Career Dai's SHIELD OF JUSTICE Quests. (Q1)

To make things easier for myself (and anyone interested in following my quests 😂) I'll keep them all in one place. Right here. 😁

 

Shield of Justice? What's this? Well, it's an idea similar to the badges we've had in previous years, but better! 😁 The brain-child of the great @Rob.

Quest 01:

 

So, bringing Barca back to glory? Using players who's names start with specific letters? SCORING GOALS?! Sweet!

 

I thought about approaching this by using my 1kc tactic for the first year (getting one player to score as many goals as possible) but I've been messing around with a tactic that will rely less on crossing the ball to striker with good aerial and more on being better all-round. This will be a good test for it.

 

Season 1: 

My chosen player for this, who will represent Lionel Messi in the "MSN" trio will be Lautaro Martinez.

As most people will know, he's an outstanding striker on this game. 

I flirted with the idea of using wonderkids and attempt to level them up as quick as possible but seeing as this is a challenge over just 3 seasons I don't see the reward being worth the risk of them not improving well enough.

 

The results from this first season will be produced a bit later...... 👍

Nice, looking forward to this. I'm in season 3 right now, can't seem to write careers up anymore though! I went with Martin Satriano, Scamacca and Darwin Nunez. Doing alright, but Nunez has been disappointing...

I would say I'm surprised by your choices but that would be a lie. 😂

You can do wonders with a 3 striker tactic so I'd be shocked if your numbers weren't incredible. 

I'll let you in on a secret. I've nearly finished but I'm staggering my write-ups here for dramatic effect. 😄 I didn't use Nunez in the end. He looked very underwhelming when it came to the time of choosing my N. It was down to an 11 month injury though. Going by my scores, I wish I had taken a punt on him.

Here we go then.

 

Season 1:

Transfers:

In a perfect world I would of liked to get rid of Pjanic, Dembele, Coutinho and Greizmann as they are all on seriously high wages. I have found it extremely difficult this year to sell such players so I just did what I could. The squad is decent enough with the right players in areas I need for the tactic so I just needed to get the funds and wages to buy Martinez.

The Spanish league finishes late in comparison to other leagues so its a bit of a spoiler for next season that Dembele leaves on a free, to Real Madrid of all teams. I actually wanted to keep him as he was very good in the end.

I managed to strengthen in other areas too after some decent work in the market. Overall, I'm satisfied but it's not the squad I would of liked to have built.

 

Competitions:

I wasn't sure how this tactic would perform having only tested in once previously. That was in Germany, with Dortmund.

The Player:

Great looking player!

A great season! Considering the style of play i adopted im a bit surprised i managed to get so much out of him. A fair few came from headers from corners as my old trusty corner setup has always worked but hardly any were headers from open play which I'm happy about.

GOALS: 91

 

Shout-out:

I've never really used him before because of the wage demands and being very injury prone but being forced into using him, sort of I'm glad I got to use him. For a season at least. Retrained as an AMC rather than used as a winger too.

 

Manager Profile:

Considering we scored 138 goals in total, the fact that Martinez scored 91 of that total is a bit nuts. I'm not complaining, that's the point. 😁

 

My chosen player for season 2, the S of MSN will be revealed in due course.

That's a great start! A fair bit better than my first season to be sure! And damn, Martinez looks great.

I think I should have looked beyond my normal wonderkid pool and gone with a more established player, though I'm happy enough with my effort in the end.

Can't wait to see who player 2 is.

Season 2

Player choice:

Again, i flirted with the idea of signing a wonderkind as there are a fair few choices. In the end im sticking with using more established players.

I had a bid accepted for Heung-Min Son as my S part of the MSN but he didn't want to leave Spurs. What's up with that?

I ended up signing....

Leroy Sane! A player i usually always end up signing to provide assists in my careers. Slightly annoyed that his aerial is that low in the game because he's better than that in real life. Good job this tactic isn't fully dependant on headed goals.

 

Transfers:

As seen on the previous update. Dembele left for free. I replaced him with Chiesa, for free. I also swapped Ter Stegen for Ederson at the end of last season.

No major changes really. The players I have are leveling up nicely so I'll stuck with it, for now.

Martinez was outstanding, again but I'm slightly disappointed in Sane's return. Its good but not great. 

i didnt change anything tactically, just switched one of my two AMC's to a striker. I'll switch thing up next season for the arrival of another front player.

GOALS: 74 + 47 = 121

OVERALL: 212

 

Manager Profile;

More goals overall this year which I'm pleased about. Nothing extraordinary but the tactic is doing the job for the challenge. I think I'll need to get a bit more out of Sane next season but as long as Lautaro keeps firing I should be on course for a big total.

Brilliant season again. Getting two players to score loads is, IMO, the far hardest of all three stages.

Doing great mate. I tried to sign Sane as a winger at various points in mine. but it never quite came off. Didn't even think of him for one of the main roles, but actually he looks a decent fit.

In comparison with mine, I only had 188 after season two, so you are well in front and should bring it home no worries! 

Can't wait to see who your N is!

I knew Sane would score goals as I used him I my peak years challenge a few months ago. Thinking back, I remember being slightly disappointed in the amount of goals he scored then. Probably a bit silly going with him again but, meh. It's done now.

My N might be a bit of a surprise to many. Although, there was only ever 3, maybe 4 choices. Plus, there's a pretty cool reason why I've gone with him.

I was close to attempting it with the original three but the thought of Messi and Suarez being useless in the 3rd season put me off.

Season 3

Player choice:

 

Seeing as I've managed to use players with both initials the same so far (Lionel Messi - Lautaro Martinez & Luis Suarez - Leroy Sane) i thought i'd continue that trend. That means signing a player with just one name that starts with N.......

 

Yep. The obvious choice. Which @Scratch predicted. 😂

 

Transfers:

I changed the tactic slightly for this season. Formation wise, only two positions changed but we've gone to overload to try and score as many as possible, obviously. 

The team didn't need changing all that much but I added a bit more quality to it. Salah, on a free is probably the pick of the bunch. Will be a good backup to Sane.

 

Competitions:

The switch of style conceded SO MANY goals but we also scored an absurd amount too. Which is actually my best goalscoring season ever, I think.

 

The Players:

 

GOALS: 78 + 48 + 43 = 169

OVERALL: 381

I can't complain with those returns.

 

Top Performers:

I couldn't post a career without acknowledgement for Owen Wijndal. One of my favourite players for the past two versions of FMM.

 

Manager Profile:

This final season saw us score 280 goals in total. That's just silly. Considering I'm quite reserved because I can't usually get a tactic to click when going gung-ho, I'm delighted to finally do so.

 

I hope a fair few people have a go at this challenge to inspire Rob to give us a few more. It's a bit of fun and only being 3 seasons it doesn't take long to rattle out.

Great work mate, that's a massive total (blew mine away!). Your tactic is working great. And Neymar, the man himself, glad to see him do so well. I sort of wished I'd used him instead of Nunez.

Nah mate, you smashed me in the Diamond In The Rough one too, so I think it's down to your tactic being great and you got it all going!
