This weeks question: What do you call the list of numbers on a players profile? are they Player Attributes or are they Player Stats?

I saw this being discussed on twitter within the PC FM community and I thought it would be good to get the answer from the (vastly superior) FMM community as well. The answer is kinda obvious but I definitely find myself using both words at times.

Haha, a hole I get myself into all the time! I'll often share a player and call his results his stats but I'll also call his profile his stats even though they're his attributes :S

So yeah I call them stats but I know they're attributes which is daft as I also call their results stats. I'm on the fence I suppose :P

LOL

Misread the topic. I thought you were asking if, when looking for a player, we look more into his attributes or his stats...and so I picked stats.

To answer your question, I say "atributos" :P I'll let you figure out what that means because it's soooooooo hard to figure that one out :P

As a side poll, would be interesting to see if people value more player's attributes or stats. It's very common to see average players with incredible stats (30+ goals per season) and top players with crappy stats (10- goals per season).

Ive always said stats! But it is his attributes i guess.

So will forget this though when i post a career or anything ? and still post his 'stats'.

Would anyone agree that the stat is the number that tells you how good an attribute is? All players have the same attributes but what defines them are the stats. I.e. you want to choose a striker you would likely choose the one who had better stats in his shooting and movement attributes.

Totally agree. I’ve always signed players who suit my formation and methodology. That’s why I’ve never signed Ronaldo, but i have always loved Suarez.

What I mean is that the attribute is passing, shooting, creativity etc and the stat is the number. So it is perfectly correct to say that you signed a player because his attribute stats were impressive. Or that a players stats intimates that he has all the attributes to be a successful target man.

Therefore I would say, in answer to the question, that the numbers are stats. The attributes are the shooting, passing etc.

I have never thought of it that way but that does make sense.

Ok, a more serious approach..

  • Attributes = skill points
  • Stats = performance numbers

Anyone who confuses the two is a very poor manager.

I call them statributes. Or is it attribats? Sounds like a pair of South American strikers.

I remember Manual Statributes and Pedro Attribats they scored a load of goals for River Plate back in the 90s:P
