Havertz has done well in his first season here, but couldn't help scoring those upper 3 scorelines. No worries tho. My team is in its early 20s so my expectations are still realistic. In perhaps 2-3 seasons I really want them to have a serious go at this for at least 6-8 seasons before I revamp the squad again. For now I'm good for the coming decade. Still doesn't feel great to fail this challenge over and over again.

Half season's up so it's time to leave Denmark and say goodbye to "Mind games" and look for Amateur Player #6. We're in Wales, something with a bunch of 'c' and 'w's Celtic is the club (sorry but the spelling of those Welsh clubs is a hardcore bitch) and please welcome Lewis "Lewandowski" Iles.

We're getting close to the end of this side challenge now. I can smell the finishline already. 727 team goals scored 273 left. 3.24 goals per match we were on has now been overturned to 3.33 gls p/m. I like this number a lot better. The squad is maturing and it's showing.

Main Challenge - Player 7: Diogo "Senhor🍷Port" Paixão

I'm sooo glad we finally got rid of that annoying "Lewandowski" dude, admittedly he did ok but if I told him in his face I'd never ever been able to get rid of the dude. So now we can start looking for Amateur Player #7. I actually found 2 very nice amateur players, one in Portugal and the other in Denmark. So we're settled for the entire season. First half season I'll use this Portuguese lad I just signed. Second half season I'll travel to Denmark to buy my Danish friend. With few to no transfer dealings that need to be done we can pace through the next decade! 😄 

Club: Vila Real. Player: Diogo "Senhor Port" Paixão. His nickname means 'Mr Port'. Port is a fortified wine produced with distilled grape spirits exclusively in the Douro Valley in the Northern provinces in Portugal.

Vila Real is actually my mother's hometown team in North Portugal, very lovely city in the mountains - just visited couple years ago - so there's really no better nickname I could've given this man. And I'm extra determined to do my mom's city proud with one of its players.

No BS-ing around. This man is psyched to grab his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with both feet. Sweet hat-trick. It gets better. 

Amateur my arse! No amateur scores 5 goals and gets away with it. Unless you're on 🍷 of course. It includes a hat-trick of pen.shots but very impressive for this dude's standards nonetheless. 

His development's been very nice too. As mentioned in the previous update, I'm putting these amateurs on light training in order to increase rest time + game time. It certainly doesn't seem to have affected his skills. He looks like a 2nd div. or maybe even lower 1st div. striker at this point. Once €500 -> 8.25M in ½ season. Nice bump in value. 

Some return. I really hate to say goodbye to "Senhor Port" as he's been exceptional and I know for a fact there's even way more goals in him. His amateur days are over I can tell you that much. Sad to part but I thank Paixão for his loyal services and hopefully he finds himself a good new prof. club where he can continue doing what he does best.

Dead on, Ian, unfortunately. It's quite evident that scorelines are higher when my amateur striker isn't in the starting 11. I'll just keep hoping for a good season, worst case I'll do a few extra seasons after I've completed the main one. Then everything's in my favor and it's much more doable.

The first small success in this career is in sight. We're only 153 team gls away from wrapping this side challenge up. If the guys show good form it could be as fast as by the next update. Hopefully so as it's one thing less to worry about. 3.33 gls p/m has now been upped to 3.39 p/m.

Another season wrapped up and another failed attempt. This side challenge is proving really tough and as Ian rightly pointed out, playing amateur strikers hurts our chances of getting below scorelines. We do get the occasional 7 goal match, this year we even got 10-0 which isn't part of the actual challenge, but we need consistency to have a chance of scoring all in a single season. We'll keep trying tho, and if we keep failing, best option is to complete it once the main challenge is done. With a team at full strength.

