Career (Complete) Vikings Invade France AGAIN (A 1KC Journey)

Hello and welcome to my latest career thread, (I'm really enjoying myself with these challenges) this time around I will be attempting a 1kc with a player who is not on the leader board for 1kc's which I found strange as he is top drawer and well deserving of a challenge like this. Without further ado:

 

Starting Settings:

 

The Team:

I couldn't make my mind up on who to choose for this attempt, so I left it to a randomiser app on the internet, I put all 8 teams into it and the first team to get three picks was the team I decided on. 

The team options are below:

Chelsea, Liverpool, Juve, Atl. Madrid, B Munich, B Dortmund, B Leverkusen, PSG. 

 

After the app done its thing, it brought out:

PSG! So we're heading to Paris for this challenge.

The Tactic:

This is very likely to be tweaked along the way, but for now it will do.

 

The(Viking)Player:

The hottest prospect in world football right now debatedly, Erling Haaland is already a fantastic player and has potential to be the greatest forward ever known. He will be joining the day the transfer window opens for £25 million plus Presnel Kimpembe. As I said above I'm very surprised this animal is not already on the 1KC leaderboard, so here's hoping we can get him to where he belongs. 

 

My first challenge featured 3 players and my second challenge featured 2 players, so it made sense (at least to me) to go for a 1 player challenge, can't wait to get started. Seeyas at the end of Season 1.

Good luck. As you said, it’s weird him not being on the leaderboard. He almost feels a lot older than 18, which may be why folk skip him.

@Rob Think your probably spot on in that reasoning, he always seems to go under the radar on Vibe, but in-game he scores bucket loads for the CPU

Season 1:

Hello and welcome to my first season. As you know the aim is 1000 goals with Erling Haaland, already a fantastic player and potential to be the best there ever was, heres how he done. 

 

Competitions:

• Clear winners of Ligue 1, only 75 goals though
• Tight Coupe De France win, 2-1 V Nantes
• Disappointing early exit to Spurs, dominated both legs but couldn't convert shots to goals
• Lost Trophee des Champions to Stade Rennais, they became a bit of a bogey club for us
• Lost Coupe De la Ligue to Lyon in a tight affair

As to be expected a squad rebuild in Season 1, kept it interesting for myself by trying to go for players I don't usually sign, but some I have to go for, Wijndal, Dilrosun and Berge are favourites of myne.

With a lot of ins, there was a lot of outs, some players sold for pennies, but we don't need to worry about money at, as Scratch would say 'P$G'. Can't stand Neymar IRL, so was happy to get big bucks for him from Barcelona

Next to no growth in his first year with us, but his stamina went up by one which is handy.

54 goals in 42 games, he didn't set the world alight, but for his first year at the club he's done very well, with everyone at the club having a year of experience, we'll be looking to kick on next season.

Like everyone else said, surprising that no one has used him this year. I was going to say a lot of people used him in 19, but I just checked and he wasn't on the leaderboard there or for 18. Maybe this is the first ever Haaland 1KC, which is crazy. Definitely a lot of people were using him a year or so ago, I guess just not for a 1KC. 

54 goals in the first season is a good start. A bit strange he didn't improve more though. You've got the training facilities top notch? And Gold Natural coaches? Because scoring that much should lead to a lot of development. I guess maybe because he's so well known and his attributes start off pretty good that his CA is already high and maybe there isn't that much development in him? Not sure. He should be good enough for a 1KC regardless though.

 @Scratch My facilities were one off top level (got them fully upgraded in Season 2) and he grew a lot more in Season 2, coaches are all top level, so the facilities probably hindered him slightly, not too sure but that seems to be the reason. On another note my problem I can't stop fiddling with the tactic😂 I tell myself to stop changing it and I still do, eventually I'll learn🤷‍♂️

Season 2:

After a good but not great start to Erling's PSG career we needed him to smash them in this season, how did he do:

• 22 points clear of Lyon to take Ligue 1, scoring 11 more goals than last year
• Lyon take advantage of some early season rustiness to win the TdC, 2-1
• We take the CL, beating Roma 3-1 AET thanks to a brace from our main man
• Completely one-sided CdF win, only 2-0, but Lyon failed to have a single shot on target

Just one signing this year as I like to give the players at least two years to prove themselves, Weghorst signed to mentor Haaland's Aerial ability, (they're attributes were pretty much identical apart from Pace)

Outgoings were all players that were either out on loan or I didn't receive bids for them in Season 1

A lot more growth this year, +1 to Pace, Aerial, Shooting, Decisions, Stamina and Strength

51 goals in 45 games. Well my constant 'tactic tampering' didn't have the effect I hoped for, but it has improved my knowledge on what works and what doesn't, not quite there yet with the tactic, but trial and error makes it a very enjoyable challenge.

