Job Number Fifteen

 

We're returning to Blackpool! I messed up the early months hoping for a League One job but now we're at the business end of the season it's time to aim for progress. As undefeated streaks don't last long it's this time of year where I need to make my mark so the second I saw a title challenging team appear I jumped at the chance.

I joined the side bang in form and they even battered Mansfield before I arrived! Do well here and we should have another promotion to our name at the least!

Well in Wycombe! I can't not be happy for them, especially knowing I played a part! Shame I don't get any credit for it mind.

They just won't leave me alone! I go up a division and bam Mansfield win the playoffs! Typically they got past the semi's on pens to! It seems FMM still has plans for us and Mansfield.

I'm extremely happy with this to be honest, I think I'm doing pretty well.

No Mansfield in sight but we have a tough looking second fixture in the cup. 

The Results

We throw away a two goal lead in the first game of the season and then crash out the cup. How am I meant to prove myself at League One level when I'm fighting so much! 

The Defeat

I tried to play on the break but an early goal ruined that plan. I didn't expect to win but I'm disappointed we didn't at least put up a fight.

Because FMM thinks of the obvious and not the logical . All I can assume is the game doesn't see resigning as disloyal. Annoyingly enough my financial control is always up and down! As I'm not making signings I rarely look at the financial screen and every time I have looked it's been red

Let's hope so! I've been employed but not played it as yet. Tbh top my head can't even remember where I ended up haha. Wycombe are bottom of L1 though so maybe I can swoop in and save the day in a few updates time :).

Agreed. It appears a title might be worth way more than a promotion as still not having much luck with L1 jobs which is frustrating.

I felt like we all needed a little break from this adventure so I hope you don't mind that I took a few days off. With that out the way we're now back in management with Wimbledon as we hope that job number sixteen is the one we've been waiting for!

Not a bad run at all, we start at home with no Mansfield in sight but a cup game is in the not so distant future.

Unfortunately however our streak never really got off the ground as title challenging Fleetwood cut us down. 

The Defeat

A roller coaster of emotions as I'm left feeling like I've been kicked in the balls. This result hurt, this result got under my skin, this result got me angry but the show must go on.

I can take these on the chin as I know the first half of the season is all about getting to the second half lol. If this was a title challenging update I'd be crushed haha.

 lmao, just kidding. Hopefully that challenge completing title isn't too far off. As I've said before the save has worked way better than imagined as I expected to have loyalty issues and all that so it has already gone longer and better than I thought it would.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :). I think to get a streak of that length again I'd have to drop back down to that level. IMO the lower you are the easier and more basic the game is as all the players are terrible etc lol.

Job Number Seventeen

The last update was hard to take but I bring good news this time as we've finally landed a League One job! 

The Fixtures

So we start against our good friends at Wycombe! Scratch predicted our streak would last seven games, he was not to know that not only did we have a dreaded cup game but Mansfield are also the sixth fixture in the list! 

A Bitter Sweet Afternoon

We manage to start the streak off with a win but what damage have we done to Wycombe? 

Cup Progress! 

Get in! It felt like the end was near as our domination in both legs didn't really show in terms of goals but the RNG was on our side as we win the shootout. 

However this replay bumps the Mansfield fixture up one place to fixture seven, did @scratch99predict the unpredictable?

The Results

Unfortunately not as even the thought of playing Mansfield seemed to make us crack! That's the second time we've lost with a Mansfield fixture looming, we really need to get past this mental block! But seriously how the hell does FMM do story telling so well? I'm assuming this is all just random coincidence but the way it lines up is spooky! 

The Defeat

Nelson clearly didn't fancy the pressure of the Mansfield game so he did his best to get suspended it appears. Unfortunately he made this decision early in the match and left us with an uphill battle we couldn't overcome.

6 matches is becoming the norm! That's still really good going, when you're effectively starting from scratch each game. Am I right in thinking that you don't make any transfers or tweak the tactics much? I wonder how long you would last if you were doing this?

No transfers as I don't see the point (rarely in window, waste of time, only so many freebies etc) and just using my usual tactic :).
