Ok so here's my picks for round 3.

ST: Marcus Rashford (74m)

CD: Milan Skriniar (59m)

CM: Mason Mount (61m)

GK: Jasper Cillesson (19.5M)

So that should be $213.5m spent which leaves me a very small 247m left for 10 players... (yay 24m each?)

I nearly picked Skriniar myself, but Bruno was so expensive I had to go cheaper!

Yeah I was back and forth if I could afford Mount or not, I think I've got the rest of my team sorted and I don't think they're picks anyone else is going to go for. Maybe 1 or 2 of them, so I've got a couple of reserves ready.

This next round (4) is pretty critical for me. It’ll be my 2nd most expensive round of expenditure. It’s got THREE first team players to draft. In earlier rounds, I’ve deliberately bought some lower priced squad players, and now is time to fill the 1st team. It’ll be tense for me if have to wait for one of the later picks.

By that logic, isn't it more efficient to prioritise drafting players that will make a solid XI first then moving to squad players?

Usually yes. But you only get a competitive advantage if you either (1) do something different to everyone else, and/or (2) are much better than everyone else. I’m going with (1).

My logic:

(a) most people will do the solid / expensive XI first, then cheaper squad players after, (b) only I’m crazy enough to pick some of my solid / expensive XI, so there should be low / no competition for them ...
therefore (c) lets get the main XI players first who others might want e.g. Messi, then (d) let’s prioritise some cheap / suitable squad players before others get them, and (e) then after get the remaining more expensive / less desired XI players, who I’m unlikely to get beaten to.

Extreme Example - if De Bruyne* wasn’t drafted in the 1st or 2nd round ** you could “probably” leave him to the 5th or 6th round, as few will have the funds to get him by that point.

* Note - my remaining XI players are not that desirable!

** Note - for Defenders, it’s probably after 2nd or 3rd round, as defenders aren’t available in round 1.

PS. This is all a result of my club’s guiding PHILOSOPHY which I made up before the manager draft & will share later. So for most people, drafting their XI first makes sense. But (hopefully) not for me.

All manager will have a number (the first one to sign up will be nr 1 etc), I will use a randomiser each draft round to see in what order everyone will get their pick.

Coaches/players/sponsorship will be selected through 24 “Draft Rounds”:

1. Coaches x1

2. Sponsorship x 1

3. Striker x2

4. Left Wing x2

5. Right Wing x2

6. Midfield x6

7. Right Wing Back x2

8. Left Wing Back x2

9. Central Defender x4

10. Goalkeeper x2

EDITOR

I will use editor to do the following things:

– Upgrade facilities/reputation/stadiums etc to max for every club

- Transfers players between clubs

Updates will be monthly (will try and update on the 1st of every month).

EARNING BUDGET

Sponsorships with 2 targets and rewards (more to come):

Yes. I assume most people will have a similar situation. I’m just betting / gambling / desperately hoping that your +$30m players are different to mine!

Plus I guess maybe one / two people max will spend +$100m on a player in rounds 4-6, but let’s see - theories are only great if reality confirms them.

I do have an eye on someone worth around $90m. I wanted to go for someone with $100m+ value but they’re either not so interesting or someone else have already them