Season 3:

With Season 2 seeing a slight drop in goals for Erling, we needed him to dazzle defenders and kill keepers (not literally, or he'd never get to play again, I'd imagine) With that said let's get into Season 3

• Ligue 1 wrapped up comfortably, I remember we were at least 20 points ahead of Lyon
• UEFA Super Cup victory 2-1, with Haaland grabbing both
• Complete domination in the Coupe de France, 5-0 against a very weak Marseille side, just 3 seasons in and Marseille are finishing in the bottom half of the table
• The Trophee des Champions gave the country of France the best match they've seen in a while, neither team felt like defending, so 5-5 AET, and Lyon take it 5-4 in a shootout

As I begin to mould two teams for rotation, we needed reinforcements in a few positions, Saka, Lirola and Traore are the marquee signings coming in, the rest will help the team as backup

Was happy to let these all go, some like Verrati and Di Maria were on the decline, the rest were just not gonna be good enough

 

Erling Haaland:

An injury with 3 weeks to go till the end of the season knocked a few attributes off Erling, but hes still just 21 yrs old and plenty of time to get back to and better than where he was before

78 goals in 44 games! Much more like it Erling, he keeps this up, we'll be laughing. As you can see from his goals in all the competitions, he dominated everyone. I wish Norway was manageable, with Odegaard, Ajer, Berge and of course Haaland, what a spine that would be

So that concludes Season 3 and Haaland was phenomenal, with Erling as well as the team getting stronger year on year, we'll be expecting him to exceed these numbers next year, here's hoping, seeyas on Season 4.

Season 4:

Haaland smashed it last season hitting the back of the net 78 times, now we need him and the rest of the squad to push it up a gear or two to hit those magical numbers, this is how we got on.

• As to be expected by now we take Ligue 1 comfortably, Lyon were very poor
• 6-1 win V Montpellier in the CdF (messed up here, by putting the wrong team out, Haaland missed out and considering our backup striker Guirassy banged 4, Haaland surely would've had a feel day
• Beat Lyon 2-1 in the TdC

No meaningful attribute increases again, maybe Haaland has some sort of hidden late bloomer attribute (not specifically that name but something along those lines)

56 goals in 39 games, the infamous Qatar World Cup year, really affecting fitness, leading to Haaland being rested every other game pretty much, he didn't hit the heights of last season, nonetheless I'm happy enough with these totals.

A decent enough season for Haaland, next year should be better with a far less congested fixture list and hopefully Haaland's attributes can start developing. Seeyas on Season 5.

With last season seeing a 22 goal dip compared to the previous season, we needed to bounce back strongly this year, this is how we done:

Just a youth player promotion to speak of for incomings and he was released straight away

Weghorst left after a few years as backup to Erling, I had high hopes for Samuel Kalu, but it wasn't meant to be, injuries and subsequent poor performances led to him running his contract down and leaving for nothing

 

Erling Haaland:

Do I see green arrows for attribute growth?!?! Thank the lord only took 5 years 😂😡 (+1 to Passing, Shooting, Creativity, Decisions, Movement, Teamwork and Stamina. Dribbling got a +2.

71 goals in 52 games, get in Erling, he's back into the 70's, he needs to stay here if we want to be successful and with the greens starting to show, I'm very optimistic for for the future.

Almost a third of the way to the 1k after 5 seasons, so Haaland is gonna be 33/34 yrs old by the time we complete this, should he keep around 1.40 goals per game throughout the career. That does it for season 5, thanks for reading and any comments are welcome,  be back with Season 6 soon...

Wow, that's a lot of updates! 😄

Glad he's finally looking like a full on legend. I guess he's just slow to develop. Actually I think that's been more the way it happens for the last few versions, for players with high PA. Once they get to reasonably high CA (which I guess he has to start with now) then the last few updates are pretty slow. And yeah I was still getting updates for Pellegri and Esposito after 5 years - but they started with a lot lower CA than Haaland does, so they had a period where they had quite a few updates and quite often, then slowed down once they got more established. 

Anyway, great work, from now on I reckon he'll be 80+ goals per year.

Season 6:

With Erling hitting 71 last season, and developing into a world class forward, we looked to this year with a great amount of optimism at the prospect of him breaking his own record of 78 goals set in Season 3, let's see how he done:

All but one trophy this year, Marseille pip us to the TdC, on a more positive note, Haaland scored in every final.

This spending spree was a message of intent from us to the rest of Europe, we are here to dominate. Zaniolo, Sancho and Felix come in as the big money signings, Onana and Todibo for free, I'd be stupid not to.

Faitout was originally loaned to Saint-Etienne, come the end of the season he was way off the ability of my 1st and 2nd choice Left Back. Saka and Reinier go out on loan for game time. 

 

Erling Haaland:

No growth to any meaningful attributes, but he still does have development left in him, he just grows at a very slow rate now, which is understandable.

Well that's annoying, 67 goals in 42 games, he played 10 less games and scored 4 less than last season, so he did have a better season on the whole, (the Av R and his GPG) were much higher than last season, but we need more.

A 0.03 increase in his Goals Per Game this season is a nice development in an otherwise frustrating season, Haaland struggled for fitness this season and had a few niggling injuries, with a bit more luck next season and an even stronger team around him, we'll hopefully be looking at a strong season all round, thanks for reading and seeyas on Season 7.

All but one trophy again this season, Rashford was very clinical in the UEFA Super Cup. We won two Cups thanks to a single own goal 😂

Ryan James I'm pretty sure is Gareth Bales regen, and he is top quality, Gedson and Ibrahim are the only real players we sgin this season, but both will do a stellar job I hope.

A lot of outgoings this year, squad needed a freshening up

 

Erling Haaland:

No growth again this year, but eventually he will improve.
