37 goals is a good number and as you said, if you can get few other good players around he can go big. There are around 130-140 to Truro so I think is worth it to stick around and not move.

Thanks @George Traistă- yeah, 37's good on a season i didn't like much, and I've got every other team promoted at least twice, i think, so i owe the people of WsM a little something...

And they backed me!! 😮

Alas it was a bit tricky - i didn't spend much but once you get to a certain point, they're not interested or they want crazy money. 

I was happy with the squad i assembled, but we started horribly - only 3 wins from the first 12, i think! That was very frustrating as i was just doing the same as what was successful previously in Scots League Two - so it's not as if the low standard should be a problem. Maybe there were some squad dynamic issues...

We turned it around, a bit, with 1 defeat in 11 taking us back to contention:

Killer has had a rough season too, but this flurry before Christmas took us to 18 this season, or 55 goal-miles overall. 

Best game has to be this heroic win with 9 men:

We had our moments:

7 goals for Ben in two games against poor Chelmsford!

But we couldn't catch Dagenham...

And Lord knows what happened to us in the playoff final:

The game did decide to injure two of my starting XI in the last couple of weeks of the season, but that's no excuse, we should have had more than enough quality

So we're 6 miles shy of torquay, but exeter is within reach and is not much further from Plymouth/Truro than Torquay so... I'm keeping an eye out now, sick of Weston! But who knows, maybe this will be the year...

They did excellent so be sure that Truro is set to be your destination point. Exeter job would be fantastic as you only lose 10 miles or so

I have limited options for other clubs now, and none of them were available, so i had to plough on... it's not how i usually play but with my ridiculously big budget, i had the luxury of stacking the squad with 5-star talent... probably should have done that last season!

This season started ominously with an embarrassing display:

But we soon got rolling:

Benny got 7 in 2 games against Chelmsford last season, and clearly he loves playing against them! 

So at the halfway stage, I'm still unbeaten...

...we're not super-dominant, bit patchy still, but that defence is looking fearsome. And excitingly, Benny is now just seven miles from Plymouth itself... i can almost taste it...

Just 7 miles? I bet he will get you just few miles from Truro until the end of the season, or maybe with a bit of luck you will get it there

Yep indeed - it's another 47 miles from Plymouth to Truro, but it certainly looks good. The challenge is to play one season there at the end, which is reliant on the job becoming available - that might be the tricky part!

Yep, I know! But it can be really funny, with you waiting for the job to be available but they go to 7th tier 🤣

We won the title of course, finally, not really an achievement considering our budget...

A 33-match unbeaten run to start the season was enough for us to hold on, despite finishing 5-4-4 (19pts) from the last 13 games.

Favourite game of the second half of the season:

During a "great" run of playing 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th consecutively, we won at 4th-placed Salibsury with an early goal from Killer, despite an early red card for his strike partner (on loan from Brentford ). We held on but they scored a late equaliser... but it was disallowed! And then a penalty, and the keeper saved it! Scenes! 

Killer finished with 34 for the season:

105 overall, so Plymouth is within reach now. Only 35 more to get to Truro, so we'll have to see how Benny gets on!

No, Bath got it, the sods (don't think I've beaten them yet!). I'll keep an eye on Truro's status... i hope that a more southerly place doesn't pop up either!!

Btw my budget for the VNL is £8m plus a wage budget currently 6x more than I'm spending. Crazy. I didn't ask for Sugar Daddy but i guess it follows you... bit of a shame really...

I mentioned last time that Bath never let me win, and sure enough...

Fortunately Ben has started well, so Plymouth would really be a backward step now - it's all about Truro. So Ben needs to get 35 goals this season (after back-to-back 34-goal seasons!)

Games like this will help:

He's got better at penalties, but it was inevitable that he'd miss one of the three we were awarded in the first half. This was straight after a 2-1 away win with two penalties, both scored by our captain and centre-back while Ben was rested. Operation "Run into the box and fall over" was proving to be a great success. 

So as of RIGHT NOW, Ben has 13 from 10, and we are 22 miles from praying for the Truro manager's demise...

The greatest stroke of luck in "Goal a Mile" history? 

Nah - it's offside, we'll play to where their ground is in the game... So, here's hoping we get 22 more this season (remember, the final part of the challenge is to play a full season at the destination club!)

Halfway stage:

i know it doesn't look bad but frankly it was much better, i was top for a while, but only two wins and 9pts from last 7 games have slowed me down

Not helped by this:

Gonna be a tall order now to get the other 18 goals needed to be able to reach Truro by the end of this season...

Oh, too bad! Maybe give him a real wage and he will feel better and recover quicker 😂

Be sure you still got this, the only unknown here is when Truro will sack their manager and hopefully you got the miles by then. Keep up!

I flashed some cash in January, spending a ridiculous amount for a VNL club on a young uruguayan hotshot (Suarez's regen's regen?!)

So then of course this happened:

Not to worry - brought this kid back from loan:

And he done alright:

Not bad for £50 a week

We finished 3rd...

Aldershot nabbed top spot after an epic blow-up from Nuneaton, who lost 4 of their last 5 and finished the job by losing at home to Telford in the playoffs...

The Final was tense, but of course....

Ben contributed, as you can see - comfortably sealing the division's top scorer award:

He had 30 overall, and added two more in winning the FA Trophy:

Leaving us THREE miles short of Truro (who got promoted from the VNS to the VNL, winning the playoffs on penalties after a 4-4 draw!)

So... we'll see how that goes next season
