Chat FMM21 General Discussion - Winter Update Out Now

Thanks guys. I always do training myself and have done for my current save which I will hopefully be posting on here at the end of my first season. Shameless Plug. I just felt as though half way during my first season I hadn't seen too much progress especially from certain players I thought may have grown alot.

 

Just for the record I have 1 Attacking, 1 Defending, 2 Fitness coaches. They are all gold and all natural aptitude.

Does this crap happen to anyone else? I've posted about this before in a different save, but I rarely see others talk about it. None of these offers ever came across my desk, two of them haven't played in a year, and one of the guys is even transfer listed, so it's definitely not the board rejecting anything.

Yeah, this often happens to me in my saves, with no prior warning. Usually I just sell the player or give them a new contract, but still haven't worked out why it happens

I would love to sell (two of) them, but there are no offers, which is the entire problem. The other is my mile-getter and won't take a new contract because he's way too good for the club 🙃

Yeah I’ve noticed this a few times as well. It mostly seems to happen to one of my players as soon as I move over to a new season.

Yes it appears to be a glitch that happens at random.

It’s been so long since I played the game regularly chaps. Is the regen system still as it was? Aka CR7 retires, a young version of him spawns with exact same PA and positions?

I have recently started playing again, been playing since FMH2011 mate but from what I gather still the same although position can be susceptible to change if they have several natural positions they will select one from them. The footedness should remain identical though, can anyone confirm that I'm not talking rubbish though as I'm not 100% sure on this.

Yeah, that's mostly right. Feet stay the same. PA stays the same. The regen gets one of the bright green positions from the original, but the other positions can change (so it's harder to find them). Nationality often the same, but not always. 

If they are a regen of an active league, they will come back as a 16 year, but can take a couple of years to appear. If they are a regen of a non-active league, they come back some time in the next few months and can be anywhere from 16 to 24. 

Every so often the player gets blown away and their PA distributed to other players, but this is pretty rare in my experience.

I know most people aren't aiming to play hoofball, but has anyone found a way to actually get players to lump the ball into the space between the defense and the keeper? I am testing a tactic for cup games where I am hopelessly outmatched (my current team in both long term saves are complete dugshite) and I cannot find a combination of instructions that actually gets players to lump the ball over the defense, rather than play a long pass straight to the opposing defenders. Using Counter/expressive mentality, with Through Balls, Long passing, long distribution, I get someone to actuall lump the ball past the defense about 2 times per 90. I want the team to do this every single time they get the ball - does anyone have any ideas of what I could change? Maybe use defenders who can't pass as BPDs?

I think maybe use some kind of 433 with a defence of BPD-DLP-BPD and also striking force of P-TM-P would help. Maybe try long ball focused to the middle and overload mentality. I haven’t test this it’s all logical way I think should work

I'd take off the through balls as that implies a ball along the floor rather than over the top, maybe early crosses as well. Using a fast striker who's playing as a Poacher or maybe a TM.

I'd have thought no-nonsense CDs would be better than a BPD as well, as they aim to clear the ball out asap. Maybe if they've got a good passing they'll be more accurate?

With a DLP or CMs in midfield to "spray" the ball about. Just thinking how Shelvey occasionally plays for Newcastle with his Hollywood passes.

I thought about NCD too but BPD seems to do risky passes so I assume they’d spray the ball to the forwards

To me a BPD is a defender who is more likely to run with the ball at his feet out of defense and further up the pitch, but my idea of a BPD and SI's idea might be different.

I think that’s more into Libero(defence) if playing on PC

Right - the logic doesn't usually line up with the actual instructions in game,  unfortunately. Thanks @broodje kip and @geordiekrispy for the ideas. It got a bit better when I swapped from CMs to 2x DLPs in the middle, I'll try turning off through balls and try NCDs to see what happens!

Edit: Turning off through balls was important. Apparently the game thinks through balls can only use 2 dimensions... WBs pushed up create some of the best passing angles from wide to central areas, and DLPs are also important. Fast tempo is also good. Haven't decided between counter and Defensive, nor am I settled on the creative freedom yet.

You could start with this and adapt it to exactly what you're after;

I have manually done all mine I am in January first season and haven't seen too many results.

Not sure exactly when it happens, but I've heard lots of people talk about it for years, and seen it happen occasionally.

For eg had a case where Bale never came back when I did a test save looking at this. It wasn't a changed nationality thing, he was just gone forever. There were only a couple of players with that exact PA and the regen will show up with the same PA, but in that case no new player ever showed up with that PA.

I've had other cases where youngsters in my team jumped 10PA etc. Very very rare, and presumably it's because they've been gifted with PA from someone the game has as removed...

When you hear SI Games talk about the regen process, they make it sound like this happens fairly often, but from what I've seen it's pretty rare.

Weren't sure how many people would know, but the January update is available now, at least for me on android. 

Apparently it is not only transfers but many fixes aswell!

Yeah I think I did found this one a few times. I remember back in my Augusta save, there’s weirdly a lot of high potential Englishmen and some youngsters from random country with insanely high attributes but if I remember correctly, I couldn’t find Barella, Ronaldo and I think de Bruyne regens.
