We are reaching the end of our 4th season travelling the highways and byways of planet earth and we are also nearing the end of our time in Africa (Maybe) as we only have 2 more nations before we get onto some European soil.

As predicted by @Woody our next nation is Senegal.

Senegal 🇸🇳 

I decided to splash the cash again as I went for an absolute banger of a striker.

When I say “splashed the cash” I spent £11.5m on this guy from Bristol City which isn’t that much money in Premier League terms but for this challenge and how much I have spent on a lot of my strikers it feels like a really extravagant amount of money.

This shouldn’t take long.

I thought he might get the job done in his 2nd match as he got a goal in the 2-0 win over Brighton but no Aouar or Davis assist meant no dice.

A good win against Villa as well but still we stay in Senegal. We then progressed in the Champions League but crashed out in the FA Cup with a heavily rotated team.

He got the job done in our next game against Everton as he nodded in from an Aouar corner.

We stay in Africa but not on the continent itself as we hop into a speed boat and head to...

Cape Verde 🇨🇻 

I splashed the cash again to bring in a guide to these tropical islands mainly due to not many options.

Ze Luís came from a team in China and cost £10m but looks pretty good.

The games come thick and fast so although he hadn’t got the job done in his first 4 matches it felt like a lot more.

We faced Spurs in his 5th game and it wasn’t a good day at the office for the team but he got on the scoresheet for his 2nd goal for us.

Luckily it was Aouar who got the assist and with 1 league game left in the season we could move on 🙂

As promised we are heading back to Europe but we aren’t actually travelling that far.

Canary Islands 🇮🇨 (Spain 🇪🇸)

We jumped back in the speedboat and headed north to the Canaries and as it’s May what a pleasant time to get there.

The Canary Islands are a part of Spain so technically although the islands are geographically part of the African continent we are on European soil. That means I could bring in a Spaniard.

Unsurprisingly I had plenty of choice and some excellent players as well but I feel like I have been too extravagant with my player choices the last few picks so I reined it in a bit and spent £3.5m to bring in ex Leicester striker Raúl Uche from Cittadella in Italy.

He looks a pretty decent player with some pace and aerial but his movement is rank.

He only had 1 game in which to get the job done this season and it was against West Ham. A Spaniard did score but unfortunately it wasn’t ours and West Ham beat us. 

That means we go again next season still in Spain.

As this is the end of season 4 here is the round up of how we did.

Season 4 Round Up

It was a good season for my new look team this season and we had a first.

Transfers

A lot went on here this year with the rebuild I did in the summer and then with plenty of nations visted as well this season.

We won the league again and also the Community Shield and League Cup but missed out on the domestic clean sweep as Man Utd did us in the FA Cup. We also lifted the Champions League for the first time as we avenged last seasons defeat to Barcelona as we beat them on pens.

That brings season 4 to an end and potentially we are into the final season of this save but we aren’t heading home straight away as I want to visit a decent amount of Europe before we get back to London.

I remembered the name when I bought him but I can’t really remember him as a player at Leicester so I guess he didn’t make much impact I guess or at least not for me.

Some how a save that was only going to be 2 and a tiny bit seasons has now entered it 5th season and still has plenty of time left in it as well.

Just a reminder that we spent the summer in the Canary Islands as we look to complete Spain.

This is our man. 

It wasn't the best start to the season as our 2nd string cup team lost to Man Utd in the curtain raiser and then the 1st team couldn’t beat Chelsea either. We got the season under way against Leeds though. 

The next game was against Palace and Uche got himself on the scoresheet in a simple win. 

 It was Davis with the assists in this one. 

 

From Spanish soil we move a bit further north into Portuguese soil and another island.

Madeira (Portugal) 🇵🇹  

Madeira is the birthplace of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo and so in the summer I decided to see if I had a chance of signing him. He was still at Juve and his contract was coming to an end but he wouldn’t discuss terms 😕

In the summer his contract ran out and I got this message 🙁

So that was the end of that unfortunately.

In the end I went for this guy in the bargain of the save so far. 

He cost me £95k from a team in China and considering what I have paid for some other players that is the steal of the century.

He didn’t mess about either despite no goal in his first game.

He got the job done at the 2nd time of asking though.

I then sold him for £900k to a team in Norway so good business all round really!

From Madeira we didn’t have that many options as we aren’t on the European mainland yet so it was back to Africa.

Morocco 🇲🇦 

This was the only real option for us but luckily I had a good player lined up.

Bit of a banger this lad and he came at a price! £9.5m from Girona to be precise.

This is that weird season with the World Cup half way through so the Premier League games come thick and fast to start with buts that great as it gives plenty of chance to get moving countries and cup matches really get in the way with this save.

Despite picking a banger of a player this time though we didn’t move quickily.

At the 5th attempt we played Burnley and Nesyri certainly brought his shooting boots for that game as he smashed in a hat trick.

Aouar was the assister this time as he got 2 for us to get the job done.

