Career A little bit of S ‘N’ M. Lagom retakes the Last Dance

So, I mentioned in my post detailing my last effort that I wasn’t happy with my score and I felt that there was the potential for better, and hopefully this is it.

I will be retaking the excellent challenge as posted below:

The goal is simple, re- sign Suarez and Neymar for Barcelona, pair them up with Messi to reform the MSN trio, and score & assist as much as you possibly can across a single season. So that’s what I did.

Sub 200m for both players without having to exchange was a great bit of business if I do say so myself. In addition to them, I brought in Fabian to boost the midfield, Inigo Martinez to partner Pique in defence, and Azpilicueta to provide cover all across the back line. Olio is a January signing who hasn’t yet played for me.

Not that it matters in a single season challenge, but I brought in enough money to leave my net spend at just 9.75m, which isn’t bad. I’d have loved to keep Coutinho, but decided against it in the end. Dembele was a no brainier, I’ve never got on with him in any save, and Umititi is almost almost transferred first season, and when I keep tabs on him, his progress is awful, so I cut my losses.

I thought the halfway point would be a nice place to update, and it’s really nice to look at. I don’t recall ever going a half season without dropping any points, so this is really pleasing, though I’m still not entirely happy with the goal scoring numbers, with the players at my disposal, I’d hope to be hitting more than this.

So a halfway total of 74, which is nice, but will leave me around the same total as last time, if not less, should the current rate of scoring see me through. Maybe a little tweaking to be done in order to push my score

Nice start mate, From my experience the second half of the season almost always sees improvements over the first, so I think you'll be on course for a better score than before

Nice start, agree with @Aaron Thornton that they second half of the season is often better, so hopefully more to come. Interesting tactic by the way, I love seeing how different people approach this!

Well guys, I made it to the end of the dance.

Wrapped the league up nice and early:

Missed out on the perfect season in the league by two games, disappointing 1-1 draws where the SNM didn’t register as much as a sniff. The same goes for the UCL, where Man City absolutely stifled us across 180 minutes in the QFs, essentially killing off 5 (potential) games for us.

On a personal note, I won MOTM every month bar 2, and somehow still didn’t win MOTY, losing out to Michel of Huesca.

Onto the players, and whether they were able to help me beat my previous effort of 149.

Suarez was far and away the top scorer in the league, and beat Messi to earn POTY, but unfortunately we could only muster up 142 goal contributions. An overall lacklustre performance from Neymar, added to Suarez outright refusing to assist anyone left us slightly short of my previous effort, and far shy of where I wanted to be. I think I’ll shelve this challenge for a while now, as I have my badge, and maybe focus on badge 1

Great effort that mate, Neymar can be a very frustrating figure, he done alright on mine but still missed a lot of chances!

Oh wait, in the badge series you can only have 1 entry, sorry, so I'm deleting that score... 

I was thinking of my Chelsea Wonderkids one where you can have more than one entry.
