Which teams are true title contenders + which are teams for the future?
 

4. Azzurri FC

As the second youngest squad in the draft, with a mix of many young high-potentials together with a few experienced pros (inc. star attacker Son) - @FrAn4eSc0's team may be expected to challenge for a Euro Cup place this season, improving over time to challenge for the title in future years - but perhaps they can start that title challenge sooner rather than later to win their one free player sponsorship?

• Manager:   Zidane
• Formation:   41221
• Sponsorship:   Win the Title = One FREE player
• Squad Age:   Young (average of 21 years old)

Squad Analysis:

• MVPs = Son, De Ligt, Donnarumma.
• Strengths = their squad contains a sprinkling of some of the world's best players in those positions (e.g. De Ligt in defense). However the main aspect of this squad is their youth and potential - this could be one of the best teams in the Division in a few seasons time. With no Europe this year, perhaps the best outcome would be to finish 5th-7th in season 1 - so that their young stars can play easier games with better performances in the Euro Cup next season - turbocharging their development?
• Concerns = given that it often takes time for youth to fully develop their potential, perhaps a title win in season 1 seems unlikely. There may be a lack of goals this first season, due to their great reliance on star attacker Son (and Ferran Torres to a lesser extent) for scoring, plus the surprising acquisition of TWO star left backs - of which one will likely play off the bench - which has confused fans.
• Bizarre Question - how many red cards will Azzurri FC get this year? Left back Davies seems to be a magnet for them.

 

5. Town AFC

"You'll never win anything with kids" - this is the statement @StuartM's team will be aiming to destroy. With the youngest squad in the draft (their oldest players are just 23), like Azzurri FC above, perhaps the expectation this season should be to challenge around the Euro Cup places, with the expectation of better things in future seasons. However, with Conte's 532 formation and the acquisition bargain target man Tammy Abraham alongside these wonderkids - they are going to be a very unique proposition in the draft.

• Sponsorship:   Top 4 = Buy a Non-Vibe Player for 50% of Value
• Squad Age:   Youngest (average just below 21 years old)

Squad Analysis:

• MVPs = Abraham, Odegaard, Declan Rice
• Strengths = Conte's 532 formation should give Town AFC an advantage in the central positions against all the other Vibe teams. Their acquisition of Tammy Abraham could be one of the (relatively) bargain striker purchases of the draft - he should be lethal in racking up goals / points, especially against the non-Vibe teams. Plus the biggest strength is that, like Azzurri FC above, Town AFC should get better and better each season. Ones to watch.
• Concerns = given that all (?!) their players are 18-23 years old, fans are urging patience with the manager and squad, with few expecting to be in the top 4 straight from the start. Especially with their participation in the European Champions League and the Club World Cup, this squad may be tired and jaded by mid-season. While they have a good, well-balanced squad to deal with this, lastly there are concerns about a lack of depth in central defense and central midfield to suit Conte's 532. 
• Bizarre Question = will red-card magnets Vincious Junior and Weston McKennie get more red cards than the whole of Azzuri FC's squad combined?

 

6. DanEnglish FC

While its dangerous to write about your own team - @DanEnglish has expressed his disappointment in the draft selections so far. Taking the position as "the New Spurs", with DanEnglish FC both replacing the London club and with the acquisition of Captain Kane - there is a good squad here, but probably only good enough to be challenging between the Top 4 and more likely falling short into the Euro Cup places - so missing out on their free player sponsorship.

• Manager:   Mancini
• Formation:   41221
• Sponsorship:   Top 4 = One Free Player
• Squad Age:   Normal (average of 26 years old)

Squad Analysis:

• MVPs = Kane, Pogba, Varane.
• Strengths = similar to a few other clubs in the draft, this is a team in their prime years, with everyone (except two players so far) between 23 to 28 years old. Their is especially good depth of attackers, with Rashford, Werner, Berardi, Gnabry and Felix behind Captain Kane, with a fairly solid (but not special) back 5 defensive unit, with a monthly heal bonus to help things along.
• Concerns = there is a great reliance on the injury prone duo of Kane in attack and Varane in defense. Playing in the Euro Cup will mean the players are a little more tired than those not in European competitions, especially that the heal bonus will be fairly hard to achieve. Lastly there is a gaping hole in defensive midfield - which surely the side should aim to solve in the final draft round.
• Bizarre Question - will @DanEnglish be as active trading as in last year's draft league? Assuming other teams are open to deals, will they be able to add draft targets Sule, Tadic or even Messi into the squad at some point in the first season?

You've picked up on my main concerns too, I signed ESR remembering how good he was for me as a RPM in FMM21... then only realised that he was a green CM because I retrained him 😬. Hopefully Conte still uses him!

I'm hoping to get away with the lack of depth at CB but I guess we will see on that one!

Mine can be a variant of ‘Spursy” / ‘new spurs‘ (throwing away a ‘top 4 = free player’ sponsorship for example sounds quite Spurs-like).

@DanEnglishgreat and spot on ! 👍 The team is build to challenge for the tittle in 2 to 3 seasons... The goal for Zidane is over that period to develop and implement his ideas with this young squad. I completely agree that a Europa League qualification would be the best given the age of the team and it will be a good stepping stone they to build confidence. Davies was available and just we couldn't miss on him given that he is one of the best left backs in the world. Really exciting squad with exciting manager. Could Zidane make a dinasty at Azzurri Ground ? Time will tell. But me and the board are very optimistic for the coming years 👍
