So after I gave up after half a season of my last challenge, I decided I'd do shorter 1 season based challenges.

After much deliberating I decided to go with FMM Goes to the Movies! by@Thepremiermanager

The Challenge

Play as one of the New York families - NY Red Bulls or NYCFC.

Sign your Don Vito. Must be an Italian midfielder/forward over 30.

Sign your future Don, Michael. Must be an Italian striker but under 23.

How much of the US can you 'control'? You must win territory battles against other families.
To do this you must have a better head-to-head record against any given team over the course of the league season. This does include any post-season playoffs and the MLS final, but not regular cup matches.

The MLS is split into 2 conferences, Eastern (11 families + your NY family) and Western (12 families).

To control the Western territories you must win the 1 battle you have against each family. (If you reach the post-season MLS Cup final, you will battle one of these families a 2nd time. You must have a better head-to-head record to control their territory)

To control the Eastern territories you must have a better head-to-head record in the 2 battles you have against each family. (If you reach the post-season playoffs you may battle some of these families a 3rd time. Head-to-head rules still apply)

Points = +10 for every territory controlled at the end of the season. - 10 points for every territory controlled by another family.
Drawn territories = 0.

Bonus points: Michael goals scored + Don Vito assists.

Firstly let me introduce you to my 'Santiago'. Arriving from Sevilla for 7.75m...

Back for a second spell in England and hoping he's going to fire me into Europe to complete the challenge. 

Preferably looking for a target man to play 'Gavin' and short on cash after making improvements throughout the squad to fit my tactic, we had to settle for a player already at the club. 

That man is Andy Carroll! Fitting the target man role perfectly and will hopefully link well with 'Santiago' as a poacher. 

So those are my main characters in there lead roles for the season. I also brought in Axel Witsel and Roberto Gagliardini to patrol and boss the centre of midfield for me.

With 2 wins in pre-season, I'll provide a mid season update in January where we'll hopefully be on track and you never know may even be in a title race!

Well after a great start to the season including beating Chelsea and Arsenal in our first few fixtures, we capitulated in December picking up 8/21 points. With a little bit of recovery in January we've tailed off again and find ourselves mid table 4 points of 6/7th place. 

Well within reach of European qualification, we need to put some sort of consistency together for the push and final run in. 

Both 'Gavin' and 'Santiago' have not hit the heights hoped with them only scoring 3 and 13 goals respectively.

Well we have gracefully failed attempt 1. After failing for most of the season to find a tactic with the St's I had to give up and revert to my trusty 41221 meaning we only lost to the top 4 in our last 13 games but ultimately it wasn't enough. 

Disappointing returns from Carroll, however, Chicarito started to shine with the change in formation but still didn't perform as well as hoped. 

Going to give this a go again with an AMC and see what options I have!

Good effort mate. The challenge is definitely harder than it seems. 

I think a one-up front and some sort of support striker / attacking midfielder is the way to go. 

Hope you have another go and I can put you on the leaderboard.

Right here goes attempt number 2...introducing 'Gavin' 

Playing as the lone striker with 'Santiago' in behind him, he will hopefully provide us with a bag load of goals! Then seeing as we failed with the 2 striker formation so badly last time 'Santiago' will be... 

The talented Carlos Vela. With excellent technical stats as well as creativity/movement/pace, he will be playing as an AP in AMC, supporting 'Gavin' and hopefully chipping in with a few goals! 

With a decent pre-season under our belt, we look to the season playing a 4231.

With January come and gone we're 10 points off the Champions League places so it's still possible. We've played some brilliant football with the majority of possession in all of our matches. A few defensive lapses losing us leads but if we can start beating the top 6 we can hopefully put a strong run in.

Wilson is having a tremendous season and Vela has been a creative genius so far. Hopefully both can carry us to Europe!

Well the season ends in disappointing fashion in the sense that we failed the challenge however I can't help but feel the season was a success. 

Finishing 7th we secured Europa League for next season and it really went down to the wire. I asked for a decent run in to the end of the season i got it only losing the last game 1-0 to Man Utd. 