Main Challenge - Player 8: William "Wasteful" Møller

After the 32 gls we scored with "Mr Port" in the first half of the season it was time to move on and get ourselves Amateur Player #8. To Denmark we flew, FC Sydvest 05 the club, and we found a decent amateur lad to continue our quest to 1000 goals. Name: William "Wasteful" Møller. For the first time this career I did remember to ask about the nickname before contract negotiations and the answer I got actually worked in his favor. "Wasteful" is easily one of the shittiest passers in the sport. As a young kid he was told by parents, friends, family and many a coach that his passing was very shit. A wasteful player, couldn't pass the ball at a yard's distance, and had no future on the pitch. Until he was positioned up front with no need to pass but just fire at the goal. And aiming for that target he did. 👍 

Passing 3. How anyone can play football professionally with this "skill" is beyond me 😂 no wonder he's an amateur. But what I like about him in particular is his Aerial, Strength and Pace. The other primary attributes aren't great but they're mostly blue so in all he's more than qualified to get us the goals we need. 

Just a month in and "Wasteful" has already delivered us a hat-trick. If this is a sign of things to come, I'm in for a 30-goal ride surely. "Mr Port" got us 32. Can we exceed that? 

A triplet of braces from my triplet of strikers. I gotta save this formation and do a TT later this year. Or maybe the DT, TT, 1KC in one I had originally in mind before this amateur apocalypse.

Ending the season in style. A penalty will be just fine and destroying Real Madrid 7-2 in the CL final makes for a historical day for our fans. 

We nearly scored 1 gl p/m and only came a single goal short of 30. Still more than satisfied with "Wasteful's" performance this half season. 20 keeps us on schedule for 48 updates, so any goals scored beyond that I take as a welcome bonus. Our total for the challenge is 200+ now. This career is slowly entering deeper waters and I'm still enjoying every minute of it. Can't wait to get the next season underway.

Thanks Kane, not too high actually as I'm keeping 4 strikers and rotating between the 4 to maintain fresh legs all around my amateurs. So with limited gametime they only manage about 30gls per season each.

Side Challenge 2

This side challenge is now only 32 team gls away from its completion. The first 3 seasons we were dangling on and off the 3 gls p/m mark. Last season we bumped it up to 3.39. And at the moment we're on 3.44 gls. The team is clearly getting stronger scoring more goals per game on average. Let's wrap this up quick and finish on a high.

Side Challenge 1

Arguably one of toughest side challenges in a long time and it was looking pretty grim up till now. Playing amateur strikers really diminished our chances of reaching those higher scorelines and I was settling for a looong run of failed attempts. And quite possibly even keep it till after the main challenge to increase the odds of hitting those high numbers with a team at full strength. But then my team hit great form against the weak and we nailed some of the big numbers. The way things stand it's very much our challenge to lose now.

Main Challenge - Player 9: Fernando "Fingers" Carpegiani

After ending a single goal short of the 30 with "Wasteful" it was time to try our good fortune with Amateur Player #9. To Wales we sailed, Corwen the club with the amateur player eager to sign for what's now one of the biggest clubs in the world; FC Porto. And player of the hour: Fernando "Fingers" Carpegiani. What is it, give it to me. What's with "Fingers"? Well, sometimes I use my fingers to score goals. The rules state No Hands so I use my fingers. 

............. fuck me!.... 

With zero mood to enter a fruitless discussion with an amateur lad as well as an amateur brain I just ignored I'd heard him vomiting words. Not sure I'll still be sane by the end of this career. 

There was hardly anyone out there better than this so I took my chances. Not great but not disastrously terrible either so I think we're good. The longer I look the worse I feel so I decided to jump into the season asap. 

A reassuring start getting Mané on a free and having him mentor "Fingers". Any help to up skills is appreciated. Feel much better already. 

Reminds me of "Wasteful" who also had a knack for missing the opportunity to score hattricks. Great scoreline for the side challenge tho.

And another missed opportunity for a hattrick. Braces are great for players like him so we take it. Keep 'em coming, "Fingers". 

Our first amateur player of the lot to score better than 1 gl p/m. OK, the team is perfect right now but still a decent performance from our "Fingers" lad. If we get another 2 dozen or so players like him this challenge will be a walk in the park. Not counting on it tho cause I've seen the garbage players covered in red that are out there. And I know it'll be their turn eventually, I'm merely trying to delay their introduction for as long as the challenge rules permit me.

The 1-0 has become the toughest to achieve 😂 there's too many goals in my tactics right now so I'll need to swap formations.
