Option A : GAPG: 1.0* : 1 pt (tied with option B)

Option B : GAPG: 1.0* : 1 pt (tied with option A)

Option C : GAPG: 1.4 : 3 pts (winner)

 

Tie-Breaker:

Let me start with explaining the tie-breaker as you're probably wondering what the deal is there. Don't tie-breakers break ties? They certainly do, but I couldn't and didn't want to break the tie in the end. Here's why - so after 10 games Option A and B were tied. I played an additional 10! (=20 games) and still tied. If in this particular instance the differences are that minimal, you know what, no option and manager deserves to lose at this point in my opinion. Hope you guys understand but that's the way I see it. I could play up to another 30 or 40 games and still no winner. So there it is, it's both ending as Runners-Up getting 1pt a piece. No more than both deserve. Hope everyone understands and is happy with that. Option C wins and gets 3pts.

 

Formations:

The main difference between 'A' and 'B' was of course the Wingers v Wing-backs. The former throwing in crosses over a shorter distance. Quality. And the latter over much farther distances but lots more as we were playing over flanks with Early Crosses. Quantity. So the ratio is better for option 'A' but because 'B' threw in so many there's also more completed crosses, thus more assists coming from there. 'A' had slightly more assists coming from AP in turn. Clearly, these balanced each other out.

Option 'C' is the clear winner tho. It looks like the multitude of attacks won it on the day. Every day, unless option 'A' and 'B' get better wide players. Look at the 0.9 assist ratio for the option 'C' WMs. That kinda blew my mind as far fewer crosses completed; 4 per game. From the highlights I noticed through balls - assists - from the WMs as well (and not just crosses) which probably accounts for that high 0.9 ratio. I need more matches to definitively confirm the above, but that's the pattern I observed. Good WMs can be super effective in certain formations. Both APs did quite well too and perhaps the Poacher was what made Benteke truly shine. Having a solid goal-scorer beside him made the difference in getting 1 assist / game in. So fewer goals scored than 'A' and 'B' but many more goal involvements overall. A deserving winner in the end.

Bordeaux

A beautiful city, very tasteful wine, and a fantastic club. Bordeaux are in deep crisis now, there's no denying in that. 1x UEFA Intertoto Cup Winners, 4x French Cup Winners and 6x Ligue 1 Winners. However, these former French Champions are now playing ball in Ligue 2. Such great historical club deserves to be playing in one division only and that's the top one. We're not going to play an entire season, but we're going to help them take a giant leap into the right direction. 

They have a very decent squad worthy of promotion. The only thing that's lacking is, you guessed it, a man with Leadership who leads them the way. A man who makes the right Decisions at the right time - who isn't selfish and is all about Teamwork. An Experienced man who's in the right Position on the grass to make a great Captain.

 

This reminds me of a friend's quote years ago ..

Back when the game was on the PSP there used to be rumours that whatever position the captain you selected was then the players in the same position as him felt the benefits and their performances improved.

So if you chose a forward with high leadership then it would have a positive impact on the rest of your front 2-3. No idea whether it was true or not but worth mentioning.

I wasn’t sure whether to go with option A or B - as both seemed like upgrades.

However am surprised anyone went for option C - while the old guy is a better leader, he seems to be a downgrade in terms of player ability + suitability. I’d assume that extra leadership + personality is useful, it wouldn’t compensate for the downgrade in ability over just 1 match. Surprised. 

@leedsunited87 / @broodje kip / @DutchTony - can you share your logic / feelings of why you went with option C ? To educate the rest of us 🙂
