Career 1000 Goals With A Bunch Of Amateurs

Thanks @Rob. Quite satisfied with the goal per match ratio as well. Obviously that's one of the main things every manager doing goalscoring challenges looks at. And the typical benchmark being 1 gl/m, but realistically speaking I couldn't expect (merely hope) to stay as close as possible with these lads. By the end of this I'm hoping for a ratio of 0.8+

After 12 seasons of this madness it's starting to become a little difficult to find eligible players for this challenge. Firstly, the obvious reason, they must hail from amateur clubs. Secondly, I'm not allowed to use duplicate players or clubs. So after having used 24 clubs, + the fact that some of these clubs have turned semi-professional in the meantime, the list of available clubs is shrinking rapidly. Thirdly, amateur players have the tendency to retire a couple seasons earlier than regular players. This gives me an extra headache, as I'm trying to get as deep into this career as possible using real players only.

Anyways, like the earlier Amateur Selection, my shortlist counts another 4 potential stars from different countries for Update 25 and 26. The 2 receiving the most support/votes from Vibe are getting half a season each. The other 2 are cut and disappear permanently. So pls take a few seconds to examine the lads below and leave a comment with one or two names you'd like to see featuring in this challenge in the next two updates.

 

🇩🇰 Naesby Boldklub - "Dracula" Dominic Kwarasey

• "Dracula" started his career in 2019-20 at FC Fleury 91 and moved to Kolding IF, where he has spent the majority of his amateur career. Naesby Boldklub are his current club colors. 40 career goals.

Dislike: poor Aerial, poor Decision-making and that low-blue Pace is going to cause problems.

 

🇵🇹 Bustelo - Viriato "Flip Flap" Fernandes

• "Flip Flap" started his career in 2016-17 at Amora. Followed by Cova da Piedade -> Cova da Piedade B -> Sesimbra -> Ribeira Brava and presently Bustelo. He's played 94 games scoring 9 career goals.

Like: fine Shooting and the Aerial-Strength combination for a possible Target Man role.

Dislike: both primary attr. Decisions and Movement are sub standard. That's a big worry. 

 

🇭🇷 NK Graficar Vodovod - Julius "The Joker" Fechtenburg

• "The Joker" started his career in 2016-17 at OB. Many clubs followed- Dalum- Brabrand IF- Alta de Lisboa- Skovshoved- and Graficar Vodovod in Croatia. Games played: 145. Career goals: 31.

Dislike: 13/17 attr are orange or red + he's a CM, no striker. How am I scoring goals with him?

• "Million" started his career in 2019-20 at Llantwit Major which he served ⅔ of his career. The other ⅓ he spent at Caerau Ely, where he only managed a single goal from his total 13 career goals.

Thanks B, been buying strikers on the cheap between 1-20k and selling for 5-10M. Well, of course, it does take top teammates to make it work, but as you see it's very much possible to turn amateurs into decent prolific frontmen 👍

Amateur Player 25: Julius "The Joker" Fechtenburg

"Fox in the Box" boxed a pretty good fox in him delivering a nice 29 gls in the half a season he stayed with the club. His +29 gls foxes our numbers up to 639 gls infoxicated and 361 gls yet to be infoxicated. The Amateur Selection process has this time turned our attention to an East European team. I'm very excited about this player since we're dealing with a new nation in 🇭🇷 as well as a non-striker. That's a first this career, so I'm cherishing the tough challenge ahead of getting goals out of a CM. Next Amateur - > from Croatian club: NK Graficar Vodovod - player #25: Julius "The Joker" Fechtenburg.

How unfortunate is that. Really didn't see this coming. I must have been only days late because this message wasn't there a week earlier. Apparently between then and now the game decided there was no future for him at any club. Bummer. Really nothing we can do about it so we move on to the next amateur on the list.

Amateur Player 25: "Dracula" Dominic Kwarasey

The unfortunate turn of events leads us the 2nd most popular amateur Vibe voted for. Next Amateur - > from Danish club: Naesby BK - player #25: "Dracula" Dominic Kwarasey.

Technical Attributes - nothing noteworthy to report here.

Mental Attributes - a drop in Movement from 11 to 10. Pretty sure it's got nothing to do with my coaching staff and everything with his age.

Physical Attributes - once again nothing noteworthy to report here. Considering his age that's good.

One of the worst pages I've seen of my amateur lads. Expectations are always set really low, but as we progress in this challenge maybe the lowest expectations are still too high. There's usually one positive among the many negatives, such as "rarely gets injured". Not even that. A bunch of "lacks" but worst one is "inconsistent player".

"Dracula" gets his only brace of his spell and is on to set a terrible tally. Many late stoppage time goals followed by loads of missed penalties. One thing that can be said is that he's indeed very very inconsistent. And kinda unlucky with that injury.. 

.. which essentially means the end of the Draculian journey. As we're in mid-December there's no time left to recover from a month long injury. I'm kinda glad it's over as he's been far from great. I can shift my focus to our next amateur lad you guys voted for.

To "Dracula's" defense he got the fewest games in of his fellow amateurs, but at the end of the day it's the goals (19) only that count. And that's something he failed to collect in abundance. It's not a record low, but he did equal the all-time low of two compatriots. Scottish compatriots. Hopefully there's a Scot later in this career who can break with the somewhat "honorable" tradition these Scotsmen have set in my career.

Yes, one of the worst performers. Not necessarily the worst looking one attribute-wise, but it really felt like this guy did his best to disappoint. 

Re the hammering home part 😂 maybe that's the reason I've never, not once won world MOTY award in this save. Because I keep buying two shit players every season year after year.

Amateur Player 26: Viriato "Flip Flap" Fernandes

"Dracula" was a real poor showing and 100% of the Vibers who commented made in no uncertain terms clear of this Draculian drama. With only +19 gls to add to our total it's a miniscule step towards the finishline. This brings us to 658 gls sucked in and 342 sucked out. Next Amateur - > from Portuguese club: Amiense - player #26: Viriato "Flip Flap" Fernandes.

Technical Attributes - Shooting dropped a pt from 14 to 13. Well, he turned 31yo so it's minimizing the damage at this point.

The Derby of the North. For the fans no bigger game than playing Vs arch rivals Boavista. An entertaining 3-4 away win and "Flip Flap" makes one his. 

"Dracula" had no positives to show for but our "Flip Flap" is sporting a healthy 2. That's reason enough to believe we can outdo the "bloodman" and get more than 19 gls. 

Loving the Invicta Derby game, and this time "Flip Flap" goes gigantic with a masterful hattrick. And an 11th straight Boavista trashing.

A rather sluggish start to his campaign picking up an injury after only 3 games in. As many games missed followed by a very respectable scoring streak of 16 gls in his first 17 games. A much better ratio already. 

The consistency dropped towards the final weeks of the season but not before setting a solid return of 26 in 28. A handful of games missed that could've seen us hit 30 gls but there's no complaints today. "Flip Flap" did well. Gotta cherish these decent performers cause I've seen the slim pickings on the other side and the leftovers we're being fed ain't tasty.
