2015 Premiership Outcasts

There's been a reasonable amount of chat this season about which teams need which players, as ever. But there's rarely a mention of what the players themselves need a transfer, the poor lads.

Here's a look at a couple of players who desperately need to get away from their current clubs, for their own good.

7. Emmanuel Adebayor - Tottenham

Now, Emmanuel Adebayor is actually in a pretty cosy place at the moment. Earning a reported £100k-per-week to sit around at Spurs.

Spurs want him gone. He knows that, you know that, I know that. He's pretty relaxed about the whole situation though, obviously.

Thing is, Adebayor has been a really good striker. He's got a record of 96 goals in 225 Premier League games - that's a pretty top class scoring rate, petulant or not.

Adebayor doesn't need to move for the sake of his bank balance, or for the sake of his career, he'll find a club when his Spurs contract ends next season.

He needs to move for the sake of his reputation. If he leave White Hart Lane this summer, he's got a chance as being remembered for his goals rather than as "that ex-Arsenal guy who sat around on our wage bill for years." His talent deserves more than that.

6. Javier Hernandez - Manchester United

If Javier Hernandez's substitute performance against Club Brugge proved anything, it's that he really needs out of Old Trafford.

A decent set of cameos for Real Madrid last season didn't impress Louis van Gaal, meaning that Adnan Januzaj has been preferred to him as United's secondary attacking option alongside Wayne Rooney at the start of this season.

Against Brugge, he came on and missed a penalty, as well as an absolute sitter from point-blank range. His confidence is absolutely shot, and it's not going to get any better on the bench at Old Trafford.

Where should he go? It probably doesn't matter too much, as long as they play him. Another move to a Madrid-alike wouldn't be good, he needs regular game-time and he needs it fast.

5. Alex Pritchard - Tottenham

Now, I'm not saying here that Pritchard should be looking for a permanent move, but he definitely needs something.

A brilliant full season at Brentford in the Championship last term saw him pick up a dozen goals from his role as an attacking midfielder.

Will he play more than a handful of games, if any, at White Hart Lane this season? Absolutely not. Does he, at 22, need to keep playing regularly so that his progression doesn't stall? Obviously. Is it time to stop asking questions and then immediately answering them in this paragraph? Probably.

Norwich are said to be interested in taking Pritchard on loan and playing him in a striking role which, given his obvious goalscoring prowess, could work brilliantly - and allow him to experience the step up to the Premier League without throwing him straight into a European battle.

4. Michu - Swansea City

Poor, poor Michu. For about a season, his £2m transfer fee was the bargain by which all other signings were measured. Angel di Maria, for example, was 30 Michus. Bad business.

Bojan at Stoke, on the other hand? 0.75 Michus. Smart signing.

It sounds ridiculous (and it absolutely is), but hey. Weird world, and every transfer story needs a new angle at some point.

Michu scored 18 Premier League goals in his first season at Swansea, and then... two in the second. And none last season, playing just five games all season - all of them on loan at Napoli.

Injuries have destroyed his confidence and fitness, and he's been linked with a move back to Spain this summer. Real Betis were said to be interested, but boss Pepe Mel said recently: "Michu? He's still at Swansea and I don't think there's any way around that one."

He's not going to play at Swansea, and one more season on the sidelines could finish him off. Get out, Michu. Go anywhere.

3. Victor Moses - Chelsea

What is the point of Victor Moses at Chelsea? This kid was absolutely golden, tearing it up first in the Championship as a 16-year-old and then impressed with Wigan in the Premier League once he'd earned a move up to the top flight a couple of years later.

Then Chelsea came in, and... well. When someone bursts onto the scene as a 16-year-old, you don't expect them to look completely washed up by 24.

He's spent his last two seasons on loan at Liverpool and Stoke, but started fewer than half of their games. Now he's back at Chelsea at the moment, with their small army of wingers.

West Ham are linked with a loan move, but Moses really needs to get out of Stamford Bridge before he loses his chance to reinvent himself elsewhere.

2. Jonny Evans - Manchester United (Deal now done to WBA)

Poor Jonny Evans. He's carved out an odd little career for himself at Manchester United, having been there for more than a decade without ever making a real impact.

Evans came up through the youth team at Old Trafford, spending a couple of spells out on loan at Sunderland as a youngster, but has just kind of bumbled along at United since, playing a handful of games a year and continually being given new contracts.

He's 27 now though, and it's really time for him to actually do something as a footballer. It doesn't look like there's a new contract coming at United with a year left on his current deal, and he ought to use the little bit of hype that he has to move to a half-decent club now.

That hype's going to disappear over the course of the season. He's basically the club's seventh choice centre-back for goodness sake, it's going to be an even more lean year than usual. Do it for yourself, Jonny.

1. Andros Townsend

This might not be the most obvious, and there haven't really been any strong links connecting Townsend to a move away from White Hart Lane this summer.

However, his time at Spurs is running out and, for a player whose pace is a big part of his game, time is pretty important.

"But he equalled his highest league goal tally last season!" Counter-offer: That was still only two goals, and he only started ten Premier League games all season. He's clearly not one of Mauricio Pochettino's favourites, and he's only going to fall further out of favour.

He's still around the fringes of the England squad at the moment - if he doesn't go and get some first-team football on the regular, that's going to disappear too.

Thank you for reading, let me know your thoughts on any plays you think should leave their clubs below!
