first since 1936.

Seems tough right? Time to make things even harder. In order to return to bigger and better things we need to emulate the success of two Sunderland heroes:

1. Ned Doig. The Scottish goalkeeper won the 1st Division on 4 occasions during his 14 seasons with the Mackems, before finishing his career with Liverpool.

2. Horatio "Raich" Carter. Born in Sunderland, Raich Carter led the Black Cats to their last ever league title and their first ever F.A. Cup. Capped 13 times for England and held in high regard by players such as Stanley Matthew's, his success was disrupted by WW2, where he played football for the RAF. He is still held in high regard Sunderland to this day, with a mural in his honour in Hendon, where he was born, along with a sports centre named after him.

CHALLENGE

Use the same Scottish goalkeeper throughout. (100 points)

Use the same English inside forward (you may choose which side) throughout. (100 points)

If offered a rich new owner comes along whilst in the Premier League, you can accept. We were the Bank of England club after all. No using in-game editor, sugar daddy etc. Post all progress to a career thread. This will take a good few seasons. Good luck to everyone. HAWAY THE LADS.