We also managed 3 players in the TOTY 

'Gavin' collected top GS and English Players POTY

He also netted 31 times in 44 games, chipping in with 13 assists with an AVR of 7.50

Whilst Vela wasn't quite as prolific in the goals department only scoring 9 goals, he set up 13 goals and had an AVR of 7.22

I need to decide whether I try again, with the tactic as good as perfected, I just need the players again with a big shout out to Rafa who netted 17 with 10 assists and Ghoulam who had 18 assists which was the highest in the league.

Well first movie completed and despite this I still feel a sense of disappointment! 

Top of the league most of the season, we dropped 6 points in our last 3 games meaning both Liverpool and Man City pipped us! 

Another smashing season from 'Gavin' netting 33 goals (2 more than the last attempt) and hitting a higher AVR. 

'Santiago' was moved to right IF this time to try and get him more goals. 

As you can see he did netting 6 more than the last attempt with 2 fewer assists but a superior AVR. He was also included in the Players TOTY, voted footballer of the year and also won the North American Nations League Golden Boot. 

Delighted to have finally completed this challenge after 3 attempts and I'm ready to moved into movie number 2...the sequel!

Well well well...in our first attempt at Goal 2 we absolutely smashed it.

Firstly cast in the role of 'Gavin'... 

then 'Santiago'...

With a superstar squad already, I decided to have a bash at a 2 striker formation again. With Bale and Hazard in the squad, I knew I had to either sell up and find 2 wingers in a traditional 442 or play with IF's meaning I'd have to devise a tactic and this is what happened 🙈 

As you can see, a busy transfer window saw alot of wheeling and dealing 

With alot of cash needing freed up, big names like Benzema, Isco, Kroos and all of my WB/FB's were shown the door bringing in the funds to buy the best I could and backup/rotation players were loaned/bought in January to help bolster the squad for the challenges on all fronts! 

As January came round we had only lost 1 game in the league and were in our first final of the season in the Supercopa

Convincingly dispatching Athletic Madrid who caused us no problems all season! Both 'Gavin' and 'Santiago' getting on the scoresheet... 

Still sitting 1st come April we had only lost 1 more game away to Barcelona, who along with Sevilla were our competition and sat only a few points behind. Next was the Copa Del Rey Final where we faced Valencia who had beaten us in the league back in January so we expected a tough game. However we were currently on a 19 game unbeaten streak

This tight affair saw the streak continue through 20 and the second trophy of the season settled by a single Raul Jimenez goal despite dominating the match. 

As May came around we were still on an unbeaten run and were able to wrap the league up with a few games to play

As we beat Zenit St Petersburg 3-1agg in the Semi-final of the Champions League to complete the challenge, the final saw us face off against middle east powerhouses PSG...

And like a fairytale ending the scoring was opened and closed by 'Gavin' with a 'Santiago' goal in between! 

An astounding season from 'Gavin' saw him net 41 goals and 22 assists in all competitions

A far less impressive record for our Mexican star 'Santiago' who only managed 17 goals and 9 assists in all competitions.

However if you look closer at the stats you see how much of a big game player he was, getting an AVR of 8.20 in cup matches and 7.36 in Continental on a similar level to 'Gavin' where he popped up with important goals! 

To wrap it all up I bagged Manager of the Year not surprisingly as we picked up every trophy available to us. 

Despite 'Gavin's' goal haul it was only enough for him to grab finishing second in the Top Goalscorer which was won by our best player of the season Gareth Bale. 

Bale topped the charts and POTY bagging 32 goals in the league and 42 in all competitions, 20 assists in just 48 matches.

Only 3 losses all season, a whopping 168 goals scored and 3 trophies won (including the UCL) makes a whopping 108 points scored from challenge Movie number 2!

Thoroughly enjoyed playing this movie and was incredibly surprised with how well the tactic just seemed to click and fall into place. Will definitely have to test it with a weaker team to see results.

Off the back of that astounding season with Real Madrid, I have decided to try the more challenging part of The Italian Job Challenge and take the managers job at Torino. 

