Great last round 🔥was also a very LUCKY round for me! As it could have been won by any of the three legends (strikers, not Vibers!).

Interesting how 2nd-4th place @Titjes @StuartM + @broodje kip all voted for RONALDO, so slipped down the rankings!

Am already liking the look of round 6 !!! 🙂

Edit - at the top of the table - I feel like Arsenal at Christmas, Newcastle under Keegan, or Norwich in 1992/93 … so WHO will be the Manchester club who forces their way into top spot?!

Director 2 : Weirdos, both! Ah Got one, broodje kip, Malaysian master. Get him!

Director 7 : The Chicken? I think you're mistaking him for Kun Aguero.

Director 0 : Aguero is broodje? Sandwich?

Director 12 : World-class mediocrity you mean? Miserable on a good day. Neeeext.

Director 5 : *sigh* we're getting nowhere with this ..

6 hours later..

Director 11 : DanEnglish!! Dan from English land. He's a genius. What do you think?

Director 6 : Nope, he's known for putting his players to sleep with his 5½-hour pre-match tactics talk.

Director 0 : Oh boy, did anyone mention BakaSotong yet, I think he's available. He's a proper guy.

Director 1 : BakaSacking more like - his Wikipage says he's been sacked from all his 8 managerial jobs.

Director 5 : Muwhahaha! Ah wait, ..wait wait ..does anyone remember Cockers2505?

Director 6 : Jezussss, how far back in time are we going here. Wasn't he born in like .. before WWI?

Director 2 : Yes, he was. In fact, this fossil man will be 106 years old next month.

Director 10 : Lads, serious please. Stop joking around with these B-level characters, we're running out of time, we NEED a name.

Director 1 : AndersJ, surely Andersj. He's our man. Top Top bloke.

Director 3 : Excellent choice, why couldn't I think of that. Calling him right now ..

Director ? : Stop, was on the news this morning. AndersJ is a lunatic. I mean .. complete psycho. Crazy! His wife said he talks jibberishy tactics in his sleep.

Director 5 : Shame, all that tactical experimenting got him locked up in a cell for nutties eh? Poor bastard! Lost the plot big time.

Director 6 : Sqwacamole...  or sqwuacka.. geloq , help me out, people.

Director 2 : I know who you're talking about, he's got a name no man can pronounce. He refused the PSG job last week. And a month before that the Milan job.

Director 10 : What? Why??

Director 8 : He demanded a player manager position. Wanted to play himself.

All Directors in unison : Hahahahahahahahaha he got balls alright!

Director 2 : Kanegan?

Director 7 : Who said that!

Director 0 : Director 2 did.

Director 4 : Kanegan refuses to manage Juventus on FMM. He hates us. Clearly. Thou shall not utter his name in this room. EVER!

Director 9 : Only DutchTony and Titjes remain.

Director ? : FFS, how deep have we sunk to get to those two. Dear lord.

Director 11 : I know, absolutely terrible, they're not exactly the level we're striving, but they're available for a penny I think. Both dirt cheap!

Director 12 : DutchTony still plays football on clogs ffs "stuck in time" as they say... and Titjes

Director 5 : Titjes well, Titjes.. got banned - a lifetime ban for "accidentally" - yeah right - blowing up the VAR box. He's in permanent hiding, poor soul.

Next day - Finally a breakthrough..

Director 3 : The uhmm Spain man, forgot his name. I like him. Luigi?

Director 7 I remember the uhm PSG , no Dortmund, wait Chelsea guy, Tou.. Toudello from Germany?

Director 8 : Hold on, nitwits, my vote goes to France uhm, the Zazi, Zadini, , damn it..Z something

Director ? : zzz..zzz..zzz..

Director 9 : You absolute morons, no wonder we're in deep donkey dung!

Director 4 : Agree! Shut up everyone, we're leaving this to the experts of Vibe.

Director 1 : Yes, yes, good call. Over to you Vibe. Now that Bati-Worst-Manager-Ever-Goal is ByeBye - Who should we go for next to save our season? Please help us 🙏

Each option shall be played x10. Only the best run for each manager counts. Best Enrique vs. Best Tuchel vs. Best Zidane. Whoever ends the season highest in the table wins. In case of tie -> most league pts -> best GD -> most wins. You may discuss the 3 options at length in this thread but do NOT reveal your answer. *PM me the answer!*

- If you have any further questions or require additional info before making your decision feel free to ask. Goodluck!

Great round again Bati. Urgh this is a really close one to decide on (again!). Sone questions for you:

  • Transfers - have Juve transferred in / out anyone decent / potential 1st teamers? A screenshot of their transfers  would be sufficient.
  • Injuries - does the team have any major / medium-long term injuries? E.g. to Pogba?
  • Manager - who was the previous manager? Was it still Allegri?

