Career Nucleus goes strikerless - a one season challenge

Hey guys, I’ve seen this challenge have a lot of love over the past couple of months here on Vibe and I’m ashamed to say I haven’t tried this awesome little challenge created by our resident Fox @FuddledFox

The Team

Ive decided to go somewhere familiar for this challenge, purely to give me the best chance of obtaining a half decent score to put on the board, I’ve spent the past 17 odd seasons at this club so one more wont do no harm..

Thats right, I’m headed back to Paris for one more season of football management. Now what to do with all that oily money....

The Players

First up is the ginger ninja, KDB. He has some amazing attributes and I for one am really looking forward to using him for the first time this year.

Secondly we have Hazard, again another player I’ve not used this year so I’m hoping his attributes reflect in-game.

Finally we have a player I have used a couple times this year. Marco Asensio, he ain’t let me down in any career so far, let’s hope he can keep that up.

The Tactic

I’ve gone for this tasty little formation. It’s got nice little passing triangles along the field to maximise possession, with wingbacks bombing up and down the flanks to supply those inside forwards when cutting in. The DLP will act as a third CB when called upon, with the CM’s just there to rotate play.

We drop our first league points of the season! Angers sneaking a 3-2 win, and Strasbourg holding out for a 1-1 draw.

Eden Hazard

A goal a game with 10 assists thrown in top is quality stuff! I’ve been super impressed with Hazard so far on the left hand side of our trio. 35 points from him so far.

Kevin de Bruyne

Nesrly a goal a game, but 15 assists thrown on top is the cherry on the cake. 37 points so far from our Trequartista at the half way stage.

We’re into the business end of things now. Some good squad management is needed to conserve fitness so I can maximise game time for our strikerless trio.

That’s exactly my thought. Not bad. I was hoping for much better from the three if I’m honest.

Im in March and I’ve only just realised that I had other players on corner duties! Valuable points lost

March, April & May - The Final Update

So after the realisation that neither of my strikerless trio were on corner duties, I swiftly corrected that mistake and cracked on with the rest of the season. So how did the lads get on?

League

A comfortable league victory gives us a huge 187 points to start things off.

Champions League Knockout Stages

We somehow scrape this second leg against a more dominant Dortmund side.

We do what our real life counterparts couldn’t do in the quarters against Madrid, a cracking 4-1 aggregate win.

A scintillating substitute performance by Javier Pastore in the second leg against Liverpool sends us through to the final....

Where fittingly we win 3-0, with all three of our strikerless trio on the scoresheet. The beautiful game!

Really happy with this guy, made the left flank his own with a whopping 53 appearances! 40 goals and 18 assists gives him 58 points to add to the total

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. 69 massive points from KDB. Oh what could have been had he been on corner duties all season with that tasty 18 in crossing.

Oh what could have been! To be honest, I’m happy with how this went. I’ve never played with no strikers before in any FM game, so it was a nice change to do just that. Thanks to @FuddledFox for creating such an original challenge for us all to compete with here on Vibe. Could you please add me onto the EME leaderboard Foxy?
