Season 19

For nineteen seasons now we've been following in the tyre tracks of Sir Bradley Wiggins: kicking off our stabilisers in Belgium, road racing in Manchester, pushing through Germany, securing the yellow jersey in France, and approaching the finish line in London.

It's been an arduous uphill climb to the peak of English football, but we're close to being King of the Mountain. All we need now is to win the league and EFL cup double to emulate the cycling legend's career.

Get ready for a rollercoaster season (so much for the cycling metaphors!)

The Cups

First things first, let's get a few of the cups we've already won before out of the way.

Comprehensive victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield was a good sign, whilst we managed to eventually beat Man City in the FA Cup final after an epic penalty shootout.

That won't be the last you'll hear of City…

The EFL Cup is the one we wanted though. Again, it took extra time and penalties, but we managed to hold on and win.

Thankfully my keeper seems to be a bit of a penalty saving expert!

The League

So, with the EFL Cup secured, we were nearly there.

A great start to the season meant we were top and clear by the new year. However, the squad harmony was deeply damaged as I sold my best player to Monaco and a top right back to Liverpool. I pocketed £90m from the two transfers but it clearly weakened the team and caused plenty of players to express their unhappiness. Don't ask me why i did it. It was stupid!

The wheels started to come off and defeat against City followed by a run of four successive draws meant that we entered the final game of the season level on points with the Citizens.

Despite taking the lead in the eighth minute, Tottenham equalised in the second half, and my stomach did somersaults. I could feel the title slipping away.

Nervously, I glanced at the latest scores to see how City were getting on. Away at lowly Wolves, they were bound to be winning that one.

But no! They were falling to a 4-2 defeat! That meant that a point against Spurs was enough, and we held on.

And Finally…

To finish it with a domestic clean sweep with Leyton Orient feels like the perfect way to sign off, especially given how it came to the last day of the season and penalty shootouts in both cups.

And that is that. The Bradley Wiggins Challenge has been completed.

Well, actually, that's not exactly that. Because, at the start of the season, I was offered the Italy job.

Sensing that the end was nearing but wanting to bow out on the biggest stage possible, I took it.

Despite a tough group, we finished above France and Holland to qualify for the European International League Final.

And we managed to go all the way, beating Germany in the grand final.

Now that's how I wanted to finish this career!

Thanks for all the comments and support guys. I'll be back with a new career soon.