The answers are all vital to decide which option to pick! 🙂

Other than a few knocks, no significant injuries.

I replaced Allegri at the start of season 2022/23. And did a pretty wonderful job I think since. Surprisingly, the board of directors disagree. Buncha fools!

9/13 votes in. No hurry tho, I'm just halfway in right now.

Can't say much other than that the Juve board of directors don't miss me.

Am just about to decide. Am wondering if this is a straight choice between whether a 41221 or 442 will perform best 🤔

(based on my knowledge of the league from the 1990’s) … surely Serie A wouldn’t suit a 442 - right? RIGHT?! 😬 urgh

This will be a complete guess 😡

As were the previous 5, no? 😆

The first four were the basis of decades of FM/FMM hard-earned experience (i.e. semi-educated guesses). This is a 100% pure guess!

Round 1: no logic posted

Round 2: logic send to @BatiGoal

Spoiler

Option C : Striker Duo ( 3-5-2 ) 🙂

  • B is a very unsuitable tactic - as the other team are underdogs (Portuguese 2nd league right?) - they’ll be low risk, keep the ball, passing across their defenders, with no pressure from our wide players (WBs). They’ll have more possession, we’ll have fewer chances.
  • A is a good tactic - very attacking, Benteke should score goals. No assists though. Notice when defending we only have 4 players putting pressure on their defenders, and when attacking have 6 players going forward.
  • C is the best tactic - very balanced. Benteke should BOTH score goals + assist the Poacher. Notice we have 6 players putting pressure on their defenders, and when attacking have 7 players going forward. This should (I hope) be better for Benteke.

Your WBs should be able to easily get on the ball:

  • I checked TND and the normal formation seems to be a 41221 - though it’s possible the change to s different formation when you start the match.
  • the problem is that it’s 1 WB vs their 2 wide players in each flank - they’ve got to escape both a defensive IF/IW/whatever + the opposition FB.
  • So essentially your WB has to evade / beat 2 players each time…
  • … plus most importantly they’ve got to run forward to close down a defensive minded FB. that’s easy for the opposition to pass around.
  • plus they’ll be knackered! 😂

Round 3: explained my logic to Bati again

Spoiler

Option B : Captain Réver (CB)

  • Struggled to pick between options A + B, as both are upgrades.
  • Considering it’s a one game challenge (repeated 30 times!) - I just can’t see any hope for option C to win out - considering the left footed AMR is so much better than their elderly AMR replacement!

Round 4: got this one VERY WRONG

Round 5: got the right, but was very lucky - as I didn’t realize Ronaldo + Town were in the Championship!

Edit - Round 6:

Spoiler

Haha 😂 logic sent to Bati, not posted yet!

This is where we stand right now. BatiGoal did as we have come to expect from him - a wonderful bottle job - and it's now up to real managers to save the day for Juventus. They're 14th at the moment but need to rise the ranks sooner rather than later.

How high can they fly?

January Games

Option A : Luis Enrique

Option B : Thomas Tuchel

Option C : Zinedine Zidane

Screenshot_20230228-095635.thumb.png.b9d76429ec8409df95fca5a9f31502fa.png

Luis Enrique - 5 Wins 1 Draw 0 Losses (+16) - 32pts

Thomas Tuchel - 5 Wins 0 Draws 0 Losses (+15) - 31pts

Zinedine Zidane - 4 Wins 2 Draws 0 Losses (+14) - 30pts

Luis Enrique wins the month scoring most points. However, Thomas Tuchel plays 1 game less and scores 1 point less, but starts his reign perfectly - 5 Wins from 5. Zinedine Zidane drops 4 points setting him up for a chase race already. It's Enrique #1, Tuchel #2 and Zidane #3.

  1. Luis Enrique
  2. Thomas Tuchel
  3. Zinedine Zidane

February Games

Option A : Luis Enrique

Option B : Thomas Tuchel

Screenshot_20230228-010228.thumb.png.762e962c481fe7883ef098e7e8aebea9.png

Option C : Zinedine Zidane

Screenshot_20230228-095702.thumb.png.53b024da1e3a1cd2221fae6d9eb7e773.png

Luis Enrique - 2 Wins 2 Draw 0 Losses (+8) - 40pts

Thomas Tuchel - 4 Wins 1 Draw 0 Losses (+13) - 44pts

Zinedine Zidane - 4 Wins 1 Draw 0 Losses (+13) - 43pts

Luis Enrique draws 2, dropping 4 very valuable points. Disaster month for Luis. He loses first place to Thomas Tuchel who overtakes him scoring 5pts more. Zinedine Zidane matches Thomas Tuchel and scores 3pts more than Luis' total (43 vs 40). Interestingly enough Zinedine Zidane is still lower down the table, which is why he's still in bottom spot.

