Career The Worst Ever 1k - Luis Puente - Bottom to the Top

Having tried this career countless times with the vastly over inflated facilities of Tonbridge, even posting a couple that I ended up failing back in 2017 (I think), I thought I’d give it one last shot. I did a 1k starting in Seria C at the start of the season but this time I wanted to do it properly from the very bottom.

I searched for the best facilities in the Vanarama North/South and found... York

I then went about looking for someone that would join and had ok striker stats and ended up with Luis Puente. Rubbish but very young.

The rest of the transfers (taken at the end of the season) involved me selling everyone that I could and bringing free transfers - anyone be I’d heard of and anyone half decent who would come. The best signing being Jack Ruddy whom I sold the next season for about 600k to Celtic.

I knew Puente was rubbish to start as he’d get a 10 and jump about 16%. He increased a bit but nothing major. I managed to get him to sign a new contract to get rid of his release clause.

 

the season went as expected really... we won the league but nothing else.

 

A fairly healthy return of 47 in 42.

With a deadline of tomorrow to get this wrapped up I’ll skip forward a few seasons...

We won everything we could bar the big cups that were available up to league 1.

But, shock horror...

he’s of to Paok as he would never renew his contract!

Pretty decent stats now though for a poacher

 

The goals are getting higher and so far no big injuries.

The increase in goals are mostly down to this guy...

It looks to me that Paok got him on bosman. Maybe he can buy it back!?

I’d had plenty of job offers over the years, including Premier League teams but I needed to win the Championship to complete a clean sweep.

The timeline is a bit mixed up, but after a very brief stop at Brighton (he wasn’t interested in joining) I took over at Southampton after the transfer deadline. Pre leaving York I might have offered a few big contracts with very low buy out clauses to the best players...

 

He and a few others joined in the January and the journey continued!

He has now completely plateaued at 21, literally went from 8% jumps to nothing left to improve.

Hes stared playing for Mexico and getting goals which is promising if I can get the job.

 

By the end of the season I’d lost 6 goals and half a season to Paok.

No trophies though

So I diligently took a pic of the state of play upon being appointed.
 

This is peak Puente after maxing out his training and mentoring. You might note his value has reached a whopping 22mm.

Basically I got sacked but didn’t take a screenshot from the time of my sacking of his goals for Mexico, so the whole Mexico jaunt was a waste of time!

I’d have been better off never calling him up and having him always available for club games!

At this stage he has has the following totals

York - 233 after 4 seasons. Not bad and on course for a 1k

Southampton - 19 after 1 season

Mexico - zilch because I messed it up

Total - 252 after 5 seasons.
 

Already looking a bit hairy considering he’s essentially rubbish and is (probably) going into the toughest league for a 1k within the next season or so...

The Southampton Years

Running out of time now so here is the next ‘few years’ in speed format

A pretty easy stroll in the Championship plus the FA cup as a bonus. Reiss Nelson on a free was nice and JWP was still bossing midfield.

 

A solid 5th in the first year in the prem plus the Charity sheild and Europa League

 

A first Prem plus the Euro Super and Catbao cups

 

whoops, 2nd

 

A first champions league

 

and so on, I’ve just noticed I never did the clean sweep!

 

 

 

How is Luis Getting in through all this?

Total - 573 after 12 seasons - at this rate and with numbers heading down, a player who played his best football in League 1 isn’t going to make it too 1000 in the prem...

At this point in the game Leicester were in League two and had just sacked their manager, I applied but they were bankrupt and their budget never would have allowed me to be able to offer him a contract he would agree too. He’s rubbish in the background so his contract demands were always pretty low but not that low.

So after lots of applications, it was either go back to the Championship and end up back in the prem after a year or two or cross the pond.

Toronto FC had a decent amount of money, I did have to flog a couple of their bigger players to get the wage offer up to a level he would accept first though.

i released all the Southampton players I could and stuck in a few more contract extensions with tiny buy out clauses before leaving. The result being I managed to sign a bunch of 16 and 17 year olds and left Southampton open to be pilledged from bigger clubs.

I didn’t know if he’d make it, and to be honest I was getting bored churning out less and less goals each year with same team. If I’m going to make it I want some enjoyment from the game building a new team.

Plus i generally do like to move around. in most of my previous careers, back in my heavy usage days circa 2016/17 and the last couple of years I tend to change clubs. As long as you are careful it’s quite easy to orchestrate.

The Toronto years

A few injuries plus the MLS doesn’t break for internationals including the North America Cup?! Every time he went off to Mexico he missed club games. All this means his ratios were good in lesser league but he didn’t get enough games to make it easy.

Southampton - 340 in 8 seasons

Toronto - 393 - in 10 seasons

Mexico - zilch because I messed it up

Total - 966 so far. 34 goals to go which at this rate should mean about a season and a half. However, two retirement reconsiders down, I don’t think there any more in the bank.

Wow, that is quite some decline. His normally reliable Pace has gone completely. He’s now worth a total of 35k!

But has he done it in the last two seasons???

of course he has! (Or I would t have wasted my afternoon doing this...)

I’ve just looked back at a career I started (and didn’t finish) and it was on FMM2018

Somewhere yeah, it’ll be in 2018 but it’s probably not worth finding. I think I did the first season or two then gave up having played ahead and not done it.