My Red, White & Blue Mini Coopers are... 

Firstly my Blue Mini, arriving from Rangers for a fee of 19.5m, the ex-Liverpool man Ryan Kent. He will play FL as an inside forward and the tricky, pacey dribbler will be hoping to rack up the goals and assists as well as improve nicely. 

Next my Red Mini, arriving from Nottingham Forrest for 10.25m is Joe Lolley. I don't know much about him however with decent stats and already improving, along with Kent I'll be expecting plenty of assists and a few goals from the FR position playing as an IF. 

Finally my White Mini, spearheading my attack and arriving from Leeds for 12.75m is Patrick Bamford. The all round forward will be playing the Trequartista role and with 6 goals already to his name in 3 games, big things are expected!

Well we have made it through the qualifiers, fairly solid defensively and we have started well in the league

The groups have been drawn...

Providing us a tough group but we're hopeful of progressing!

After the UEL group stages, we progressed top of the group with 5 wins and 1 draw scoring 10 and keeping 6 clean sheets! 

In the first knockout round we have been given a tough draw against Borussia Monchengladbach who finished 2nd IN the morning group behind PSV Eindhoven. 

In the league we sit 3rd 2 points behind Napoli in 1st and behind Roma on GD. Having only lost 2 games in all competitions, 1-0 and 2-0 to Juventus and AC Milan respectively, we have had a great season so far!

We've managed to navigate the first knockout round of the UEL beating Monchengladbach 3-0agg with all goals coming in an hour away leg win. 

Second knockout round draw has been less kind to us with a tough draw against Arsenal.

We're currently 2nd in the league, 9 points behind Napoli and still on an unbeaten run in the league. Our only defeat since my last update has come in the form of a 2-0 loss to Juventus in the home leg of the Italian Cup semi-final.

After an enthralling battle in the first leg where Ryan Kent popped up with the only goal of the game, snatching an away goal and a 1-0 win giving us a we slight advantage going into the 2nd leg back at the Emirates. Bamford unfortunately suffered an injury in the match ruling him out for a month. 

In the second leg we were up against it for about 80 minutes, Sirigu keeping us in it and the Arsenal attack squandering a number of chances! Then out of nowhere Lolley bags a brace from the spot to seal our spot in the Quarter Final of the UEL against CSKA Moscow.

With a 1-0 win in both legs we dispatch CSKA in a professional manner. Next up in the UEL Semi-final is another tough tie, an all Italian affair and team we have only drew with this season...Roma. However confidence was high and still having only lost 3 games all season we knew we could get a result! 

After a perfect 4-0 home win to almost already seal a final place we repeated the performance in the away leg winning 3-0.

Setting up an UEL Final against Portuguese giants Porto. 

But just like those before them they fell to the mighty Torino. Tied at 0-0 with 80 minutes on the clock I decided to alter the tactic and go for it to avoid the risk of extra time & penalties. With 2 minutes left on the clock, in another fitting moment, Patrick Bamford with his 40th goal of the season sealed the trophy for the team from Turin! 

The trophy rounded off a brilliant season finishing 2nd in the league, 2 losses and only conceding 17 goals. Disappointing to draw so many as only a few more W's would have won as the league and bagged us another £35k.

In Europe we were flawless, not losing a single game and only conceding 2 goals amassing an impressive 19 clean sheets and 2 goals conceded! 

Now to see how much goal-D we have managed to get away with. Our red Mini Kent had a decent season albeit nothing special netting 12 goals and 11 assists. This nets us £60,000.

Next up is our blue Mini Lolley. Again another underwhelming season however he still chipped in with 7 goals and 12 assists and actually got a higher AVR than Kent despite playing 4 more games. He banks us £35,000.

Saving the best till last is our white Mini, Patrick Bamford. This legend smashed in 40 goals in all competitions in 54 games bringing home the UEL and banking us £200,000!

With the £50,000 from the UEL we have managed to steal a grand total of £345,000 from our Italian Job!

It feels like a very impressive score and I'm delighted to have netted back to back challenges in 1 attempt!