  1. Thomas Tuchel
  2. Luis Enrique
  3. Zinedine Zidane

March Games

Option A : Luis Enrique

Screenshot_20230228-080749.thumb.png.f926c231248ff4bcc3f5ee132ed9f86c.png

Option B : Thomas Tuchel

Screenshot_20230228-010253.thumb.png.be283d101e0cea4f20e7d76385400950.png

Option C : Zinedine Zidane

Screenshot_20230228-095730.thumb.png.49f5a9e90ac7d6c4aa8f79f3385de659.png

Luis Enrique - 3 Wins 1 Draw 0 Losses (+10) - 50pts

Thomas Tuchel - 2 Wins 2 Draw 0 Losses (+8) - 52pts

Zinedine Zidane - 3 Wins 1 Draw 0 Losses (+10) - 53pts

Luis Enrique rediscovers his form scoring +10 points, but all of a sudden finds himself in last place. #1 in January - #2 in February - #3 in March, what just happened? Thomas Tuchel scored lowest of the three this month + 8 points losing his first place as a result. Huge month for Zinedine Zidane equalling Luis' +10 points and instantly jumping from bottom to top.

3 months and 3 different leaders. With 2 months left to play it's Luis Enrique with 10 Wins and 4 Draws (+34), Thomas Tuchel with 11 Wins and 3 Draws (+36), Zinedine Zidane with 11 Wins and 4 Draws (+37). However, Zinedine Zidane's played an extra game, which leaves him with 10 left to play. Luis Enrique and Thomas Tuchel both have 11 more games.

  1. Zinedine Zidane
  2. Thomas Tuchel
  3. Luis Enrique

Will Luis Enrique bounce back? Can Zinedine Zidane keep momentum? What's Thomas Tuchel thinking 🤔 .. let's find out..

April Games

Option A : Luis Enrique

Option B : Thomas Tuchel

Screenshot_20230228-010320.thumb.png.9b943444ccea9e4f59f2630b194787c2.png

Option C : Zinedine Zidane

Screenshot_20230228-095759.thumb.png.fb62fc0e6423f79d406435e7101b1e53.png

Luis Enrique - 3 Wins 0 Draws 2 Losses (+9) - 59pts

Thomas Tuchel - 3 Wins 1 Draw 1 Loss (+10) - 62pts

Zinedine Zidane - 2 Wins 1 Draw 1 Loss (+7) - 60pts

Luis Enrique wins 3 but loses 2 and is no longer invincible. As are Thomas Tuchel and Zinedine Zidane both losing their invincible status this month as well. All to different opponents btw. Thomas Tuchel also records 3 Wins but Zinedine Zidane only 2 wins. 5 points dropped means he's no longer in leading position. It's the German #1, The Frenchman #2 and the Spaniard #3.

All 3 have just 6 games left to either keep/retake the lead, or even to just salvage any points from this round.

  1. Thomas Tuchel
  2. Zinedine Zidane
  3. Luis Enrique

May Games

Option A : Luis Enrique

Screenshot_20230228-080859.thumb.png.811666af11b96ce0b18adda4e2ffe867.png

Option B : Thomas Tuchel

Option C : Zinedine Zidane

Screenshot_20230228-095845.thumb.png.35a877cc0c1a8c2aaac1b6dfaca6e0a9.png

Luis Enrique - 5 Wins 0 Draws 1 Loss (+15) - 74pts

Thomas Tuchel - 4 Wins 1 Draw 1 Loss (+13) - 75pts

Zinedine Zidane - 4 Wins 1 Draw 1 Loss (+13) - 73pts

We're at the final month and the final 6 games. Luis Enrique records the most wins (5) of the three managers and scores +15pts. Massive month. Both Thomas Tuchel and Zinedine Zidane have identical months, not a first, and win one less (4) than Luis Enrique. It's both +13pts, which sees Tuchel barely hold on to his lead and Zidane barely miss out on points, being overtaken by Enrique. What a close end to their seasons.

Btw, huge credit to Luis and Thomas for making Juventus Serie A champions after my terrible 13 league games in charge. Some achievement, Zidane probably was less fortunate competing against in superb form clubs from Milan. Then again, Zidane had 10!! opportunities to finish higher than 4th and never got there, both other managers did which is why I think Enrique and Tuchel are more deserving of their points.

Thoughts

Over the course of 10x ½ season - altho due to the WC 2022 this ½ season lasted 25 games - I got to holiday a lovely 250 games per manager. That's plenty. I can conclude that Luis Enrique is * on average * the best performer of the 3. He ended his Juventus season regularly on 70+ points, only missing out on 2 occasions. Thomas Tuchel is close behind also ending on 70+ pts in the league more often than not, missing out 3 times. Then Zinedine Zidane he's lucky to have lasted this long as he only managed a 70+pts finish on 3 occasions!!! missing out on 7. He his either a consistent underperformer (his greens look pretty decent) or him and Juve are a complete mismatch. It's his best run vs the other best runs that made it a competition, otherwise he'd be out of this race after 2-3 runs.

