Career Augusta National Challenge Attempt - Hole 2 Completed!

I am going to be attempting the Augusta National Golf Club Challenge that can be found here. Since I have only been playing for 4 weeks, my only goal is to complete all of the holes, and if I get a score under +18, that is a bonus 😶. I will be using Man City. Here goes...

I choose Wang Dalei, who very surprisingly developed like a wonderkid at 31 years old! Also, I realized that he can play striker as well, so now that this hole is complete I will be retraining him as a target man for a future hole.

Beginning of the Season

By January the man had jumped to 15 in multiple attributes, and by the end of the season, he reached 16 handling!

We were fairly active in the transfer market, the main departures being Ederson, Jesus, and Walker. The main additions were Saka and Verratti, who went straight into the starting XI, and Donnurumma who was signed to be the long-term goalkeeper in January and loaned back to Milan as he wouldn't have been able to be used anyway. Kaio Jorge had a fantastic season on loan at affiliate Girona, scoring for fun in the La Liga Smartbank

We finished the season in 2nd, 4 points off Liverpool.

In the other competitions, we went somewhat far, disappointingly crashing out to Leipzig in the Champions League getting beat 3-0 at the Red Bull Arena after extra-time following a 2-0 home win in the first leg.

Our man played every single match of the season and conceded 28 goals in 56 games, and 16 in 38 in the league.

Final Result

Wang Dalei conceded 16 goals in the league meaning that the result for this hole is a par.

A solid start to this challenge, and hopefully the next hole will be kind 😃 !

Team Performance

We had a rather poor season in the league finishing behind Arsenal 😮😮😮 , but we had a flurry of end of season cup finals, losing to Liverpool in the FA Cup, but beating Tottenham to win the Champions League, and fairly easily winning the Club World Cup, the toughest draw being the semifinal against Liverpool.

Matias Arezo won Young Player of the Year on loan at Arsenal, scoring 23 goals and helping them to a 2nd place finish.

It was a disaster. 10-11 Aerial Ability and 12 Stamina didn't help his cause, but it was the injury that really hurt his season.

The injury came at the worst time in the season, as he missed more than 8 matches, and he was on fire with about a goal per game when the injury came, and it completely wiped out his momentum, and he struggled for fitness and form, missing loads of sitters until April when he started to improve again. The UCL win meant a few more games in the CWC, but it is split across seasons because the season changes on June 24.

In the last game of the season on June 23, he scored 4 goals, but it wasn't enough to get into the bogey range.

He then proceeded to finish the CWC with 12 goals which if the games were earlier would've counted for that season, but sadly, the score for the hole is a double bogey

Final Result

Ansu Fati scored 27 goals in all competitions meaning that the result for this hole is a double bogey.

A dreadful result and the only positive is that next season is basically a free season, because it doesn't matter how many he scores, the result is already a bogey. So I will overhaul the team and start testing tactics for future holes.

Yeah, I somehow managed to forgot that Chelsea had a pink shirt, and then remembered a few days before deadline day and desperately tried to sign him but I couldn't do it in time. I was really disappointed about Bale not joining, he has some really nice stats for a Target Man.

Hole 2: Season 2

So with nothing to play for this season, I focused on strengthening the squad and preparing for the next hole.

Transfers

Some significant activity in the transfer market, getting in some real quality with De Jong, Sancho, Dest, Kounde, and Todibo, as well as selling on some players that were getting older for significant sums of money.

Ansu did much better than last year, even though he was being rotated much more and I wasn't particularly really basing the tactic around him as the challenge was already gone.

Final Result

 

Ansu Fati scored 36 goals in all competitions, but it doesn't matter because the result for this hole is a double bogey. A tough result, but bring on the next hole!

A nice improvement for Fati even though it wasn’t your focus. This event is hard but very rewarding as you learn so much about the game throughout.
