Hi mates,

I am trying a 3-5-2 formation in my Spurs save. My question what is the diffrence between Deep Lying Forward (DLF) and Trequartista (T) ?

How will you use these two roles?

T is a playmaker like AP but without defending.

DLF is still a forward but he drops to link with midfield.

I would say T is better if you play with more than 1 striker and no AP in midfield.

DLF can be used if you play with IFs and no AMC.

T will run with the ball more often, and will move more horizontally. DLF will drop to collect the ball and play through other runners. If you're using a lone striker I like T, if it's a pair, DLF/AF works well. They also make a good pair up front (DLF+T)

My experience as well. This was just raised in one of the careers here, so I went back into the archives to find what *used* to work for me.

5 versions ago this worked well. Treq up front with AF and TF. Or Treq in midfield next to AM covered by CM behind. It basically needed 2 "supporting" roles close by. In many cases just 1 wasn't enough.

2023 version not sure tho. Haven't tested yet.