Why did Zidane underperform? Why does Tuchel do so well despite his lack of green attributes? - Luis Enrique I suppose did what we, I, expected from him but the other two left me questions. It's difficult to pinpoint a single thing but what *may* be the cause here is Tuchel's 20 Tactical Knowledge vs Zidane's 12. That's a mountain of a difference. Another thing *might* be Zidane's much lower Discipline of 10 vs greens for Enrique and Tuchel. Then again, Adaptability is well in Zidane's favor compared to the others, surely that's a big advantage, especially short-term when others need more time to gel and build a competitive team, and many more games needed to adapt -> hurting results and losing points in the process.

What are your thoughts on this? 🤔

Final Score:

  1. Thomas Tuchel ( 3 pts )
  2. Luis Enrique ( 1 pt )
  3. Zinedine Zidane ( 0 pts )

I personally don't think any of them under performed, they did exactly what it says on the tin, all good managers and each game their tacticle brains worked miracles to gain points and climb the table, obviously there is bookings, injuries, bad games, etc etc we could discuss, each time one of them makes a different decision, taking maybe the best player off for fatigue, or to save them from a second yellow card, I think they all did well and proved they are very good managers in their own rights.

Thanks for running it and giving us the full run down of how it plays, interestingly I would like to see how AI lines up against each manager, does their manager statistics cause the AI to put out a different formation, or is it all based around the formation they belive Juve is playing?

Look forward to seeing the next round, even though I came into this late, it's been an interesting challenge, my hat comes off to the top 3 for keeping momentum

These runs we're their best, not much wong with that. But especially Zidane finished on the 60-ish pt mark regularly. That's approx 45 pts from a possible 75. That's I think too little for a Juventus squad.

Good question - forgot to include this.

Luis Enrique: 4-1-2-2-1 (wingers)

Thomas Tuchel: 4-4-2 (flat mid)

Zinedine Zidane: 4-1-2-2-1 (wingers)

This is how they approached the majority of their games, depending on availability of players. The AI opponent countered with one of three from most to least used:

  1. 4-4-2 (flat)
  2. 4-1-2-2-1 (wingers)
  3. 4-4-2 (diamond) / (Wing-Backs)

Look forward to seeing the next round, even though I came into this late, it's been an interesting challenge, my hat comes off to the top 3 for keeping momentum

Eventho you joined much later, big thanks for that. I'd hoped for more Vibers as we've got loads of good lads in this community. These sort of community games are much more fun when we have larger groups involved with the occasional trash talk etc. It's really primarily for the journey and the things we experience and learn along the way and the debates it generates. Results and leaderboard are secondary, so hopefully if there's enough demand for a Cup 3 at some point in the future I'll be happy to host another one.

We still have 4 rounds to go here tho. The next one will be another tactical challenge for you all. Hope everyone is still enjoying this 👍👍

With this in mind - @DutchTony has jumped up into 2nd place to become a true title contender, with +3 points in the last round!

The race for top 4 is wide open - and just one good result may be enough to escape the relegation zone!

Midtable obscurity (sigh), still its better than looking at the real world league tables!

Pressure is on DanEnglish now, I think... squeaky bum time!

AndersJ has been the distance before so you can't rule him out.

DutchTony has a bit of momentum but points in the bag are what counts...

It won't take long for me to start slipping down the table 😁

These runs we're their best, not much wong with that. But especially Zidane finished on the 60-ish pt mark regularly. That's approx 45 pts from a possible 75. That's I think too little for a Juventus squad.

Good question - forgot to include this.

Luis Enrique: 4-1-2-2-1 (wingers)

Thomas Tuchel: 4-4-2 (flat mid)

Zinedine Zidane: 4-1-2-2-1 (wingers)

This is how they approached the majority of their games, depending on availability of players. The AI opponent countered with one of three from most to least used:

That is bizarre as lately, and again in my experience, the AI has been counter playing 4-2-2-1-2, so back 4, 2x DM, 2 A/IF 1 AP and 2 strikers. But I guess as always it's counter guessing you're team in this case attacking formations probably from all 3 managers

There again that might be how the AI perceives my tactics in my Leeds challenge? Which is going well but I'm sure there is a little cheat in the system when is comes to playing the bigger clubs, I mean 15 shots, 10 on target score nothing, Arsenal have 3 shots 3 goals!! Really

They have no GK? 😆 11 outfield?

Is it 4-2-2-1-1 perhaps (4-2-3-1) I've seen the latter now and again, IFs with a lone striker.