So somehow we are still in Africa after a little European detour but it won’t be much longer now until we are back on European soil for good.

There are a couple of Gibraterians but they are both regens and I want to try and stick to real players.

We have finally reached the end of the African leg of this journey as we visit our 16th and final African nation. It has been a fun journey around Africa but I’m looking forward to moving on into Europe now.

First our final stop was..

Algeria 🇩🇿 

After Morocco we needed to move a little further east to then be able to head north to our next European nation.

My choice in Algeria wasn’t a player I’m very familiar with and he didn’t come cheap at £13.75m from Getafe but there wasn’t many non-regen options so Belfodil was my boy. His movement and shooting is very average but he can head it so hopefully he can get on the end of a corner or cross.

We are on a good run at the moment with plenty of goals including a brace for Belfodil against Everton but Davis or Aouar didn’t get an assist so we carry on.

We took on newly promoted Preston next and it was looking like a comfortable 2-0 win as we entered injury time. This was frustrating as Aouar had an assist on one of the goals but Belfodil hadn’t looked like scoring. That all changed in injury time as Aouar put the ball into the box and BANG! Belfodil got his bonce on it and made it 3-0 and we could move on.

It was time to cross the Med and head to a country with some of the best food available in the world.

Italy 🇮🇹 

I would happily spend ages here eating pasta, pizza and gelato but we have a job to do so let’s crack on.

My choice in Italy will be familiar to many after he had an up and down spell at Southampton a couple of years ago.

He is 30 now and is a good finisher but looks a little average all round. He came in for £10.25m from Norwich.

He didn’t waste any time although he didn’t score straight away as we had a 0-0 at Old Trafford against a Man Utd team who are being a bit of a thorn in my side the last few times we have played them.

The next game was against Leicester and 32 minutes in Manolo got his first goal for us following a through ball from Aouar meaning Italy was all done and dusted in 122 minutes. I kept Manolo on and he added another in his final game for us.

 

I couldn’t leave Italy straight away as we have lots of great food to eat and also I have a lot of options next as I can go north to Switzerland or Austria, west to France or east into the Balkans. 

I will just have to have a think about it whilst I eat another bowl of 🍝

We start today’s journey by entering @Mr Tree “mistress”.

Slovenia 🇸🇮 

My choice of player here wasn’t a natural striker but he is the best Slovenian attacking player I could choose from. He cost £13m from Dynamo Kiev and hopefully can do the job despite his lack of knowledge playing up top.

This is the annoying season with the winter World Cup meaning we had a big gap with no games and then a glut of cup games when we came back. This means we have a long list of games but Verbic only played in 2 of them.

His 3rd game for the club came against Brighton and he bagged a brace along with a Davis assist and we were done in Slovenia after 3 games but trust me it felt a lot longer.

 

 

The choice here was head south into the Balkan region further, head north into Austria or east into Hungary.

 

Hungary 🇭🇺 

I choose east as although Hungary isn’t considered a football super power these days back in the 50s they probably were the best team on earth and should have won the 1954 World Cup. They did become the first non British isles team to beat England on English soil in 1953 when they won at Wembley 6-3.

Hungary were the great innovators of mid 20th century football and I think are worth a visit in this challenge.

The player I went for would not have got near the Mighty Magyars of the 50s but it was the best of a bad and very small bunch. I spent 9m to get him from Hertha Berlin. In real life Keaveny started his career at Leicester and is half Irish.

 

 

He didnt mess about and despite not scoring on debut in an easy win over Chelsea he did better against Palace in the next game.

 

 

He actually completed the challenge in the 91st minute of his attempt as he scored and Davis assisted.

 

This session seemed to go on for ever but it was the World Cup that made it feel that way and we have actually ticked off 2 nations in 5 games.

We continued east with our next stop.

 

Ukraine 🇺🇦 

 

I had all kinds of problems getting a Ukrainian in as a couple of decent options were retiring so weren’t interested and then the lad I signed was injured so I had to wait to actually sign him once he was fit enough to pass a medical.

This means I played four league games without a Ukrainian which was annoying but the first time it has happened in this save which is a surprise.

 

This who I had to wait for and he looks ok I guess but not really worth all the hassle. Once he had passed his medical we handed over £3.3m to Shakhtar for his services.

 

We had had to wait to sign him and he made us wait for a goal as well as he managed to go 4 games without scoring.

 

 

At the 5th attempt I could finally be done with him as he scored his one and only goal for Arsenal in a 2-0 win over Burnley with Aouar getting the assist this time.

We hit country number 50 when we completed Hungary which feels like a little bit of an achievement especially as it means we have visted nearly a quarter of the official nations on Earth.

These 3 players were a real grind all round with stupid mid season World Cups all the other cup games and then injuries all pissing me off but we got there in the end and we can start to head north now.

Nope not Moldova we are heading in more of a northern direction.

Probably not as many as you would think tbh especially as they only tend to play league games and only in cups if I really have to especially since the winter update and I sub them if the main man has scored.
